Firstly reset your router then load up the launcher.
EDIT: Found a solution it seems.. In launcher went to options, chose force verify. restarted launcher and entered account details. After verification, was able to select Play and got in game.

Hope it works for you folks, have a good one.
Worked for me, launcher launched and patcher is patching
Seems to do this to me all the time, majorly during uk downtime [5:30pm - 11:30pm GMT] Fingers crossed Cryptic will have all these ****** errors fixed in due time, no point in buying a game if i can't play it
Server must be overloaded. I am getting the same problem. From time to time I get the "a valid ticket..." error, sometimes the patch timeout error. Oh, and I cannot press on "option".
I was playing fine until 12:00 last night, now I am encountering this message after a lengthy wait seeing a "trying to update the launcher" window...Cryptic, you changed something.... you need to get your house in order and test this stuff before trying to implement failed programming....
I was having this problem in the morning. I just added tha programs "Champions on line.exe", "GameClient.exe" and "Steam.exe" to the exceptions in the windows Firewall options and it worked for me. Maybe it was just coincidence, but if you are using Vista you can try it.
Yup, same here. I was playing fine last night til like 3am EST. Logged out...
Now try to play this afternoon and i get the box that says I'm trying to upload the launcher (which times out if I don't close it) and then after that, it will open the account and password screen, then start the patcher screen and hang and not upload the patch and time out. Try it again, back to a little 'updating the launcher' box, rinse repeat.
With this many posts already today, I'm thinking they borked something up in the morning patch and are working to resolve it ASAP (I hope). Hope to see a hot fix for this in the next couple hours.
I'm getting it as well. Was goofing around with a new character, told me it lost connection to the creation server, and now it's giving me the failure.

This worked for me, except that i did not add steam.exe, as i have the D2D Version..
/Edit: Well, it let the Launcher start, but now i cannot connect to the login server. Dammit!
Yep, having same issue here, would have that little gray box pop up trying to update launcher, go through that several times, each time saying idle for too long, then finally get to the patcher and all it says is connecting. Was in game prior to this but was bumped off, was in a fairly empty instance of the Canadian Wilderness, about 12 people, so don't know.
In my case the launcher does not even show. The process is listed in task manager tho and eventually I get the dialog saying "idle too long" and the process dies.
PatchClientLib: still connecting to 208.95.184.131:7255
I finally got past the "Trying to patch the loader" or whatever, typed my password, and a 2nd window popped up w/CLI interface and just spams that over and over. Lucky me, to have something new and maybe helpful to post.
got some new Errormsg on trying Patch the Game "Error 4: Tried View is invalid" translated from german
Cryptic may also get some trouble with the IPs, because the game produces much more traffic on the transatlantic route than expected - just remember the times WoW in Germany had troubles :P
I'm having this problem right now. I was booted off the game and then tried to log back in only to not be able to join. I then decided to try and restart the game and now when I do it says that it is trying to update the launcher and then after sitting there for a few minutes it says something to the effect of, "connection was idle too long." Any idea as to what might be going on?
((I've also noticed the CO site has become really slow and buggy too.)

Edit: Or not. Worked for one time. Now I get the little box only so can't even get to options to do a force verify.
Please fix. Or let us know when fix will occur.

Plus the website is horrislow maybe releated ?
Same issue here. I even got to login once, only to see a message that patch server is unavailable.

And now the update launcher just sits there. ...sucks

Connecting from Toronto with Bell Sympatico.
Game has full permissions on ZA Firewall, everything else checks out.
Hopefully they can resolve this issue soon~!
