Dear members of the Neverwinter Community:
(Post updated 2/22/2015)UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, THE CURRENT CHANNEL RULES ARE THOSE ON OUR SHIVTR SITE: http://tinyurl.com/osrt9lc
We have some exciting news regarding the NW_Legit_Community custom chat channel! After collecting player feedback, as well as observations from myself and fellow channel moderators, we are going to be making some big changes to the channel. Our hope is that these changes lead to a more tightly-knit community, while also serving to better maintain a pleasant and supportive environment for all channel members.
Before I get into the specific details of this new implementation, let me first introduce Damnacious, (
@damnacious in-game). He stepped up early on to assist with moderating the channel, and has since gone above and beyond that simple directive. While I shall retain overall ownership of NW_Legit_Community, Damnacious will now be the primary person in change of its operation.
We now also have our own website and forums, and I encourage everyone who is interested in the channel to visit the below link for more info:
http://www.nwlegitcommunity.shivtr.com/users/sign_up
Now, to the nitty-gritty:
1. NW_Legit_Community will be going private. As before, everyone is welcome to join, but by making the channel private, we have a lot more control over how issues within the channel are handled. As some of you may have seen, a problem member can be kicked from an open channel, but immediately rejoin. This change rectifies that situation. It also means that we won't have to employ the mute function, as it likewise has unintended side effects - like sometimes muting the wrong person.
2. The channel rules have been updated:
http://nwlegitcommunity.shivtr.com/f...hreads/2012389
3. As I previously mentioned, we have our own forums now, (forum rules below):
http://nwlegitcommunity.shivtr.com/f...hreads/2028754
You will be required to apply for a free account at shivtr.com, then send a request to join nw_legit_community, as the channel has been made private. Again, I want to stress that the channel shall remain open to everyone, and that these changes are being made to help us maintain a friendly and constructive atmosphere in the channel. There is a feedback section on those forums, so you may provide your input on these changes there as well.
Thank you all for your continued support, and here to many great things to come!

Original post from 10/2013 is below...
Hey fellow players! In response to some recent threads and previously started chat channels, I have created a new chat channel for all players who wish to be able to run dungeons, skirmishes, and other events, without using cheats or exploits. This channel is open to all, and is called NW_Legit_Community. You can easily join this channel by typing /channel_join nw_legit_community
A convenient bind to allow easy typing into the channel is:
/bind numpad7 "startchatwith /c nw_legit_community "
Then you only need press 7 on the numpad, type what you want to say, then press enter, to type into NW_Legit_Community.
Happy hunting!

Basic Rules of Conduct
***Version 1.2***
1. Keep discussions in the channel relevant to the game - no discussions of politics, religion,
or other unrelated topics, (race, ethnicity, sexual preference, etc). *UPDATE* Conversations of other topics will be tolerated as long as they do not overshadow or interfere with game-related ones.
2. Keep chat at a PG-level. *UPDATE* Players who do not wish to see profanity should make use of the profanity filter - I would prefer that players keep things toned down regarding vulgar language, but I can understand if it is used sparingly. Attempts to circumvent the profanity filter will not be tolerated, however - if you are going to curse, at least spell it correctly so the filter blocks it for people that don't want to see it.
3. Be patient with other players - we have people of all different skill levels, across many
different languages and age-ranges. If someone isn't understanding something or has questions,
please be considerate of their position, and either refrain from negative comments or offer
constructive advice. *UPDATE* No "naming and shaming" of other players is permitted in the channel - if there is an issue with a particular player, please contact a GM.
4. No spamming - no advertising of real money transfers or the sale of any other goods or
services, (in-game or otherwise). When looking for a team or trying to recruit others to your
team, please don't flood the channel with those requests.
5. No Pay to Win / P2W discussions - Please keep all debates about the game being pay to win, pay for power, or other similar topics out of channel discussions.
Other channel notes:
~ There is no official loot policy for NW_Legit_Community - Please discuss terms with your team and adhere to whatever is decided.
~ I would prefer not to see any sort of class or gearscore elitism in-channel. If you are forming a team, you are of course free to choose whomever you like, but at the very least, please keep these kinds of exclusionary topics to a minimum.

I just wanted to reach out to the community; With Module 4 on the horizon, I thought I'd put it out there that I think it's time we got some more operators on the channel. To-date, there's been a committed group of tight-knit and caring folks who have helped keep order on the channel, and I am deeply grateful for their contributions, but I think we need more coverage.
If you think you are the kind of caring and patient person who is willing to step in and help maintain a fun, friendly atmosphere that fosters legitimate and cooperative play, then please send me a private message of about 100 words, explaining why you feel you'd make a good candidate for the job. Please be sure to include your time zone and typical hours of play. While I don't judge a person's capabilities on number of hours per week they play, I would prefer people who are on several times a week, vs only playing once a week, for instance. I'd also like to know you have at least one character that can get to each zone, (including IWD, Dread Ring & Feywild).
Once more, I thank everyone who contributes to NW_Legit_Community in a positive way! Congrats, Legits!
I would like to hold some "Legit Community Events" in the future, so if anyone has any ideas, please share them in this thread.
One last note - this position can potentially impact many players, so I ask that you take your application seriously, and be aware that any abuse of power, should you be accepted, will not be tolerated.

6. Of course, the whole motivation for creating the channel was to provide a haven for those that don't want to cheat/exploit, and don't want to team with those that cheat or exploit, either. As such, please do not discuss or promote the details or use of any cheat or exploit. *UPDATE* PWE/Cryptic reserves the right to define what a cheat or exploit actually is - the examples provided below don't cover all instances, so please use your best judgement when playing.
So what is a cheat/exploit? Since it covers so many possible activities or behaviors, I shall limit the discussion to those that specifically affect dungeons. I break them down into 2 categories:
A. Map cheats - using unintended holes or glitches/flaws in the terrain to skip content and/or gain an unintended advantage over the enemies. This can also include utilizing game mechanics in a way that wasn't intended - like campfire suicide runs. Generally, though, this means things like finding a hole that lets you pass through a barrier and so on.
B. Enemy AI cheats - this is where you exploit a flaw or limitation in the enemy AI to gain an advantage. I'm not talking about simply taunting or luring enemies away - I'm referring to situations where you can get an enemy to be unable to attack you, while you are at no risk whatsoever, or other such behaviors.
The above is in no way exhaustive, and I prefer that conversations in the channel stick to the "spirit" of the rules, rather than their literal word.

Some general notes on common loot modes:
Greed / Greed All: You must either choose greed or pass on all items.
Need / Need All: Expect everyone to choose "need" on any items that they can. If you want an item, choose need. Otherwise, you might as well pass.
Need if you can use it: Based heavily on the honor system - you may choose "need" on an item if an item is something you can use and is an improvement over what you already have.
Please feel free to contribute to this discussion if you have something constructive to add. Thanks again for your time.

However if anybody sees I am online (normally in the middle of the night for most players) and you guys saw something which you think was not addressed feel free to send me a PM and let me know. I am not always watching but I am always willing to look into any situation or have an open ear to a complaint.
Indeed. I am also available for the same reasons Ambi has stated.

A few ideas I have thus far:
1. Costume contest (armor, fashion, or both).
2. Screenshot contest.
3. Literary contest of some sort, (joke, poem, limerick, etc).

Thanks for the feedback. I am leaning toward a screenshot contest myself. I think I have a neat idea for a different spin on things, though, (more details to come soon).

I've always wondered how split runs work. Since you cannot trade ad, how exactly does the person who sells things give you your share of the ad?

Since we have a really large community now, i'd love to get everyone together in a zone (if possible) and grab some pictures of us all as a community too. (It should look awesome as a desktop/screensaver picture!)
I'm also happy to donate something small as a prize too for an event (I was originally going to offer a blue skele dog but Akro sort of made that gesture redundant ) but i'm sure i can work out an alternative.
This might be the answer you're looking for I hope!
/channel_join nw_legit_community
typing this really dont work for me, nothings changed
That is how you join the channel. If you haven't already, perhaps consider trying the bind to allow easy typing in channel:
/bind numpad7 "startchatwith /c nw_legit_community "
Split runs worked far better a year ago when tons of guilds and players were farming CN endlessly.
Basically, someone becomes the banker. He needs on the final loot while everyone passes. He keeps tabs on who came to the run and how much the item sold for. He keeps tons and tons of records of this.
When a player wants to cash out, they simply tell the banker and the banker can either buy items and give it to the player or the player could post a healing potion for say 12,000,000 if that is the amount owed.
I've personally had a 20,000,000 payout because I ran with a particular group for quite a bit and didn't need the ad for a while. I also ran CN heavily when PVE was actually rewarding so that 20mil wasn't THAT time consuming as new players would like to imagine.
1. If you look at my signature, you'll see a tinyurl link to the channel rules. I use the link shortening service because there is a pretty strict limitation on how long a signature can be, and it is somewhat difficult to copy-paste information in-game, (the rules link is also in the channel details/MotD).
2. While the nw_legit_community is open to all, it is a private channel - if you do not agree to the rules outlined for conduct within the channel, then do not use the channel. I am sorry that it has to be this way, but as the channel has grown, the need for moderation and stricter rules became apparent.
3. You can go into the channel properties and type in someone's @handle (minus the '@' symbol) to check their access level to the channel - if they are of any rank other than "user", (such as operator, administrator, etc), then they are a channel moderator, and their instructions should be heeded.
4. Channel moderators make every effort to diffuse a situation before taking action - if you are warned (by a moderator) to cease a line of discussion or end a particular topic, and do not, then do not be surprised to find that you have been muted. If you feel that a moderator has acted inappropriately against you, make sure to grab a copy of the chat that led to your muting/being kicked and send it to me in-game @biostem. Be aware that the moderators similarly take logs of their actions, so be ready to back up your complaint.
To those of you who abide by the rules and help strengthen what has become a great community, I heartily thank you!
