Having read most of the posts in this thread. Allot of you require re-training in manners. Moving on. 90% of the questions I've seen can be answered by simply clicking the 'Dev Tracker' portion of these forums. It will answer everything from why the Que numbers are so high, to the idea that there are only 3 servers. (Which is totally wrong fyi). Go educate yourselves, please and thanks!

Did you ever think that if it's 7 AM PDT, which is listed they might actually be in that time zone? Which they are (Redwood City, California). Meaning during normal working hours for them. All companies do the downtime when they have the people normally there, not call them in at 2 AM to do maintenance unless the game's totally down.

And no matter what time it's done, it's going to be inconvenient for someone.

Dude i dont know what companies you have worked in , but the 5 multinationals(Some of them even US companies) ALWAYS do maintenance outside working hours as in when people are NOT or MINIMAL using the service that is being maintained. We get paid to do the extra hours outside working hours to do this , wether it is patching stupid microsoft patches , or virus scanners or stupid software instalations , all is done outside working hours.

It is every single MMO the same tho EU being ****ed. But the MMO business is also the only business that can get away with craping on their customers time and time again , not only the maintenance times , but bugs nerfs and everything else. The total package of mess ups in every single MMO is never acceptable in other non game related companies. Hell i can garantee you you ll most likely get sacked when handling things like game companies(right after you cleaned up the mess).

The first ame company that will NOT mess up like we now all expect them to mess up will actually get alot of money from me, but untill then guess we ll have to hang on and bite the bullet :)

Paid to play persons: What your promised is that you will move to the front of the queue, NOT that you'll be the NEXT one to get in. Do you really think that your the ONLY paid to play person that is trying to log in at this moment? YOU have to get in line with all the others that have paid to play...

This is a BETA, tis not going to be perfect, tis going to have LOTS of problems, that's what an open beta is for. I've seen worse, I've seen better. But if you expect there not to be problems, even the cant get into the game type, you really dont understand what a beta is.

Other games have had issues, WoW everytime they release a new update for the game, I've sat in que's, lagged so bad that it doesnt seem worth it to play. STO went live, and I couldnt get in there either. SWTOR long que's, laggy. It happens people, patience is the key. If you dont have the patience, then give it a few days.

For those comparing the OPEN Beta to the CLOSED Beta, do you really think they had the same number of players?

The que jumping back and forth? Well if you've been around computers for any length of time, then you would know they aint perfect, I doubt that you really dropped back to that many, for me, right now it loves a number in the 177k range, funny though, its always the same number. Sounds like a glitch to me, wait, is this a beta?

The server maintenance time... That time is inconvient for everyone, so lets leave the broken game up and running till a more convient time for everyone. Everyone post your time that that will be convient for you on this line ___ I'de rather them take the game down NOW or anytime they feel the can to try and fix the bugs. At least we have a warning and are not logging in to a down server...

To sum it all up, BETA...

weird the patcher isn't even loading up now...

Also to the above user. This isn't Beta. It's "Beta".

Haven't you noticed how many F2P games are launching and now they're taking your money in "Open Beta"? Just a few years ago asking for money in what a developer calls "beta" was unheard of.

This is common now because they realized that as long as the characters aren't wiped they can pass off bugs and issues under the "Well it's beta" excuse. Why do you think after all these years every developer gives the same tired MMO line about "MMOs are living, breathing things that are constantly growing and changing."

They've just found a way to make money AND to a certain extent "blow off" problems or mechanical failures.

Welcome to the future of MMOs.

This game might never come out of "beta".

1. Europe has one of the smallest gaming population on the planet. 5th I believe. South America was ranked higher.
2. When I call a number on a 1-800 line I have to deal with their "Hours of Operation", why shouldn't you?
3. Why not tell your video game companies make the Americas downtime during their prime time. Oh wait, something about little to no European based game Developers. Interesting.
4. Hate to break it to you, the video game world is not run like most European Entitlement Socialist agendas.
5. Have a great day!

EU has the smallest gaming population?? Not sure if srs...If you're referring to just numbers YES of course its not that big BUT for EU's population the number of players is insane!

There are dozen apon dozens of servers built into 3 shards. Since your statement was totally wrong, does that make you a fail?

Its not actually. France is the biggest, followed by Germany. Those two still don't even equal the Eastern Sea board.
Also I edited my post to say 'one of the smallest'. My apologies.

But I stand by my statement and if I could find the article for reference I would. However, the mere fact that their are little to no
development companies in Europe speak volumes to that.

So that's the reason why all big MMOs are also available in French and German... oh wait.

Interesting. Do you have a source for that knowledge?
Not being a troll here. I am genuinely interested in reading more.

Trying to find it as I speak. I think it was in the NY Times Business section a couple years back.

You forgot spanish. Movies do the same thing. Doesn't actually mean your more or less then another. Simply means they would like some of you that game to consider it. And it still doesn't change it. Even if you use a Per Capital model, Canada has more gamer's then all the smaller european countries. Allot of this has to do with dollars and import export etc. In allot of cases most european gamer's simply do not have access for quite a while after launch. Now the Direct Download era is slowly fixing this.

Please keep in mind that the queue number is having a *display issue* right now, and that your place in the queue is not actually going up. If you keep watching it, it will continue to go down.

So if that's the case then none of this queueing HAMSTER should be happening. Unless of course it's all a deliberate scam onPWE behalf trying to get the OCD'ers out there to buy the $200 ultimate scam pack...

Queues happen. WoW had to bring up new servers when queue times got long. And that was on a mature game. I was part of the population that took a free transfer to a new server due to queue times.
So, demand for access exceeded what was anticipated. They'll fix it.
I also bought a Founder's pack. NOWHERE does it say we get priority access. Would I like it? Of course I would. But I didn't pay for it, and neither did anyone else. We paid for ingame perks, early access to the open beta, and to help defray costs of development. No more, no less.
This IS still open beta, a soft launch, and good load test for demand on the servers.
And for you folks in Europe complaining about the time. This is a global release, SOMEONE is going to be inconvenienced, sorry that it's you lot, but no matter what, someone will be in prime time.
Relax, get some food, alt-tab to a different window, read a book, relax. You'll get there.

But I DO have to say that a "change character" option like STO is VERY much needed here.
