No one else can lose half their players in one patch like Cryptic can.

On a serious note. I will be quitting if this goes live.

I bet they change the item enchantment so that coal wards become useless. Haven't check the preview server on the new enchant process.

I can guarantee you that it is still very useful in the enchantment system. There is still the same fail/success chances as the current system.

This is a really terrible idea.

On another note, I haven't gotten a coal ward in my last 8 coffers.

The chance - however small - of getting a coal ward from these coffers is one of the few things keeping this game from being full blown P2W. Very terrible idea on the devs part.

Not to mention that for people who have finished their sharandar dailies, the new coffer is pretty worthless. If this change had come with module 1 it might have received a different response, as everyone was still working on getting their sparks then. But now it seems asinine.

Really disappointed that this idea would even make it to the test shard. I'll bet a dollar it makes it to live.

Coal wards still provide the exact same function under the new refining system as under the current fusing system.

I'm going to guess it was a mistake, because why would you release a coffer that gives bonuses to the campaign at the END of the module? Most likely this was something they had kicked around doing prior to Feywild launching, but obviously (and with good reason) decided to nix. However, I'd love to see an official response.

However, given it's a Sunday, I won't expect anything until tomorrow morning.

The new system is a little underwhelming really. As far as I can tell it just lets you use different enchants or runestones to upgrade. The chances of success are the same so wards are still vital.

If the removal of the coffer does go ahead it will be yet another aspect of the game that casuals like me can no longer take part in. It's the Auction House for yet more gear :/ Really bad change imo.

Agreed, this has to be a mistake. Or if they do replace it, IDK why theyd make it sharandar stuff.

This is why I'm guessing it's a mistake. Either that or they're planning an ENORMOUS reduction in the prices of C. Wards on the Zen market.

I highly doubt it's a mistake. Perfect enchantments are so difficult to obtain right now that basically the only way to get them is to spend money on them, and while Cryptic doesn't want players to feel that way, I bet the money counters want it that way.

If we see any changes from here on the coffers, it will be to include items used for progressing through the new campaign - I'm betting it's goodbye to any opportunity to make an enchantment without paying real money or spending loads of AD on the auction house (to buy from someone who DID pay real money).

So I really hope this is...

A.) A bug (Based on it being a "green" option after a "blue" option) especially since dread ring will be the new thing, unless they plan to have a choice between the old and new option and its just not working right now all.

B.) An indication that the Zen price will plummet to something like 200 Z

C.) An indication that like much of the refinement stuff it will now drop form dungeons and have a chance form other locations (like the Marks)

If none of the above (banter banter nerd rage explosion) Long story short it will devalidate the entire progress of the refinement system being "Easier" in anyway way and remove any notion that it was a better/faster/easier/more accessible system. Also cue *Pay to win*, *doom and gloom*, *killed the game* nerd rages (justified if $10 USD is the only way to get them)

*Edit* PS: Also It's wrong the description of reward doesn't even match the box description

At the very least, if it were to come to pass. It should be stuff for Shadowmantle and not Sharandar.

First I was like AHAHAHAHA, the I was wait, WHAT?!1 I have 15 characters, and still I haven't got a single coalescent ward in the past 2 weeks. If these changes go live, I'll leave this game, 100% info. None of my characters has Normal weapon/armor enhancement, because I sell these wards to buy stones/cats or use services like respec. This change will kill the game for me.

Sharandar content is still going to be acessable while Shadowmantle is released, right? If that's the case then having a sharandar box makes sense for those looking to gain sparks legitimately quicker PLUS releasing something for shadowmantle as well.
contents to be decided

On the other hand, players ARE trading off wards for keys and other stuff and not even using them on their account. Who's the people that is really greedy? IMO the players are way more greedy. Hate to say it but, even in a free game I see players at level 60 with no gems in their gear just to get the extra diamonds. IMO hate me if you like, but it is a proper move for a company seeking to make a profit, and you cannot tell me you would do any different.
Some of these players (like the one above) have multiple accounts / 15+ characters only to invoke for extra goods, which then turn into diamond profit for the player only to squeeze out an extra freebie from a already free game. Sad. Players need to start coughing up some fee some time out of appreciation for the game at least.

IMO smart move... Why are only the people that have 10 accounts get to have the bonus while legit paying customers suffer and get crapped on by having to tow the line of freebee scrubs through dungeons and such. Another reason why votekick will be nice, to kick the cheap cockroaches when they show up with no gems in their gear. Why should players have to work harder because they are cheap?

and the people who are saying they are gonna quit, Can I have your stuff? nm...We already know the answer to that...I mean if your that cheap why give away anything or do anything for anyone right?

This is probably a direct result of people botting the game as well...just remember everytime you do not report a scrub cheater we all pay for it in the long run.

Refining stones are different from wards and the coffer in question isn't from the leadership profession.

Thinking about it, my guess is that the Sharandar box is merely a placeholder. Kinda like how the dwarf playing Quartermaster talked about Sharandar.

If that's the case it still means they are messing with the 7 day reward. But we don't really know what they are changing about it. They could just be adding a box in that has a chance to contain the reagents too or something. Gotta be hopeful here.

Yes, but 10 sparks and some crescents aren't a reasonable 7 day reward. Also with the Sharandar stuff being old, I'm hoping its just a placeholder for whatever they are putting in.

So let me get this right. You don't like people with no enchants yet are happy for them to remove coal wards for free players so that you're less likely to find people with weapon/armour enchants.

Is it so hard to put in a level 4 enchant? level 5 maybe? At least something, but NOTHING? Get out of here man, I don't feel like carrying cheap people through dungeons...Sorry! that is just me. Also did I mention that is fricking CHEAP?

Happy? no... But I sure see why they did it. People are feeding off the Coal wards to pay for their services and trading the wards for other things like keys and such. Why reward tightwads? Next they will get rid of the invoking period and no more free diamonds at all. Look at all the gold selling and botting goin on IN A FREE GAME yet.... makes me sick people are trying to profit in a free game, talk about abusing something given to you in good faith. As far as people that don't chant their gear and sell the chants for diamonds... that irks me and is a pet peeve now of mine in this game. That is the most tightwaddish thing i've seen yet.

Again, I am not HAPPY persay but take it from their point of view, something I am sure they won't admit but is as plain as day. ;)

It is not hard for a game maker to sit and watch chat and see how people are HAMSTER the system to benefit themself only. I believe initially it was a extra bonus given to someone thinking they may use it to upgrade their gear thereby helping others gear up with the bonus stats and such... that sure went out the window did'nt it? Yup they just sell the ward, rinse / repeat and get all services for free.
