No regrets about my purchase. Why do I care if other people can still get it? However it's not really worth the same price point as you don't get beta access.. and the countdown on others being able to create Drows has already begun.
Some of you people get outraged at the dumbest things.
Or maybe you're just trying to make yourself feel better about spending $200 on this garbage game and trying to justify PWE/Cryptic lying to their customers straight up.

The only company I've not had to much of an issue with doing that is Blizzard. When I spend the extra money for a Deluxe box set their is a limit on how many they have to sale and once that numbers reached that's it. Yes, occasionally you will see a box set go back up for sale, but very rarely have I seen that happen in my 9 years of playing World of Warcraft.
I'm not sure people are so much (Surprised) as they are probably disappointed that Cryptic marketed the $200 package as being Exclusive.
Yeah, that's about right. They shouldn't be surprised. I'm certainly disappointed in the marketing hype of Neverwinter so far too, but it doesn't make me hate the game or the devs over a minor publishing/marketing issue.
Oh well, it happens and that's life. Cryptic is a company after all and this is yet another way for them too bring in a decent amount of money to keep the game running. The price you pay for a free to play game is that you have to pay for it some how, it wont run off the hopes and dreams of players wanting a truly free game.

Just more greedy, money-grubbing lies and false advertising by PWE. I bought my Guardian Pack on May 6th, 2013 because this forum website said the Founder's Packs would no longer be available on May 9th, 2013. Then the text was changed to say Founder's Packs would no longer be available at the end of May, 2013. Then the text was changed to say the Founder's Packs would no longer be available 'soon'.
Now the Founder's Packs have been made permanently purchasable.
PWE, there are legal ramifications to your falsehoods, as these tactics are akin to obtaining money under false pretenses and false advertising, both of which are illegal business practices.

I don't hate the game, or the people who created it, it's how this type of stuff works. Like I posted a second ago, free to play does not mean (Free To Play). In order to keep this game running Cryptic needs to bring in some type of income, and this is yet another way for them to do that. It's nothing to stress out about, it happens and as pointed out before Cryptic isn't the only company to use this tactic to move their product and bring in money.

Yep.
I can't say I'll lose any sleep over it, after all they do need to make money - but it's yet another small bit of my respect that they've lost for deceiving their players, AKA the whole "Get it while you can!" marketting BS.
True, but didn't you see this coming a mile away? Surely you're smart enough to pick that up, right?
I did, but only because I've been playing MMOs since UO and AO and heard the reputation of these companies, and by nature I'm not very trusting online. Can hardly fault others for not being me, or you, but buying in good faith.

Yup. I remember UO fondly, even thought it had its very rough spots and times. Back then they just gave you a product/service for a price. Everyone paid the same for the same product and everyone was relatively happy. Now in our competitive online world of economics at its most cut-throat, we see money grabs all the time and not everyone is paying the same for the same product/service.
I don't blame WoW or other games, I blame the publishers' marketing teams getting wise to human nature and exploiting it.

Do you have a link for this? I'm a late-comer so I never saw this. All I've seen is that the items are exclusive to the Hero of the North and Guardian packs.

Even they went down hill though. At one point I recall them selling characters with pre-levelled skills and stats. It wasn't a perfect build, but it saved a good chunk of time compared to raising the stuff of a new character.
As for the renamed founder packs the only thing I don't like about them keeping them going is the AD. Without them only so much AD can be pumped into the economy. With the daily caps it takes a player months to *create* as much AD as a single pack. Since they seem to be leaving them in forever I have to wonder if doing dailies and working leadership will ever be profitable.

I bought the $200 founders and don't regret it a bit. I have already gotten hours of entertainment can invite my friends to play a game with me for free, which they have. The gateway feature is also the best thing for a busy gamer, i can be off at work or a hotel and still craft.
If you don't have money to burn then just play for free. And seriously, is all the rant in this thread about a title? This game is brand new and personally I would like to see some races, classes, new zones etc. The more money PWE makes the faster we will get all that.

Exclusivity as a selling point, then exclusivity revoked, is pretty serious manipulation. Of course they will just say its not the same pack, due to semantic details of name and founder title being altered.
As far as outrage? LOL - more like /shrug - 200 dollar fee to find out if the company is trustworthy when entering into agreements that everything stipulated will be delivered, paid by people who are willing to toss money at an unfinished product.

I'm glad I played before all of that. My UO gaming was for about two years, centered around 1999. I was there before the Second Age expansion and right after it. Was great during that error, but it got really awkward later on. I played on the Napa server.

Yup. Not really outraged here either, just sort of a "we told you so" moment. For me, disappointed? Meh, may be a little. Doesn't really change my enjoyment of Neverwinter and there are plenty of more important-to-me battles to be fought over.

I didn't see anyone complaining about the title, though I might have missed it. The thread is jumbled up pretty bad. Probably merged or something. Most seem to be complaining that they bought something that they thought would be limited. Now they are mad everyone else can get it too. I'm just upset that they will keep pumping AD into the game.

The Hero of the North Pack will probably be up until the 60th day, when drow are released. Sure it's petty, but then it'll be a $200.00 pack with a Flying Mount, 6 beers, Drizzt's left peanut, a set of level 70 epics when the next big expansion hits and of course a reskin of the drow race to look like clowns riding unicycles.
Do you have a link for this? I'm a late-comer so I never saw this. All I've seen is that the items are exclusive to the Hero of the North and Guardian packs.
"Edit: Oh and anyone happen to know off hand when the deadline, if there is one, for buying these packs is?
I don't think we've announced an end time, but as Pinpoint noted, you'll want to snag yours in time for the first beta weekend."
Eventually, an End Time was announced for Founder's Packs, and that is why I bought one. Apparently that was a lie.
from ambisinisterr Community Moderator: "The only thing they have said is that it will go through the current weekend. No other details about when the promotions will end have been released." Not IF the promotions will end, but WHEN. Yet another lie.
I am not the only person on these Neverwinter Forums that saw the ever-changing message about when Founder's Packs would "no longer be available" and contained "exclusive items" available for purchase "for a limited time". Apparently PWE's first lie was that these Founder's Packs would only be available until Open Beta started. The first date I saw was May 9th, on this very website, after I began playing Open Beta on April 30th. I bought a Guardian Pack on May 6th. Then May 9th became May. Then it became "soon, so get yours now!". Now they have been made permanent items. This tactic is false advertising, which is an illegal business practice.

Proof positive. At least one other person who has no connection to me confirmed seeing "ending soon" for Founder's Packs on the forum pages. Apparently not ending at all. This tactic is false advertising and is an illegal business practice.
Exclusivity.
"I was there".
Having for others unobtainable things.
Countless reasons more, and even if you don't agree with them, they are valid to those that bought the packs, under the false pretense of them being the only ones who could have these things, since they payed 200-250 USD (depending on euro) for a game they knew little about but supported with wallet and hopes and beta testing.

Interesting. If this is correct then it makes what Cryptic have go from morally dubious to potentially criminal. Should be interesting to see what other game forums/sites make of this........

I'm sorry, but I have to point out that someone saying there is no information about [a thing] does not imply that [the thing] exists. If I say I do not know when or how the world will end, I am not implicitly informing you that it *will* end and that it is only the "when" that is in question. Since the question asked was a 'when' question, it is actually quite appropriate to respond with an "I don't know when" response.
I understand that people are upset and everything, but please, it is a stretch to imply that someone indicating a lack of knowledge about something is lieing simply because of the semantics they used.
Having said that, I am not implying that advertising exclusivity and then reneging is not at the very least a poor business practice and potentially even criminal - I am not well enough versed in business law to make that call.
Wow. I did hurry to buy mine on May 29th because the promotion was gonna be over by the end of May.
This is nearly as infuriating as the Star Trek Online pre-order bonuses. I thought it was gonna be different with Perfect World. It's understandable but still frustrating!
Interesting. If this is correct then it makes what Cryptic have go from morally dubious to potentially criminal. Should be interesting to see what other game forums/sites make of this........
Is it really? Or is it just normal. Companies extend sales all the time and it's not criminal at all. I think false advertising would imply if they offered you the Drow and didn't give you the drow, ever. But saying a sale ends then extending it? That is not false advertising. But don't quote me! I'm no lawyer. Only stating what I seen from Stores, like JC Penny's Sears, Wal Mart even.
These packs were supposed to be unique and now they resell them under different name?!?! Too lazy to make something new?
Good bye Cryptic, good bye Perfect World, I will advise everyone NOT to play your games after this!
You do realise that even with the price the same it knocks a good $40 - $60 off the value without the Founders title and Beta Weekend access right?

People who are saying that what they did is false advertising should note that even if it is false advertising (which it technically isn't, as as far as I'm aware, because the Neverwinter Packs do differ from the Founder Packs, even if only because they don't give the Founder title) in the US the only real punishment for false advertising kicks in if a company continues to use false advertising after being told to stop.

I think what people are saying about false advertising is that they changed the names of the packs to make them 'not the same,' but some of the same items are included which were before listed as 'exclusive to the [Pack_Name] Pack!" which would imply that if these packs are in fact different, they should not include those items.
Specifically, I think that would be the spider Mount, the renegade drow race, and a few other bits and pieces. Now if they'd just decided to change the names of those items, they could theoretically say something like: "sure drow renegades and drow defectors look like the same race, but they are distinct - the renegades were only available in the Founders' packs, and now we're offering defectors... I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few drow in my day..."
This is really bad news. I was hoping the economy would balance out once the founder's packs were gone and the market was no longer flooded with Astral Diamonds.
This news has really depressed me. I am rapidly losing all faith in this game. I'm a very patient, tolerant soul, but I wonder how much longer I'll be able to play before they finally go too far (even for me) and I call it quits.

This will probably depress you even more BUT it isn't the Founders packs that are injecting the AD into the game - it the mass bots running Leadership and Invocation 24/7
Who gives a ratz *** if they are still selling it? No one's forcing anyone to buy it and some of us are happy with our purchase. If someone wants to come along now and pay the same price I did without getting the beta access or a fancy founders title, what does it really matter?
I think it's fantastic they are still offering these packs. I honestly hate it when they offer things like this and then take them away. I can't always afford to pay for them when they offer them. In a case like this I wouldn't have to worry about it.
I just don't understand why people get so worked up about a company doing something nice. Bunch of freaking cry babies.

I am guessing it has to do with "Ha! I got this and you can't have it!" mentality. It is pretty common in gaming I have noticed.

I am guessing it has to do with "Ha! I got this and you can't have it!" mentality. It is pretty common in gaming I have noticed.
Please review my campaign and I'll return the favor.
