I'm a casual, PVE player, level 60 with T1 Gear and level 7 Enchants who doesn't have time (or interest) in grinding instances. For me, these modules provide me a way to keep playing the game. I haven't started the new one, but Feywild let me keep my foot in the door, playing now and then, for months as I worked my way…
I think, given the issues with bots, and that they don't want to give away valuable stuff, events should focus on short, fun dailies and boss fights, with a lot of visual appeal, some lore, and drops that are BOP. No grinding, so the BOP isn't a big deal, but no profit, either, just fun. Maybe some daily buffs, that sort…
I ran through it once. For me, the work isn't worth the reward, but that's kind of been the way of it, for events. I sort of wish they would focus on fun activities, and downplay the rewards, since I get that they don't want to give away a lot of stuff that has a lot of value.
Yeah, I've been fiddling with the Foundry, but don't see much point in bothering to create content. It would usually be right up my alley, but I'm not interested in creating stuff, just so that it can be quickly bumped by the same missions that have been featured and up top since I started... in Beta. I love this game, but…
Yeah, I think the key to handling the final sparks is just to wander into one of the zones and kill some redcaps for a few minutes. My main beef is that when you have too many people just "sticking it out" that means it's running a little long.
I'm officially tired of it, but I have everything I need except a bunch of sparks. I can either take a few weeks of doing the daily and the weekly spark missions, or if I get really lazy, just do the big one once a week and wait it out. I enjoyed Feywild a good deal, and don't mind repeating stuff if there's an end to it,…
I have 3 toons with max Leadership, one I play, and an alt that I'm not playing right now, but is leveling professions, and that's about all I have time for. I'm not rich by any means - I never hit cap - but it's enough for what I need. It's funny - I really enjoy this game, but nerfing Leadership after all the work I put…
I'd love to see high level deepening of existing zones, too. Another cool idea would be to integrate this with the Foundry and campaign system: 1) Run a contest to develop content for Helm's Hold/wherever. 2) Tie it to a reward for players for running Helm's Hold Foundry quests (in order to select winners/reject junk). 3)…
This is a tough one. I'm at the tail end of the Feywild dailies (just need a bunch of the little blue sun things, now) and I've enjoyed working through the campaign system, though it's gotten a little repetitive as I work towards the final boons (which will take me a while of doing the fey spark/weekly). I'd be happy with…
So lack of transparency (a recurring theme, both in items to buy and in approach to exploits), especially in areas that are related to “gambling” elements, that to some extent (my words) prey on people who struggle to manage impulsive zen purchasing. I fall prey to this, but it mostly takes the form of buying lock boxes…
By no means. What I'm interested in is the dynamics of responsibility - stuff like bioshrike brought up, i.e. implying that the model isn't good for kids, who are likely to be impulsive. I'm interested in ideas like "it's okay to link in-game compulsive behavior to real-life spending, as long as the system is consistent" -…
I guess the message is that if the carny isn't applying the rules predictably, it makes it harder for the rubes to enjoy the game, because you never know when another unfairness might rear up: it took a lot of fun out of my lock box gambling, knowing that some people had gotten a lot of Nightmares, just like it was hard to…
Yeah, that was rough. I've opened several hundred lock boxes without getting a Nightmare. I get your point: if the system isn't transparent (sometimes exploiters will be banned, sometimes people who get something for free get to keep it) how do you know where you stand? They blew that one, and again with the "lucky" thing.…
Sed, can you elaborate? What have you learned, that's discouraged you? Cregar, I play similarly: I bought a Guardian pack, and spend an extra $10/month on the game. Now, I haven't always spent that money well (*cough* Lock Boxes), but that's all I spend.
Thanks for the input. You know it's funny - I suspect that the stone is probably stronger, but like you said, it's a playstyle thing. I'm looking to slowly walk through the PVE content again, probably over a few months. I suspect I'd have more fun with the MAA, even though it might not be easier.
It's a time thing, itf - dungeons are PVE, but I have limited play time, little patience for queues and PUGs, and am rarely available for instance runs with my guilds. I may not need a companion, but I'm pretty addicted to healers - that's why I'm a little unsure of tank viability.
Yeah, Becky, I agree - there are tons of people with various pets running around solo in Feywild. One of my issues is that augments are... dull. I like my GWF's Lilend a good deal - she rarely dies and she's incredibly useful. I don't know if she's the "best" and don't really care. I think what I'll do with my baby CW is…
Okay, you've pretty much convinced me - stone it is! I have a level 60 GWF and his Lillend survives all right, but she's not the focus the way a tank would be.
Huh. Very interesting - thanks for the responses. Just to make sure - I've a PVE guy, not an instance or PVP guy, still the stone? I worry that everyone responds to these questions with how to be the toughest in PVP or survive epic instances, which means little to me.
Pretty much exactly this. No regrets. Now that I have some in-game sources of income, all zen buying is based on my supporting the game, rather than "I want this" type buying.
This does change my plans, slightly. Every month or so I let myself toss around $10.00 into the game, because I dig it. I'll stop doing that, and just "bank" for the next few months, then toss in something at the next window when I get a little extra for it.
a) The solo instances: I LOVE doing instanced content by myself, and NWO has it in spades. b) Solo advancement: seriously, I'm working towards a set of T1 gear through Fury of the Feywild, and I DON'T HAVE TO SIT AROUND WAITING FOR A GROUP WHEN I ONLY HAVE 30 MINUTES TO PLAY! c) The Combat: It's lots of fun, I don't know…
I guess it depends on what you want. I love the game, but I only play around 30 minutes a day - right now on the Feywild stuff. When I'm done with that, I'll go into "maintenance" mode, and basically log on to pray (or not bother), do Leadership through teh interwebs, and wait for new modules. I might do a Foundry now and…
I seem to remember there was a certain level range where I got really irritated at potion guzzlers - I can't remember the zone, but it passed - and yeah, it helps to interrupt them, though it's worth noting that it's not a deal-breaker, just an irritant, i.e. only I may take potions, darn it!
I get a kick out of this post because it implies that anything in an MMO, ever, anywhere, "should" have bragging rights. I've been playing MMOs since Ultima Online, and all they require is a) lots of time, b) the kind of cooperation that could be expected of a few, focused teenagers and c) the sort of twitch skills that…
They care, I think, they just prioritize poorly - it sounds like this issue is something they could have headed off by expecting it would become more serious when more people were in the zone. C'est la MMO. I'll use it to even out my blades from when they weren't being rewarded right from the other quest. Luckily, the…
The problem is that the Dryad's won't come back as long as the Redcaps are kicking where they're supposed to spawn! They're terrorificated! This is irritating, but what can you do? Hopefully they'll swoop in with a fix - I wish they'd solve the competition problem, though.
I guess it's too late now, but they should cap it - I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm intrigued by the idea of some Feywild Blessings = enchants to sell/AD, but it's useless if all that happens is the enchant market is ruined by bots.
