Module 6 at the earliest, we won't be given information for availability or which class for a while I don't think.

Whats the point..
Can any of you realistically get through more then 1-2 alts anymore?
Ive given up, my two classes are CW/GWF now, I will work on DC if after it goes live and if I like it, will play it , otherwise I will then choose between the hr/tr/sw as to what I want to play. SW is really powerful, but I just feel redundant between the cw/sw in terms of play. So Ill play 2-3 classes, the rest are just prayer alts.
But I just no longer can play that many classes, I will in general try to do dailies on some of them to keep up , sorta.
Im really disappointed , extremely disappointed they SO VASTLY changed this game from going from being able to play alts, to not being able to play them at all. ITs a bad change and its because of the REALLY boring content they poured on us in ToD.

You hit the nail on the head! I started playing 6 main characters, but I mostly play my TR now and my SW a little (going through DR and Shar boons now). There is just no time to play several toons the way the Modules have created so much grind time now, especially for a casual player. To me, it started with IWD, not ToD.
The hard-core gamers probably have more time for this stuff.
However, I am a bit excited about the possibility of a druid coming! I always liked druids - probably because I like hiking, camping, and being in the woods in real life.

Yep, they have released a new class every 2 modules, so if they keep the pace we *should* see the new class (druid would be a good bet, but we don't know yet) in module 6, but we also know well that mod 5 is not a "real" module (it's just a content patch for module 4), so the new class could shift to module 7.
Classes were balanced in mod 1 with 5 classes. CW was too strong because 3 CW in CN but other classes were balanced. How it is now is total disaster, last thing this game needs is another class.
Tairev-TR(All kind of killing tools) Asha-DC(Faithful-Anointed Champion) Vilgefortz-CW(Thaumaturge-balance)
If I were to start a new character, my mindset would have to be to take it slow, one campaign at a time with maybe a little dabbling in others if my playtime allowed on any day. The worst thing to do would be to get a new character and try to do every daily every day. Talk about burnout!
I hated Sharandar for a while, but when I ONLY focused on Sharandar, I actually kind of enjoyed it. IWD was the same thing. Easy to progress as long as you weren't ALSO trying to do Dread and Sharandar and Dragons at the same time.
Anyway, my point is, if a new class does come out, the best way to make one would be to go slow with the boons and enjoy it, rather than trying to speed and catch up to your current characters. That way would only lead to frustration and a real feeling of a grind.
Of course, I'm a pve player and don't have the need to try to get a pvp toon up to a respectable point that matches players who spend more money or have more time than I do to play.
My alts are filled with blue gear, R5s and no boons.
I still like to have them though... just to see how things work on their classes... and I like to play a little with them, even because my buffy GWF is H-O-T.
Okay... uhm... back on topic: I'm betting 24k AD on Druid @ M6.

90% sure it's druid.
Thinking it will be buffer/DPS hybrid, not sure. Have some summon spells. See the shamans in IWD.
They said they plan something big in Mod6, which might be even a too big term for just a new class. Maybe best though, we need balance over addition currently.

If they did something like increase the level cap or just add another difficulty they can overhaul the whole thing since it's all too messy.
Whatever it is I hope it has some interesting mechanics , D&D wiki says this about 4th edition Druids -
4th edition
In 4th edition, druids are controllers, the same role as wizards. Like all controllers, druids' capabilities are focused on multi-target damage, debuffing and battlefield control. In addition to their controller capabilities, druids can also lean towards the leader role, gaining buffing and damage prevention capabilities, or the striker role, emphasizing mobility and single-target damage.
Can D&D Druids Shapeshift? that would be interesting , especially if they have more than one form they can shift into.

This is just idle speculation (with a hefty dose of dreaming), but I would love to see the 3 feat trees for a Druid each be tied to a specific animal shape.
At lvl 10 the Druid would gain the ability to shape-shift into a Wolf (or whatever, wolf works for now) by using the TAB key. This would be the default form and would be further supported by the middle feat tree.
The top tree of feats would be the "Bear" tree, culminating in a Bear form as the capstone (which would replace the wolf form entirely), the Bottom feat tree could be the "Mountain lion" form (tired of everything being a panther, but I suppose that could work as well).
I would envision the Wolf form/tree to be focused primarily on party buffing and control. Entangling roots, flanking bonuses, some healing, party movement bonuses. The cap stone would be a boost to the wolf form with additional bonuses to human form casting.
The Bear tree would be the "tanky" tree without turning the druid into a tank. Party defensive buffs, slightly better healing bonuses, extra control resistance and possibly a build-up power/damage bonus based on how much damage the Bear is taking. But no additional aggro-generating skills, this is not meant to replace a GF.
The Lion form/tree would be about single target control and DPS, more TR like than the other options. To make it more interesting I would like to see lifesteal buffs and single target controls with little or no healing bonuses to the party. This would most likely be the solo choice, but care would have to be taken to make sure that it would still be useful in a group, some sort of party wide combat advantage damage bonus and/or a way to give the party CA would work if done correctly.
Anyway, I was mainly just thinking out loud, but I am hopeful that a Druid class in NW would be a lot of fun to play. However, the class that I most want in this game is a BARD.

That's not really how 4e Druids work. You're thinking more WoW, which is fine, it's just not the same. You don't gain additional stats. "You choose a specific form whenever you use wild shape, and that form has no effect on your game statistics or movement modes." And you don't get spells in wild shape either unless they're classified as Beast Form abilities. So a buffing animal would be out of the question. You can sustain spells though, so it's more likely you'd start out a battle in human form, buff, CC, then go beast mode to melee.
The druid is a controller class that can lean either to leader or striker depending on how you go. Primal Guardian is more tanky, Primal Predator is more striking.
As for the animal shape itself. I'm guessing they'll throw in a shape they choose, that's already in the files, and call it a day. I'll be surprised if we get multiple choices to choose from.

last class we got was magic-ish, last 2 classes we got are ranged(at least for pve)
Whether we want them or not, I am pretty sure Druids are coming. It was alluded to by the devs previously so i would think that it is a foregone conclusion. The best we may hope for is that Druids get pushed back and another class comes out before them, but don't hold your breath.

Yeah, I don't think it's really their choice though. Remember anything to do with classes has to go through WotC to get approved. The books aren't even allowed to deviate their character class from the ones available. I'm sure wild shape will be on the tab ability. It'll be like the rangers dual stance. You'll have spell powers to pick, with a second wild shape power attached. Change in and out with tab.

I agree. My suggestions were simply that, a way to make it a little more intersting than having all Druids switch to the same animal all the time. I can already see several pitfalls in my suggestions, I was mainly just throwing it out there for dscussion.
Why, cause i love my GF, but sadly he is nowhere near a DnD GF, he was a disaster for over a year and now only a "living" punching bag, the fighter word is at wrong place. Either you make a GF a decent (not good) fighter, then he is squishy or you waste tons of money and pray to the RNG gods and you can make a Hp monster with no fighting capabilities.
So a nice Paladin could fix the whole the GF has made or to be precise, was made.

I voted for Druid before I realised how old this thread is. But I suppose it still counts towards Module 6.
My first two characters were DC purely because there was no Druid in the game.
My second choices would be Bard and Monk. I enjoyed them both in IWD and IWD II, and also in Neverwinter Nights and the expansions.
Barbarian
The GWF is sort of a Barbarian; two-handed weapon, medium armour, no shield, no missiles. Unstoppable is basically Berserker Rage by another name. I can't really see another, similar melee class that would be sufficiently different or interesting.
Paladin
The GF seems to be a bit like a Paladin now with his party buffs (except no direct healing and even the Cleric cannot Turn Undead)
Psion
This might be interesting, but with two CWs and two SWs maybe not different enough.
Shaman
Seems pretty much like a diluted Druid to me, although things may be different in 4E.
Sorcerer
Well, this is basically another SW, isn't it?
Swordmage
? Melee weapons, but ranged and AoE Encounters/Dailies?
Warlord
Return of the Son of Guardian, but with some dps?
Invoker
This is what the Neverwinter CW basically is - an Elementalist Invoker (Fire, Ice and Lightning) with high dps AND the ability to permanently immobilise you while you melt.
Battlemind
Never heard of it. Some sort of Psionic character?
Runepriest
Ditto, but some sort of DC/Shaman/Druid specialising in ground-based Rune traps like Chains of Blazing Light, except they actually work?
Seeker
Ditto, but it sounds like some sort of Priest or Monk.
Spellscarred
Another spell caster?
Nah - for me, Druid, Monk and Bard.
I'd buy New Character Slots just to play them.

This thread remains relevant until we get a new class. Just as was done before when we got the Hunter Ranger and then again here with the Scourge Warlock, when a new class is introduced or announced, this thread will be made anew. The same goes for our "The "New Race(s)" Feedback Thread," in respect to new races. These threads do not pertain to any Module but instead apply to the over-all wish of players to have a new class or race regardless of the next Module.
