Staying on the positive, I'll add that this is a great thread. It will certainly helps folks and I'm sure it is appreciated by many. Munkey has not displayed any arrogance here (imho) and as far as I have seen, always conducts himself in a friendly manner. Cheers.

The very first time I went into PvP, I had no idea what I was supposed to do. It was completely new to me, and the game prompts you to go do it as soon as you're level 10 (or 20 when you get the first PvP daily), but it explains absolutely nothing about rules or scoring in any way. I got through that match and immediately went looking for some kind of tutorial so that I wouldn't continue to feel like a total idiot. At the time, the game was so new I felt lucky to find a single article that explained a few Neverwinter PvP basics.

Any PvPer who goes out of their way to tell other players how to counter them is stand-up, in my books.

    why such a long post?

there are just 2 tips for succesful pvp:

    1. play a permastealthing tr with itc, impact shot and run around throwing knives.
    2. if you don't want to play a permastealthing tr, play a def heavy, regen gwf that can pop unstoppable almost permanently.

that's all new players need to know to succeed in pvp and have fun roflstomping parties where people leave the match after 2 minutes already. then you can easily get the win by just waiting 8 minutes without a single enemy showing up anymore. no reason to bother with any strategies anymore.

Succeeding in PvP honestly is in the eye of the beholder my friend.

Some people might say they had a successful match if they killed 5 people.

Some believe that anytime they are having fun, and having fun with others, then its a success.

You seem angry about specific builds. There are guides and pages upon pages of very well thought out very specific ways in which to counter every single build this game has to offer. The choice is yours if you wish to learn it or not.

I was originally interested in reading this until OP started calling people ****/kid, saying teabagging is good sportsmanship, and telling people to quit the game. This is definitely not a positive or friendly beginner guide that meets standards of other guides on the forums. Isn't there some forum code of conduct that needs to be followed? A lot of pvp communities complain that pvp is dead and needs more attention but the toxic players end up turning everyone off to the idea until the only ones left pvping are the few guilds that treat beginners badly.

From my experience, the pvp is fun and I have yet to meet any toxic players so I still recommend to my friends to play pvp, even without good gear and balanced teams.

despite the fact that this thread was resurrected from the dead (bumping is not allowed to keep a thread alive), i would have been more than happy with letting it live if it had been a constructively written guide, however the end result of this thread has been a lot of mudslinging, disrespect and trolling as well as pvp drama and no one can get anything positive out of this in its current state.

i'm going to propose that the author of this thread's OP as well as anyone else that would like to contribute to please PM me with new and updated ideas for a PvP guide that we will compile and possibly get stickied. i can't make any promises on the stickied part, but i can ask the CMs.

at any rate, if you're interested in contributing, please contact me via PM. if there is no interest, then it likely won't happen. we're talking about a constructive guide that focuses on mechanics of PvP in its current state. this guide could later expand for PvP additions. thanks.
