For HR though Only Wood Elf Halfling Half-Orc Human Drow Moon and Sun Elfs can get 20 In dex with a 18 13 13 roll. Thats said i learned alot more about HR thanks to it actually launching then i ever did testing on preview so this guild will be getting Constant updates.

Which is why the Dex/Wis combo races are so strong for HR; 20 Dex, 15 Wis and 13 Str is already 23/18/16 at level 60 with campfire with no optional bumps, drop 1 optional in Dex and 4 in Wis and use the others for Int/Cha and things start looking good all around for the HR.

You stated you wanted intelligence for a more smooth combination of cooldowns and overall damage. I rolled a Tiefling for this and took +2int/cha bonus. This gave me 13str/16dex/15wis along with 13int/cha and ofc 9 con. Low on the con side, but everything else looks fine to get within the breakdown % for Arp, crit and CDR(int).
Hoping to see what it brings to the table as I progress with my HR Talon

Would you suggest starting with 20/15/13 or 18/15/15, preferably ending up with 26/21/15?
Also, what happens with the lvl 60 +1 stat if you have one stat already maxed, sitting at 26? Does it become 27 or what happens to that +1 point then?

I noticed a recent update to my thread wasn't posted here yet, so I'll post a comment here.
I made an edit to my original prediction. In the past, I estimated a crit % of 37% would be optimal, but I did not consider that Correcting Aim stacks. With that knowledge in mind, the new optimal crit chance is much, much lower. In fact, it's so low that there is no need to stack any crit whatsoever, assuming an Archery/Archery hybrid build. Whatever crit your gear and Wisdom gives you will automatically be sufficient. Of course, having a chance above 20% would be good, but there should be no effort to stack crit on gear. For example, as voltomey said, 1k crit (a majority of this from the CN bow set) is perfect in combination with a solid Wisdom stat.
This isn't to say that not stacking crit is better than stacking, though. You will crit more often with higher percentages; it's just less necessary to stack so high than I originally predicted. Which leads to an interesting question: while crit is important (especially for non-Archery builds), since it isn't necessary to stack so much of it, what else should be stacked? Of course, we could just stack power and/or recovery, but would that be optimal?
Why do I even care about optimal? Just do whatever you have the most fun with, fellow players Just remember: things can change. I originally predicted a number far higher than what's really the best. I don't like admitting I was wrong originally, but it's true; I have to remain fluid to be effective. So, don't adamantly stick to one idea or one build; keep your minds and options open.
Also, what happens with the lvl 60 +1 stat if you have one stat already maxed, sitting at 26? Does it become 27 or what happens to that +1 point then?
The maximum you can have without campfire is 26, and you get the +1 from campfire for 27 (its what 1 of my CWs has).
For my Live Tiefling I rolled
Str 13
Con 10
Dex 17
Int 10
Wis 14
Cha 10
With +2 Int/Cha from racial.
At 60 my stats without campfire will be;
Str 13 +2 = 15
Con 10 +2 = 12
Dex 17 +6 = 23
Int 12 +3 = 15
Wis 14 +4 = 18
Cha 12 +3 = 15
Aiming for Royal Guard for my t2 set.

Looking forward to seeing your thoughts as well. I might do one myself at some point focusing on my Recovery build, but it's still a ways off. I didn't test on preview so I wouldn't feel right making a guide without getting to 60 and playing it for a week or two first.
After going through the ability scores, there is a concern as to how many stats you would want on the ranger.
There are ability rolls of 81 which is the highest amount of stats you can accumulate from at character creation.
Half orc: 15 str 11 con 17 dex 12 int 14 wis 12 cha
Wood elf: 13 str 11 con 17 dex 12 int 16 wis 12 cha
HALFLING?!: 13 str 13 con 17 dex 12 int 14 wis 12 cha
drow: 14 str 11 con 17 dex 12 int 15 wis 12 cha
high elf: 13 str 11 con 17 dex 14 int 14 wis 12 cha
half elf: 14 str 13 con 15 dex 12 int 15 wis 12 cha
dwarf: 13 str 13 con 15 dex 12 int 16 wis 12 cha
Tiefling cannot achieve 81 stats on a hunter ranger, because none of the ability bonuses are in a hunter ranger primary stat.
Highest is 80 stats total for the tiefling.
Human lack the double ability bonus to reach 81 and 80 stats in total. However they are arguably on par with most races with their 3 heroic feat points that can grant them an advantage in certain builds.
The 81 stat point roll is arguably the best roll for any all around/balanced character. Remember these rolls were made for the hunter ranger class. The rolls for other classes will look similar, just allocated on other primary/secondary ability scores.
human and wood elf are the best choices for ranger
if your going down the archery path/feats.and if your
aiming for high critical chance.

currently a Wood Elf ranger/archery path
with 20 dex, 15 wis, 13 str, aiming for
25 dex, 20 wis, 15 str, 11 int, 13 cha,
at level 60.
Only if you are determined to have high stat-based dps only.
The way you prioritize your stats makes you focus on dps alone. Voltomey also addresses that having high intelligence can increase your dps due to more up time on encounters/dailies.

yea, long range heavy hitter. well thats the goal. and if they ever add in an ability score store
i would gladly re-roll my ability score to test out other abilities.

I went with a dwarf rolled 14str 14con 16dex 13int 17wis 13cha, gonna put point in dex every time, but atm im thinking only 20/21 wis then res into int for that faster re-use, based only on my absolute stinkyness at swapping to melee for more encounters lol.
So since i can't create a thread atm...
i have a few questions, some which are in this guide but clarifaction would be great
im level 24 atm, and wondering if aimed shot is worth replacing split shot? also, is it possible to "screw" my character, or is it fine as long as i don't go for super end-game stuff? realized i chose poorly for my stats (have a ton of dex but put a point in charisma instead of wis) and another, i think this guide mainly focuses on end-game stats, but what should i try for while leveling? been doing power/defense for the most part, since i usually only get greens. and, a non-ranger question, what exactly is worth selling on the AH? i got a little success with the lockboxes, then they plummeted in price
lastly, is a hybrid melee/ranged build viable at all? it's real fun to be able to play both playstyles, but it feels a little weak, maybe i don't have the right feats?
Aimed Shot vs Split Shot: these powers serve very different purposes and so they do replace each other under different circumstances (or Aimed replaces Rapid). Your routine power set will likely remain Rapid/Split for most circumstances but 3/3 in aimed shot is not 3 wasted points.
Stats: the more you plan your stats the easier life will be at 60. High dex isn't a problem, nor is trading points off dex to wis, cha, or int, the only stat that (generally) doesn't need much investment is str; yet even str is needed depending on the gear you aim for in end game.
Gear Stats: Power/Crit/Recovery/Regen are the main ones to look for, Armor Pen will come along readily on HR gear as do defence and deflect. Defence, Deflect and Life Steal need big numbers for significant effect so I don't find them particularly useful during levelling.
Selling on AH: Once you hit epic then its easier to find things worth selling on the AH, end game items have the most value especially those that belong to sets.
Hybrid: Absolutely its a good build! Note that while levelling Aspect of the Pack Wolf and Aspect of the Serpent are the best class features (eventually Pack becomes for party play and you use Twinblade Storm for solo play). The thing about this is that Pack Wolf grants CA (while within 2-3 shifts of an ally at 3/3) and bonus damage for CA comes from Charisma.
Back to stats;
Str: ArP & Stamina
Con: HP
Dex: Dmg & Deflect
Int: Recharge
Wis: Crit
Cha: CA dmg.
There are basically 2 choices for epic gear; ArP or Crit. Guess how that affects your stat allocations... Given that 24% reduction from ArP is the target for PvE and the armour choices and a 15 Str (without campfire) will readily get you to that and you can still get a good crit using Wis and off armor enchants.
Hope that helps.

Hmm... now that i reached 60 i still lack of stamina althought i have 19 str and all stamina regen feats. So i disagree with all this 'you dont really need strenght for a hr'.
My first char is a healer dc and what sux most for a healer? ...the dps glasscannons! So i choose half-elf for my hr cuz of the bonuses in con. I dont like the traits from drow and the traits from wood-elf aint worth it cuz u can stack crt ingame. With half-elf u get crt severity and defl (and so that gold now became more important u get 1% more gold with half-elf).
I really wanna see a dps spec with 26 dex, 21 wis, 15 str, 12 con, 12 int and 10 cha. It will b impossible for good teamplay i think. I can hear them already crying for cover cuz they cant dodge the adds they lured. But this is the same to all classes i think...
hello iam new here i need to ask a few question hope someone can help me ? im recently a lvl 18 HR..and i picked some skill..but is there a way to extend the skillbar hotkey ? or is it just tab,Q,R,E,left click and right click ? or is there anyway i can extend the skillbar hoekey because the skill i used is not enough to put ? sorry for my stupid english..NEED HELP !!!
Thats all you get are 3 encounter 2 at wills 2 class features and 2 dalies you will change to change a encounter power dailie or encounter

I rolled a wood elf ranger with 20 dex, 15 wis, 13 str was that a good choice :X?
I did the same.. I have been putting 1 point into Dex, Wis, and Cha (More combat advantage dmg)... I want more crit lol... Just hit lvl 30 and have 25% crit chance.... Most of my enhancements are Rank 4 Crit and I have 1 Rank 4 Power... Trying to get to Rank 5 crit but it takes alot of diamonds to do that... Loving the class so far.......Can't wait to try out Split the Sky
and also im started the attribute with 19dex,16wis,13str,11con,11cha,11int ..is it good and balanced or is it ruin lolx ?? and what does wis do for us i dont really understand
It's a perfectly solid starting set of attributes.
Hover your mouse over wisdom and it will tell you what it relates to.
The right to command is earned through duty, the privilege of rank is service.
I would say that any build can have at least three 20's with campfire.
A question regarding rotiations.
I haven't been able to test anything at level 60 yet, but I am really curious as to how rotations work on each of the builds; Archer, Hybrid and Melee.
Perhaps a topic around these would help a lot of new players.
I ask specifically because I would like to make a full on melee HR, but it seems the Aspect of the Serpent makes it near impossible not to be a hybrid build. Some thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
and also im started the attribute with 19dex,16wis,13str,11con,11cha,11int ..is it good and balanced or is it ruin lolx ?? and what does wis do for us i dont really understand
It is possibly the best way you could start. Adding all the numbers will give a total of 81 stats. This is the highest achievable amount of ability scores you can get from character creation. I would even say that is balanced as well since you will end up with 26/23/16/14/14/14 with campfire buffs. This would be the best dps statline imo.
