They can even be totaly useless, because 4 Paladins with Myth DC sigil and multiple enemes grouped in one place are very vulnerable to RA which generate a lot of AP. If they wanted to improve pvp they would've just increase the amount of points which you can get by defending consted flag. It would still favor premades but not as much.

Not all F2P games have problem with gold spammers. I've over 5k hours in RIFT and trust me getting spam from gold spammers is incredibly rare and happens only in the lowest chat lvl bracket.
