Stopping DDOS attacks on regular intervals has to be a bigger focus. Also.. does Cryptic realize how many Bots are running rampant in game? Thousands ! I'm pretty confidant that all these Bot auto sales, auto loot bots that magically win Lock-box loots like crazy and infesting Ashmidai lair is an economy / game changing event. Millions of runes and enchantments being sold by bot owners without consequence. Lets get real.. No one is able to self loot the requirements to upgrade artifacts to Epic + unless you by them from BOTS-R-US. Reducing the requirements to upgrade said artifacts will pot bots r us out of business AND it will reduce server lag by the now non profitable debunked Bots that will be useless. OR make all enchantments NO DROP and or arc store sold. Then it becomes earned and will most likely reduce server lag.
My feedback&suggestion is about animation, Running animations to be specific. I play mostly a Control Wizard and i hate (HATEEEE!) when i try to move my character while in combat... like with W (forward) or any other variant... It moves like a cripped mantis trying to walk... This has present in some other classes as well, though due to their combat stance its most annoying on wizard. Can we do something about that? Like how about if a character walks/runs normal even in combat the moment you press W, and reassume its weird stance after movement is over? Would that be hard? Thank you!
(ps: if you agree with this please create a thread to get more attention. there are few animation problems like this one and it is super immersion break for a game i think.)
+1 Control wizards are fun to play, but animation is terrible. Opposite is SW, animation is spectacular but it is not so much fun to play. Please fix CW's animation.
Okay, Cryptic investing on some IPS/Firewall services to mitigate DDOS attacks just moved up to number one on my list. Screw the rest.
I can explain what the issue is and why investment measures are not a viable option. The way a Botnet works is thousands of servers are asking simple random questions to the targeted server. These questions in themselves are harmless (time of day, ping rates, etc.) but the way ask over and over, is causing the system to bog down. Kind of like a elementary teacher with a classroom of say 20 kids, botnet is 1,000 more children that are misbehaving. They are not part of the classroom but there is no fool proof way to stop the endless queries.
There are some very costly measures you don't want to pay to upgrade the system. Star Trek, Champions, and Neverwinter all share the same server. More servers means a lot of money and running F2P is not logically financially. Another method is deferment, where the software looks at a system asking stupid questions and sends it to ask another server. But this option only spreads the issue thin and never works 100%. They may even already have that installed, I really don't know.
In the end, we just have to hope the moron gets bored and goes away.
I would like some attention directed at the Foundry. Every Tuesday on the calendar is marked "Foundry Update" for real?
Please look into respec bug. I liked the way the Foundry worked on STO. Why did you change it? I can't work with the author character.
Please put something of real value into playing the Foundry. People work hard making stories the least you can do is reward people who play them.
Assets. Database engineers know exactly what I mean when I say, please turn on the assets. There is no harm in allowing all access to the models inside the hoggs.
Allow the Foundry to work in offline mode. I don't chat with others while working. Forcing a network connection is just futile. You know as well as I do the files are saved on my hard drive. This would give the authors the ability to work during patches to the game as well.
Thank you for your attention in this matter.
Fame is a vapor, popularity an accident; the only earthly certainty is oblivion. ~ Mark Twain
zec and nil, i agreed, i really do hate these stuck combat animation, reason why? you cant jump when needed while on that combat mode. devs really need to check those jump ability, it look like having one good leg to jump when you need both.
i didn't read the all comments before i write this so i might be telling same thing but my main issue is lag in the game . Dread Ring, Sharandar etc. is ok we used to it but last 2 patch ı am getting so hard lag in wheel of dragons too specially in dragon runs and tiamat. When i teleport in tiamat sometimes can't even walk. in theese cases need to change character many times until lag passed. which means ı am will tp last instance and fail tiamat. thats my mail issue and sorry for my english
We need more HEs. Not enough of them, they are fun and "mechanic" around them is just beautiful... Please erase contents of dungeons (all 3 of them in D&D game) and put random HEs inside... like you did with CN... -.-
Also remove all storylines, they don't make sense anyway!
I was going to create a seperate thread for this but sadly for some reason (even though i'm a member since 2013) it doesnt allow me to create threads in forum. perhaps its because i was mostly passive... Anyway!

I had to comment on this, because this is so true. The "Wizard's Walk" is just plain silly, like she's doing the cat scratch dance. I know what's missing in the animation and in the game for the wizard's class for that matter. NO STAVES!!!!!!!!! Not even wands. Last I checked even D&D v4 still had staves and wands as items (as they over simplified things and took the guts out of the game).
If Cryptic did put wands and staves in the game, then you'd have a proper wizard with the right animation to go with it.
I agree with that. CW needs a new combat stance. The current walking style looks weird, and it's not just one or two players' feelings. The feedback had been made multiple times a long time ago, and sadly we still have that walking style till today.
1)refining our artifacts is taking a bit much to do. refining point need to be upped. 2)need to have a gold to ad converter, 3) allow for characters to put bound items into the bank for other characters on account to use. like old mounts and stuff. 4) make characters more compatible, tired of my wizard & ranger not doing the damage of a great weapon user or paladin. 5) bring down the prices on things and you'll find you sell more. PLEASE!!!
i would like to see a system for 3 sets of powers pre selected for vip holders Press 8 to rotate through loadouts... as an hr i have at least 2 and often 3 different sets of powers i use in a single dungeon run based on lots of adds or single target boss fight and overall party composition is a factor in power selection too... this forces me to use sub optimal rotation when switching from the run to the bosses to the boss fight or i have to hold up entire party to change powers 2 to 3 times a dungeon run.... and tiamat ..... no time or break to swap powers when transitioning from clerics phase to attacking tiamat... also forget moonstone give me teleport to protectors garden !
Hi all, I am a 25 year veteran of RPG's. Started with pen and paper original Dungeons and Dragons by of course the godfather of all RPGS Gary Gygax. I have played many many if not almost all the video game RPG's out there. That being said I am impressed with this game so far. I just started playing this week wish I had been around from the start.
Ok for starters I really like the player community foundry idea excellent idea. Bioware implemented something similar in their award winning Neverwinter Nights that I played and modded in for years. I think your company needs to provide in depth tutorials and guides to scripting and modding using your foundry to the community from game designers that work with the game.
One thing I have noticed while a lot of the lore and base character concepts are true to the original pen and paper D&D from there on its way different. I feel like you need to provide a more true to form for character progression and advancement powers spells weapons armor etc etc that is more true to form following more closely to the design of the games namesake. This will provide more build diversity and customization.
D&D is about a never ending story a constantly changing and developing world even with the pen and paper game. The quests are nice and well thought out the story line is great. But once a character reaches epic levels and becomes paragons of their class and race the quest line is completed then you need more than pvp and group raids etc to keep a player In the game. You want to make money right? Of course that is the whole point. While providing a unique player experience. That is key. How do you do this?
one idea is you create a Dungeon master class. This class would be offered to veteran players of the game that would submit a application for the class. Players who want to qualify must have at least 2 characters at max level. That way the devs know they have put in the game time to know the game well. The must be part of a guild. They also must pay for the privilege and the class a decent price say 50 usd or more or it could be like VIP where you have to pay a monthly fee. This way only those serious about it would be consider playing a DM.
Another is to add more diversity that is supposed to be there in a D&D world. Why do I have to play the hero? Why not have Evil and Neutral Gods and Character alignments true to D&D? You could have players who wanted to be evil start out in a whole other city like Menzoberranzan for Drows and Duregar ( where are the Duregar???) Or Necromancer mages in Thay or Shadovar in a floating city. The quest lines for those areas could eventually lead to alternate quest lines in the main city of Neverwinter where those factions for players are working on taking power from a weakened metropolis.
Another thing If adding opposing alignments which really needs to happen because come on who ever heard of a lawful good tiefling...can happen but not often in the D&D universe. But if adding opposing alignments and even if not to foster Role play along with the action play make it where if we are in a tavern or the moonstone mask or even out in the city that players have the option to request a one on one or party to party pvp right then right there just like it would be if you were playing a true D&D game.
To foster group Role play and adventuring instead of having people spamming the LFG filling up the chat boxes have it known that if you want to group up and meet new players make friends that one should visit the taverns and inns. Something besides having the chat boxes filled with LFG spam. IDK but that is real annoying IMO.
The DM class would have the ability to become invincible at will spawn monsters and npcs posses npcs and monsters and beable to award special tokens/currency that would allow players to cash in for certain quest rewards for participating in a DM ran event. Only a limited amount of these classes would be made available per server. For a further concept idea check out Biowares Neverwinter nights DM client. This would keep the company from having to hire and pay people to be DM's. They could even be able to spawn and posses Gods and Demon/Devil Lords can you imagine that IG?
The Idea if you truly want to make a D&D game great is to not only build and foster ARPG content which this games ARPG content is awesome and well thought out. But also to foster and provide Actual Role playing content. This is a MMO the world is supposed to be dynamic and changing not the same old run and gun do the same dungeons and quests over and over. If you want to continue to run and develop a game based on D&D then you have to be willing to make it more like the D&D world which is ever changing ever growing full of choices and open ended decisions that matter. You do not even have alignments if I wanted to play a Chaotic good or evil lawful or neutral I cant. What if I want to be a evil paladin? Or a devotee to a Neutral God? You guys are doing a great job but with the talent I see in game development at your company this game could be so much better.
You can have beatiful game and perfectly balanced. It wont matter when servers are lagging and players are getting constant DC's. (This inclues very annoying and balance breaking DC's in PvP)
2. Bugs
There's a lot of bugs which make very expensive items worthless or broken balance wise. It also affect various classes which can make them useless or OP. (For example, TR SoD is not fixed since mod6 started)
3. Lack of fun. Most of the recent changes (+50% HP to mobs and huge XP increase) were really not needed and on top of that it affect mostly new and casual players. Doing daily quest on new characters is a chore. You pretty much made huge wall between old and new players. These kind of changes should be aimed at old players and help new players catch up instead of placing them even more behind. If these things dont change, you will start losing casual players and discourage new ones, cause not many is insane enough to play 24/7 for 1 year just to get few power points and low lvl enchants.
Ok. This is exactly what the devs need. They need to know that the server lags are killing 70+ characters. I think when the Strongholds came into being, that the exp lev for mobs went up and the player exp levels were cut. There should not be a 70 lev mob in a level 37 player base. I have heard of balancing PVP and PVE, but it is not realistic. Companions should not have to have a "Gold standard" just to level up. I was unable to get on when this program started, but when I did join the program it was "FTP". COMPLETELY!!! Now this game is resembling most PTP games, and I don't know what happened. One of my characters has over 200 different lockboxes. At the rate you have the keys By my figuring it would cost almost 200.00 to open the stupid things for the chance to get one bar and the rest is junk. Drop the cost of the keys and make them available for the cash that you can get in the game. The server issue is major. Almost any day I try to get on I have to wait sometimes as much as an hour because someone is DDosing you. That along with the DCing problem and you have an almost unplayable game. Not to mention the server destruction of OWLBEAR. I had good characters there with items that were bought in game ,,,expensive stuff. Oh I heard that you thought that the server was loaded with stuff Bought off server so you killed it. That thinking doesn't help. and lastly the problem with moderators. If your mods cannot speak English (on US servers) they do not need to be there. Also the mods from PWI have NO idea what is happening in Neverwinter. Please get people that are familiar with the game. I have been a mod before and trying to handle 2 games is beyond the capabilities of Einstein. I am a computer specialist and I have worked on IBM, CRAY, and almost any other system you want to think of, and if the servers are not cleaned the hesitation happens. Please, your product started out good, and you have let minor stuff turn in to MAJOR HAMSTER! I think that all of you need to go back to school for computer basics, because I think you have forgotten GIGO!
...

1. You joined July 2015? Perhaps it's been FTP for levels 1-60, and now that you've got characters 60+, those are basically PTP? Welcome to Neverwinter. Been that way for YEARS.
2. $1 per key? Yep -- ALSO been that way since release.
3. Owlbear server? Umm ... you know Owlbear server was (is?) a developer "Alpha" PREVIEW server, right? -- Neverwinter has only ONE server (shard).
4. Being a "computer specialsit" you know that lag doesn't necessarily occur AT the server itself, but most often somewhere along the network-hops taken to get the server -- so, I assume you have traceroutes that explicitly show the lag occurring AT Cryptics server domain??
5.
Ok I am a new player to this game this game in particular. So far I am only level 27 and have over 60 new life boxes How in the heck am I ever supposed to afford the keys to open them? Paying for keys for a item that drops almost from the begining of the game to open is insane. There are a lot of things I will pay my hard earned money for IG but this is not one of them. Either get rid of the concept of make keys affordable or lootable for this item. Also I have noticed a lot of lag in the orc raid qued quest.
Ok i play a warlock which is a infernal class yet there are only good and neutral Gods and Goddesses to choose from no devil lords or evil Gods this is D&D where are the alignments? Also my alt is a fighter yet from level one you are forced to fight with a sword. Noticed at higher levels there are a few axes but a fighter is supposed to be able to use anything. Swords maces axes spears throwing axes daggers where are the ambidextrous feats for fighters? Very little cosmetic customization I have to have another item to change appearance but not many items in the game have different appearances. Where are the war hammers? no morning stars?? Need more weapon diversity for classes.

ROFLMAO. First F2P game??
Welcome to Neverwinner. Gouging players with repeated false-advertisment, too many MACRO-transactions and even more worthless micro-transactions since release. It's not going to change.

The dm idea is great but not as a playable class .... but as a way to allow true dms to run their foundry questilines in realtime rather than creating them as a static and boring and worst of all unrewarding to the player.... it should require at least one 4 instalment foundry campaign, with a minimal 3 star average rating... and it should grant dm ran questlines to grant rewards of high caliber such as 5k Rough ad per installment and 50k rad for completion of any 4 part or longer questiline. (each installment being a minimum of 15 min start to finish with a 3 instalment per day limit to reduce exploitation. it should allow for zen tips that are applied directly to the dm's monthly DM subscription... much better than onetime fee for dm's .

Not sure if this is the correct area for my problem, but here goes. I installed the game, installed arc client, but my arc client install is stuck in a never ending repair loop. it's extremely frustrating, Just wanted to try this game, I'm a big d&d fan

more like designed to keep ppl that arent day one heavy grind/exploit types or big spenders in zen from having a chance at all... note still no IL brackets ... its 1k pug vs 4k premade all too often

5.

ROFLMAO. First F2P game??
Welcome to Neverwinner. Gouging players with repeated false-advertisment, too many MACRO-transactions and even more worthless micro-transactions since release. It's not going to change.

this is stupid ... makes them useless for anything but refinement dumps for the pvp character
was this intentional or an oversight that it should have bta on pickup but came out btc
I installed the game, installed arc client, but my arc client install is stuck in a never ending repair loop.
it's extremely frustrating, Just wanted to try this game, I'm a big d&d fan
