I've just dipped a proverbial toe into the new zone myself, so I've not got many tips, but hopefully some of the good players out there will have more...
I've tried the zone with a Soldier, Inferno and Behemoth archetypes, and a Stealth-based Freeform (all with rubbish gear):
Inferno suffered insta-death (the archetype's usual 'kill them before they attack you' tactics just don't work against the high-level and power mobs).
Behemoth did okay against the basic mobs, but couldn't manage against the Nightmare Destroyers with their Unstable Brute escorts and the like. A Tank with a reliable self-heal, on the other hand, I'd guess would be fine.
Soldier did very well using a Sniper Rifle and a Jetpack - just hover above the enemy at max range and snipe them. Nightmare Destroyers can match your range, so you need to be able to take at least one hit, but you can just back off a bit, heal naturally, rinse and repeat. The lesser powered guys in some mobs (like the Worms) can fly, so you may want to take them out first.
Best universal tactic so far is to take a vehicle and use the same tactics as the Soldier - I soloed the basic stuff with a no-frills UNTIL shuttle.
Of course, the missions are all rated as 2-player, so teaming up is the real expected tactic.
The Multifaria base is a bit trickier as it has air defenses (AA launchers - which are easy enough to take out - but also a mean, mean, patrolling helicopter). The Annihilator Bots are also bugged so they don't register as kills on the mission where you need to kill them (at least they didn't for me, and I saw plenty of comments in Zone chat to confirm it was happening to others too) - so that's the point I gave up for the night.
All in all it's better than I'd expected - and the basic stuff can be soloed with some tactical thought too.
So... any tips from the players who are actually good at this game?

The Multifarian Reinforcements mission is the other drag: you need to collect three (single use) 'codes' from Portal Engineers and then shutdown the three portals. Actually doing so isn't a big issue (for my flying sniper I just needed to land on the roof of the nearby building with the AA launchers, take them out, then sniper the squad guarding the portal to clear my way to interacting with the object to shut the thing down). The issue is that the 'codes' are a random drop from the Portal Engineers. Remember the pain of having to grind through wave after wave of PSI mobs trying to find the elusive Mind Control Devices? Yep - it's that pain all over again. Now, it only took me fifteen kills of Portal Engineers to get the three codes I needed, but to put that in perspective there's only (I believe) four of the guys spawned on the map at any one time. So yes, I had to massacre the whole of the Terminus base engineering crew four times over to complete the mission... and this one is one of the dailies...
As to the brief tips by others above, they're all good stuff (as always), but 'making friends' (i.e. teaming) is the only solid one for a lowly AT in the QWZ... and not brilliant if you want to solo it. The trouble with blocking and herding and the like is that, whilst excellent tactics in and of themselves, they don't cut it with the raw damage the denizens of the zone are dishing out: even the basic mobs do significant damage through a R3 block enhancer, so you're just delaying the inevitable. If you're keeping your distance you may be able to block and retreat to safety... but you're not getting any time to put the hurt on the bad guy mobs, especially if you're using something like the Inferno where all your hardest hitting attacks are range 50 (and you'll need to be fighting at range 100 if you want a chance for that block and retreat to keep you alive).
I imagine the solution is to gear heavily towards Con, to allow you at least a small window where you can inflict some hurt before backing away; of course to get better gear you need the Champions Recognition... which is why you're in the QWZ in the first place, so it's a little catch 22...
I've not tried the open missions yet, but occasionally you'll get strings of messages on zone chat degenerating into whose fault it is for the thing not working (and very occasionally messages of celebration at victory), so I guess they're pulling in the punters well enough!
