I'll rephrase my question: How does a channel like this and a guild differ?
Think of a guild as a more specific and more "exclusive" membership, whereas this channel is more general in that it is for anyone who does not cheat or exploit. There is no requirement of timezone, theme, RP/non-RP, or any other sort of restriction, other than you don't cheat...

there's another one about:
A guild you need to join/get a invitation to write in their channel - to a public channel you can join on your own.
Also being in a public channel is accountwide, on a guild channel you need to be with every character in that guild.
(and one more, custom channels running on another server, so you can also read it on other PWE games and also on Preview/Owlbear Shard).
The next point, there are many legit guilds out there that are way older than NW, coming from other games, so it enables also a possibility to have a guildteam with some open slots and finding legitgamers to fill up easily, without that much talk like you search on default channels.
(Since exploiting became the "normal way" in NW there are many trolling the legit gamers...)
@abell: you can see who is online/offline in that channel (settings -> custom channel -> properties if Im not totally wrong now).

A channel like this is a place to find a group (or chat). A guild can be used for that as well. And includes the added benefit of a guild bank. But guilds can sometimes have requirements or expectations. Remember you can have both, a guild and be in the channel. Get the best of both worlds.

I'll also repost a useful bind for typing into the NW_Legit_Community custom chat channel. With it, you need only press 7 on the number pad, type what you want, then hit enter:

So long as the channel keeps growing and the devs keep fixing exploits (don't say they aren't because it's clear to anyone who reads the patch notes that they are trying to) we'll be the ones laughing when legit runs are the only or faster way to do it.

Hi folks, recently joined this channel. Great idea in general. What's the appropriate way to find a party here if you are quite new to the Neverwinter dungeon world and have mostly T1 equipment (although stone)? Don't want to spam the channel.

Not all of our guild is on the channel, but our dungeon recruiters use the channel to fill gaps in our DDs. So assuming there are others doing the same, the numbers are probably more like 600!:p

The best advice I can offer is to be to-the-point, but polite at the same time: "New [insert class here] lf epic dungeon". Personally, I care more that YOU are willing to learn and cooperate than what your GS is...

Found some nice groups here over the last week. Today we even cleared the mobs that continue to spawn after the 2nd and final boss die in Frozen Heart rather than wipe to them.
There were of course some disappointments over the last week too, such as some players from the channel doing campfire exploits (dying to get to next camp or running and dying on next camp)

I think I was with you on that run... as my cleric Ashen Fierceheart. If that was you, then it was quite a surprise to learn that those enemies do not spawn endlessly, (though I still think they should stop spawning when Hrimnir is defeated).

I beleive i was on Kyber - been a while so I forgot. I was a member of Loreseekers for quite some time, where exploiting would get you kicked out of the guild.
I am really liking this so far. been able to form up some good groups, but I think that we may want to consider a chat channel as well. seems like some folks are chatting and not lfg, making it hard to get a group. I am not against it, but in DDo, you could have your socail chat in the guild channel and recruit from the LFG channel that was set up to join the guilds for this purpose. I can make the 2 seperate colors so it is easy to distinguish as well.
I like the progress and hope to see this continue to expand.

"Legit gaming" stirs up a lot of conversation. Yes, the initial intent of the channel was to provide a way for those looking for a group that didn't cheat to do so, but I feel some chatter in the channel is fine. I suppose I should be happy that it's active enough that there's a lot going on in the channel...

Anyone have a list of guilds that follow the "legit" code? I have 4 toons (2 at 60) that I may want to join a legit guild and leave the other 2 on my own guild (for storage). Thanks in advance!

No list that I'm aware of... but you could always ask in the channel.

Could I ask what are your community's view on Perma-Stealth TRs? I'm interested in joining, but I know some people feel that Perma-Stealth is an exploit in itself, since we can solo most of the dungeon bosses, although I've always preferred to look at it as an "insurance" in case the rest of the party wipes.
I know there are TRs ib NW_Legit, and yes the NW_Legit runs are many times the TR soloing the boss while all the other ones are just pretending to be useful, running around, taunting some adds here or there. Arguabky there should be no TRs in Legit.
