  • I imagine the price changes do make sense economically. Silver players, with only a couple of character slots, can now buy a new slot with just some Q-farming. Whilst Q-farming itself doesn't bring the game any money, more people playing it for longer likely does and, as people have pointed out numerous times, for many…
  • Just a suggestion for the folks who've topped the 100 slots (I myself have only just hit page 4 of characters, so I'm a long way off): maybe if you can free-up or re-name a character slot to something very generic (e.g. something like 'NPC' if you need the slot to role-play NPCs) and give them one of the more 'generic'…
  • Well, assuming it's correct that, as a subscriber, I can create FF characters on purchased 100 Zen slots after this patch, then I think it's a pretty good compromise for taking away the extra slot at 40 feature. Up until now when I got a new character idea I wanted to try I'd go off and power-level one of my other toons to…
  • Like someone upthread, I'd also like to know what I, as a subscriber, get if I but a new 'slot'? Will it be like my other slots (Freeform or AT whilst I'm still subscribed, but has to be AT to play if my subscription lapses) or will it be a new kind of AT-only slot, forcing me to pay the higher price for a FF slot if I…
  • The BBC report from E3 today was saying about how 'Battle Royale' PvP games are all the rage at the moment. This peaked my interest a bit, 'cos I just happened to have dipped my toe into Champions Online's PvP again yesterday... it wasn't brilliant. Now, I was playing my level 40 Marksman AT, who does pretty well solo and…
  • Well, I tried my Mind AT again, focusing specialisations on holds, and it worked really well (as in 'easily soloing lairs with junk gear' well)! I re-tooled my TK FF with Telekinetic Barrage + Dazzle and TK Maelstrom + Expansive Intellect, with Manipulator, and Presence as the Primary SS, again with specialisations focused…
  • I'll just add to this that I found out the hard way that you can't get a stabilization belt from the box if your toon already has one anywhere. I entered this alert with a toon who had an old stabilization belt from the Mechanon space station mission stashed in the bank, not even in inventory, and couldn't pick up a new…
  • Renaming / deleting a Nemesis can't be done atm, but you can just work through their mission thread and retire them in favour of a new Nemesis. With daily chair-farming it doesn't even take too long... I just think it's less common for people to bother these days with all the other content available. Actually working the…
  • From what I've observed (which is minuscule as a sample size, I admit) if you found the alert easy before, it's easier now. If you found the alert impossible before, it still is. If you just about struggled through before, it'll be a welcome change.
  • The amount of health you have can, of course, have a big impact on your average DPS - depending on the content you're doing, as others have said. At the end of the day time spent faceplanted puts a big dent in your average DPS, as does time spent turtled behind a Block (unless your DPS is all from pets or DoTs or similar…
  • That's all very helpful, thanks guys! It looks like Ego Sleep is still the basic way to go then. My old Mind AT has a Psionic Accelerator which turned her from the slowest-leveling toon I had at the time to one of the fastest when I lucked into it from one of those old Drifter boxes - I'll have to get round to actually…
  • I've been loving Mind Control. As deadman20 says, it's a great opener, especially if you get PUGed without a Tank. It's also great at saving your hide if you pull aggro and are getting pounded on. I love using it on those enemies which are a pain-in-the-bottom for you the rest of the time - like Viper Brickbusters. The big…
  • I've managed to get the alert to pop a few times since the last patch. My mid-twenties in level fire FF still has all the same issues as before - if the patch was a 'nerf' it wasn't such that it significantly changed the alert for squishies... although toons better suited to the alert's design did seem to be having an…
  • I'd love to see some actual divergence between the three Nemesis 'styles', rather than just the occasional text change - i.e. different mission threads or, at least, different 'key' missions. That'd prompt some reason to actually play through the missions and get additional Nemeses.
  • My impressions after the first week, and trying it out on various alts... Overall I like the new alert - it's Nemesis-based, which was always my favourite alert type, just 'cos I like seeing what Nems other people come up with. For this reason I'd like to see the alert with a cutscene so that we can actually get a look at…
  • When these things were cheap I often used to slap them on a newly created character just so that I could be lazy and sell everything I picked up without having to check the stats until that character hit 40 and needed 'real' gear. Now they're far too expensive to do that (since they bind to character, so you just toss them…
  • How is it doing? It seems to be doing well, although as with any new content it's had some teething problems with bugs and the like. I've seen a lot of players in there (less at the moment, with the Bloodmoon event drawing people's attention). Is it hard? Is it easy? In basic terms it's hard - the mobs are level 45, and…
  • Just my personal observations this year, but I've seen plenty of lowby (as low as level 10) characters participating, getting rewards, and joining teams to enter crypts (and sidekicking, and contributing, and sending messages which read like they had fun once we'd freed the hero's spirit). A lowby trying to solo the…
  • LOL - loving the 'He-Man' cat!
  • The issue is that, for example, my level 40 with the Night Avenger passive at rank 3 enters the VIPER lair on Monster Island and turns on Sneak. The toon goes into 'stealth mode', walks down the corridor... and the first VIPER goons spot it and blast it as if stealth wasn't an issue. Now the numbers on the toon in question…
  • Not really - 'magic' is a specific damage type, then there's powers listed as 'Arcane Sorcery' or 'Infernal Sorcery' and the like, which have 'Sorcery' in the name, but don't necessarily do 'magic'-type damage... then there's the recent rejigging of the various magical powers into one group - are they all 'Sorcery…
  • Hmmm... okay... I'd not even considered it was just that... it seems a really non-useful way to word it then, instead of just saying 'magic damage'...
  • Here's a link to the wikipedia article on 'Qliphoth' if that helps any: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qliphoth ... although I'm guessing that the designers just Googled for alternate words for 'Hell' and picked one out of a hat... ;)
  • Duratok takes a little bit more of a kicking to be taken down, but won't 'tank' for you 'cos he can't really keep agro... you can send him into a mob before you attack, but you'll still pull agro from him almost straight away. On the other hand he actually says amusing stuff (with voice acting and everything!) so you…
  • I'd second the Soldier as one of the 'best' - you get Assault Rifle really early and can stick Accelerated Metabolism on it so you can pretty constantly stay at a nice (relatively) safe range 100 when fighting. At the top end you get both the Chaingun (for brilliant DPS) and the Sniper Rifle (for soloing the Q Zone and…
  • It'd be nice if they all had different bonus stuff - maybe something like the skull flight having a chance to Fear people near you, the bat flight having a chance to inflict bleed, etc? Some sort of Dodge / Avoidance bonus would make sense for the ones when you turn into a swarm of whatever too.
  • I'm not really sure why some people are seeing the Undead Heroes and the crypts taking 10+ minutes or 'hours' - that's not my personal experience this Bloodmoon. The time for taking down the Undead Heroes is mostly the time it takes for people to turn up - once a level 40 or two is there (and there are plenty of 'em…
  • Gotta' catch 'em all! ;)
  • I never liked Bloodmoon much in the past: it always seemed geared towards the better FF builds who could solo the content (I had a few myself, but never liked the grind). 'Normal' toons were left begging to tag along. I started off not liking it much this year either... but then realised that there's much more player…
  • Priority targets depend somewhat on play style too - my Solider AT solos the QMZ as a flying sniper, so my priorities are to take out the enemy flyers first (the guys who can reach me), then I can take my time picking off the rest of the mob. With worms that's Followers (again), with destroids it's Leader Drones (although…
  • Well, I've been back in the QWZ and my Soldier AT got through all the (2) player missions solo with a jetpack and a Sniper Rifle. The Annihilator Bots are still bugged, but not all of them, so that's a grind - but it doesn't appear to be one of the daily missions (unless they randomize each day or something...) so…
  • Ah, okay - thanks for confirming that (although it'd be nice if there was a server status indicator somewhere...). Off to bed and check again tomorrow then I guess!
  • [img][/img] Blue Thunderski fails gun safety forever... [img][/img] Go ahead, Defender, ask me if I have a moment... One. More. Time... [img][/img] Viva la revolution! [img][/img] Gotta think of another funny gun-related post... hmmm... [img][/img] Yeah, babe, I'm just this casual...
  • I'm not usually an advocate of in-game vehicles (not having had much experience with them besides the free UNTIL shuttle), but how about a ride-on robotic bug as a vehicle? Robotic so that it makes sense to mount frickin' lasers on it (and may help dodge copyright issues with ant-riding...). Plus, we already know vehicles…

  • LOL - sorry, thread necro's partially due to me not being authorised to add new threads (I may have been around since forever, but I've not posted before)... that and I tend to leave off playing for a few months at a time every now and then, and just got back into levelling my automaton alt, and this thread seemed a…
  • My automation is at level 32 at the moment, and I'm finding that (with a little trial and error) I just needed to re-evaluate some of my tactics a bit... Power Gauntlet + Downrange Disaster works really well with Rocket Fist + the knockback advantage: at max range you can fire off a charged RF and still get in a tap or two…
