I don't disagree with your point. But in their defense, it was never their intention for us to refine 20 stacks of peridots at a time.
Something I suggested a while ago is change the existing Refinement system so you can "break down" things like blue/purple gear into Refinement points / items. and then you can use these items in their stacks to refine the gear you want. they dont need to be fancy. Just call them like "essence of (something)". make an interface for breaking stuff down via a NPC where you just drag or click all the gear you want broken down to them, and they do it all at once.
Secondly. we definitely need more ways to get RP whether it be from excess XP, converting unused black ice, Using rough AD, A new currency or Whatever else we can do.
I have tried again and again to farm RP without spending ad to just buy it, and the time it takes is obscene, My artifacts are all around 80 at the moment, and getting one level without just buying the RP required takes Days, I guess I'd be more the average player in the sense I play 2-4 hours a day, So if its taking days to get ~5 or 6 extra stats.. you can see the frustration.
Ooh, RP from black ice. Now there's an interesting way to revitalize IWD.
Could just add a few black ice shaping tasks that generate RP stones of some type.

I know there are some lore people here, good for them, but frankly, I cant see how that in any way, shape or form deserves a actual hour on stream. They could cover that with a dev blog, in fact I would probably be more inclined to read the blog , then see a stream event about it.
I just noticed how late this is going to be for us east coasters, will be skipping this one to be with the family instead.
Anyone who is watching , can you give us a update on this if you can. If they do mention it, I would like to know about it.

Akro has been good about posting a transcript of Q&As, and the videos get archived in some format (occasionally more of a highlight reel). Fear not regarding getting updated.
all subsequent ranks after are 165k rp. Which means around 6.5 mil to get to rank 139. I also suspect that there will be a new item quality level for artifacts and artifact gear.
So it seems to be a 200% increase of what was required to get an artifact to rank 100 to now get to rank 139.
I can't see how it's gonna make anything easier. Invoking daily on 15 characters since October, I got only 1 coal ward yesterday. The difference is with new coffers added, you'll get peridot/minor resonance stone once in a week instead of R4.
M6 almost drains your soul given how boring it is. (c) joocycuzzzzzz
While that's kinda the point of an MMO. It keeps players playing. Otherwise the game becomes stale and boring. The problem is that they don't create new content to keep players playing. A few new areas on existing map (again) and 1 new map is all we're getting to get our next 10 levels. At least we're getting new monsters, that's something I suppose. Instead they think that grinding or buying (99% botted) RP all day long is what's going to keep us playing.
I couldn't agree more. Let's focus on story and challenge and less on grind. People that say additional levels on artifact (gear) and enchantments is necessary to keep players interested don't know a whole lot.

Well, the OP "didn't create this thread to get an answer". Doing so would be against the forum rules. But I do agree.
The announcement of adding yet another artifact slot and the lack of reply on such a hot topic can only mean that they are not very interested in what's going on in this thread. Yes, yes. Devs are busy, we all know that. But I'm not buying that not even 1 of them (or Panderus or even Akromatik for that matter) haven't had 5 minutes this last month to chip in on this thread. It takes even less time to just say "sorry guys, it's staying the way it is" or "interesting ideas here, but we're not gonna look into this until after mod6 dropped". Their usual silence is indeed deafening, the only possible conclusion to be drawn from it is just as clear.
Drawing the worst conclusion possible is usually the wrong conclusion. They have always been upfront with what they won't do. You should take their silence instead as a sign they are discussing things internally and because of the nature of the discussion, they cannot comment without worrying about letting people down by their comments, which happens so often so often when speaking of things for the future. What I mean is that it is a growing trend that as soon as a Developer says something, people run with it like its the holy grail and then any slight deviance of what they said is then shunned. Nay, I'd say their silence means they are looking into the comments people are making before giving a response that will undoubtedly be used against them, no matter what the nature of their reply.
However, Akromatik did give at least an acknowledgement in yesterday's livestream. Fast forward to the 00:58:00 minute mark, where he speaks about it:
"It looks like a few people are asking about artifact equipment. Now I actually do have some stuff to say about artifact equipment. So, with the increase of levels of artifact equipment, I'd just like to reiterate that these plans -- things are still being tweaked. So what you may see right now, may not be the final product of the game. Also, the content is done so that its not expected that you have the maxed out version of everything. So you don't necessarily need to have those super super super high levels to complete the content appropriately.
In addition, higher rank enchantments will be replacing the rank threes and fours that currently drop at max level. So you might be seeing more like rank fives and stuff along those lines. So, that's another thing to look out for. And also, each of the Campaign Zones are going to become the best places to farm for certain things. For example, like Icewind Dale for example will become the best place to farm black ice [enchantments], as you might imagine and things like that. So, and what I think a lot of people are seeing right now is that they're seeing more ways to spend RP -- but they may not necessarily see the new ways to get RP -- that is to accumulate it. So, definitely something to keep in mind."
Also, I cannot find the part in the stream but he did acknowledge that they are aware users are not liking the UI for refining.

Zeb,
Unfortunately even this is FAR missing the mark. We are not necessarily looking for more ways to earn piddly RP that we can now.
When you need 4.5M for an artifact piece, im not looking for more ways to earn 500 RP, I want ways to earn 50,000 RP.
For you moderators, what I would like to have someone pose to the DEVs is this question, "How many hours of playing NW should it require to be BIS?"
Now this wouldnt be a black and white answer, because it would be "depends" however say you took a player who plays the game 8 hours a day and is sole purpose is to become BIS. How many days @ 8 hours a day would it take him?
Or another one,
"How many hours of play should a person have to put in to get an Orange item"?
This may be easier to answer. So what would that be? 100 hours? 1000?
Because right now, and even if they start adding more rank 5s and more rewards its nowhere near reasonable.
Here is an example:
I went and got two sets of dragon hoard enchants. went and farmed for RP. I was able to earn ~ 1200 RP every 5 minutes of play. Swapping out the gear with the new enchants to reset the ICD. Farming quickling den, id average a few white pearls and peridots and the occasional Aqua.
So doing this math it would take me:
4,600,000 / 1200 *20 = 191 HOURS of gametime to get an orange item. So for the average player who did nothing but farm AND played 4 hours a day this would take you nearly 48 days of pure farming each and every day....... For ONE item.
Its not that we dont expect to have full BIS in 10 days, its not even that we NEED the gear for the content, its that if you make gear unattainable thats what is frustrating.
With the above math, a player would have 2 orange items by the time the next module rolls out and there is a high chance it becomes obsolete.
This will get even WORSE for module 6 because now each item is require MUCH more RP and unless we are able to earn a run rate of ~ 1000 RP a minute, its not going to work.
What you are starting to see is a massive problem/hole they are digging. The DEVs cant increase RP too much because enchants dont require that much. IT requires only like 600k to go from a Perfect Vorpal to the new transcendant vorpal.
See THIS is a reasonable quest, 600k RP? Well I can earn that in ~ 25 hours of Dragon Hoard farming. THAT is reasonable. I can spend 1-2 hours a day and have that in a few weeks.
Like I have said before, its ONE thing if the BIS item DROPS for us fully maxed out but just is SUPER rare. Its a whole other problem when you basically hand out an item to everyone that has potential to be BIS and then say "we dont expect you to get this to max, but you dont need it to complete content either!"
Then why make the gear if its not expected for players to earn it? Id rather have a dungeon that has the BIS weapon in the game with a 1% chance drop, than have this system.
Atleast with THAT system I could farm the dungeon 200 times and have a reasonable expectation of getting the item. At 30 minutes a run it would only take me 100 hours to get that item (on average). Even this would be frustrating but less so than the current system.
Imagine that... Take your 191 hours and put that into an "average" dungeon run of 30 minutes. This would be ATLEAST 382 dungeon runs and I would suggest by that time maybe 50% of the people would have gotten that ONE item. Do this 4 times for all 4 artifact pieces?
See how dumb that looks?
Id LOVE to see how they came to the conclusion that this is balanced. Because EVERY measure I look at, every formula or way, its SO blatantly obvious, its blowing my mind that DEVs that dont seem dumb, frankly implement something like this.
I don't wanna say that Akro's word doesn't hold any weight, but the examples of tweaks outside balancing during preview testing are few and far between. It's always "don't forget this isn't final" until it then gets final and everybody is like 'this has been brought up in the preview section already' when complaints hit the forum.
The only thing I really remember is removing the AD cost for upgrading enchantments when they introduced refining. If there were more substantial examples, there might be some hope, but my official stance is 'until proved otherwise'. This also affects the proclaimed better ways to farm for RP. Ayroux, comments like yours are exactly why even I am ever reserve to comment on what Devs say. Because your comments are a prime example of how too many take such all out of context, as though there's nothing else being discussed or developed, and that is all there is or ever will be. Damned if ya do, damned if a ya don't.
(ZSO got me) Edit: Never-the-less, please continue to provide feedback and discussions. It's just best to not dwell on what was said but instead provide feedback and discuss things in an objective manner.
It's not what they've said imo. It's what they've done with increasing the ranks on everything. They may have increased the drops on things, but considering they've added to the mountain that just barely keeps things even. I expect no real answer on the forums but I would have thought if they were listening we might see some results on preview. We've seen the opposite on preview.

Thanks Zeb,
I did also watch the stream so its not exactly like your comments revealed anything, I was already venting in teamspeak after watching it, and am still upset at the direction they continue to go down. I dont believe I have taken anything out of context as I watched the entire stream live. Akro hardly mentioned it at all as a SEVERE issue, we have had ZERO DEV response even acknowledging this issue <removed>. But thats where its all ended, we dont even have ONE word from a DEV that they see this as a potential issue. Not ONE.
But as charononus said, its not what they say or didnt say even, its that they continue to make it worse. The exact reason I continue to provide feedback is because I DO believe there are other things being discussed or developed. Its actually the players who DONT post that have given up hope trying to reach the DEVs. So the reason I am so passionate and so frustrated is because I still believe there is time to turn it around and improve. However instead of listening to players who are saying this is an unfair system (BTW - this is coming from ME, a player who has 6 of 7 Orange items), they continue to make it worse, increasing enchants to rank 12, creating two new layers of "Pure and Transcendent" enchants - which by ITSELF would be fine, but then layer ONTOP of that artifacts to 140 and Artifact Equipment to 80?! Its literally MADNESS
To my above questions id also like to know why increasing from a Perfect to a Pure costs 600k RP and 5 GOMPs which makes sense, but increasing from lvl 50 artifact item to lvl 60 costs like 2.5 million RP? Shouldnt it also mirror that cost? 600k RP for 10 levels PLUS the GMOPs?
It just makes no sense, and then they continue to add onto it, almost like its "too easy" now......
They have the PERFECT opportunity to "wash this away" by making DROP gear that is on PAR to BIS orange items. This makes room for them to remove the artifact item system in the future without making people angry this module.....

Yes, thats exactly the problem, first of all it looks like we r almost totaly ingnoret, not even that. What is the point of feedback, if they r doing exactly oppose? Should we start saying "make 1h ICD on hoards and remove Opals and saphires from table" so they will maybe remove ICD & pearls and add diamonds? Sorry for this pathetic joke, but its how it looks now, so basicly its not a joke. How big feedback ppl have gave here? How many great ideas? How many complains about time needed to get all this rp, how many cost calculations?
Was that ever taken into account?
Another thing, devs r answering in many topics, but i see no answers from them in topics about refining (beside maybe one, and silence since then). It looks like this topic is inentionaly avoided, which makes me rly sad, and also bring dark clouds connected with future of our refining system into my mind.
Now, a bit feedback:
Ayroux is kinda right with rp needed for enchants, so maybe introduce brand new rp items which will work ONLY with eq artis and maybe normal artis? starting from 10k ending on 50k, droping from weekly cheasts, dung chests (lets say 20% drop chance) also from bosses.

They have this already, its called items... You can use a blue belt for RP. You can use an epic item for RP. The issue is its pathetic.
Why does a peridot(green) give 500rp but a green item gives only 100?
Why does an aquamarine (blue) give 1000rp but a blue item only 300?
Why does a black opal(epic) give 10k but a t2 belt gives only 1200?
Maybe items should give equiv RP as seen above? That would be ONE avenue for help with artifact equip.
I would even suggest:
Peridot = 1000rp
Aquamarine = 3000 RP
Black Opal = 30,000 RP.
Then make items MIMIC that for RP. Get a good epic? Get 30k rp if used for refinement.
Black Opals should have a good chance to drop from DD chests.
ALSO:
Daily quests should also award you with Aquamarines. You could run around for a week, doing 5 daily quests each day and have 35*3,000(new aqua) and have nearly 100k RP just from dailies.
That would be a START.
Then adding things like dragon hoard enchants - which IMO should have like a 10 second ICD. This disables mass farming but makes it so you dont need multiple sets of the enchants and you can just play the dang game.
Boom. Done. Game balance now. Except NOW youll never have anyone buy blood rubies (do people buy those?) And drop their price down to 200-300 zen each. Maybe 500 for 3.
This means $5= 150k RP.
4.5M rp for orange / 150krp = 30*$5 = $150 for one orange. That sounds VERY reasonable.

An improvement for the refining UI would be sort items starting with green at the top when you use the list button on the refining window, that would at least make it a bit faster. Right now it displays the most rare on top.

(Sin)cerely

They have this already, its called items... You can use a blue belt for RP. You can use an epic item for RP. The issue is its pathetic.
Why does a peridot(green) give 500rp but a green item gives only 100?
Why does an aquamarine (blue) give 1000rp but a blue item only 300?
Why does a black opal(epic) give 10k but a t2 belt gives only 1200?
Maybe items should give equiv RP as seen above? That would be ONE avenue for help with artifact equip.
I would even suggest:
Peridot = 1000rp
Aquamarine = 3000 RP
"How much is he going to spend?"
