    Yep me too, fine last night....

    "Trying To Update Launcher"

    If people are playing in game right now then the servers cannot be down, i find this a deplorable situation when Cryptic cant even find the time to give some sort of response, even if it was just "we know about this problem and we are working to fix it"...

    CRYPTIC PLEASE ANSWER THE PEOPLE WHO PAY YOUR WAGES THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!!

    Yeah, sux not bein' able to connect right now, but I think it might be a little premature to go cancelling and askin' for refunds. It's the game's first week live, so you gotta expect a FEW speedbumps along the way.

    Alright seriously. Games been out for 1 day the hell do you expect? Some MMOs have had worse launch problems and this one hasn't even been going on that long yet to be throwing a complete fit over. No ones giving you your money back and no ones taking note of your flames. Wait the problem out and call customer support if your problem persists more than a couple days. All you can do here is let them know the problem is there so they take notice.

    i just got it to. i got the game yesterday. played fine. this morning to. now i get that launcher update msg all the time o.O

    TimerEffex: there is just the one server so I doubt anyone can get in.
    Im guessing something has sh*t itself at Cryptics end but they usually get these things fixed quick.

    Having the same issue as about 75% of the customer base according to the multiple forum posts on this issue. My guess is there will be more when people start getting awake and off work in US. Before this evenings update I was running good, now little box wont connect and then the timeout. I would really enjoy it if someone has found a dev reply on this issue?

    For those having this problem did you purchase the retail version and entered yoru codes yet? Just covering all bases.

    Four hours to download from Gamestop, four hours for my first patch. Hope I don't have to wait all day again today to even ATTEMPT to play.

    You would think the support team would be on shifts watching for errors like this, it looks like it's been weeks of this problem and we still haven't even had a response on the issue? Even if a game is good it can become really bad when customer support is bad, my first impression of this is not a good one.

    totally agreed quit QQin and wait for them to get to it... hell atleast its not like Warhammer launch where u cant stay in server for more then 5 mins

    Same Problem here as of today, ran the client on it's own w/out the launcher and it also times out connecting to the account server.

    Same, looks like the account server is down as I can't get it running the GameClient.exe manually either. (the icon loads the launcher)

    I have the same problem :(. I tried to start the GameClient.exe directly but there it just stops at "Connecting to the account server"...

    I have the same error as everyone else. A few hours ago the game worked fine, now I only get the "Trying to update the launcher." message. Darn!

    Found that even after bypassing the launcher, you can't connect to your character anyway.

    Obviously this thread is growing fast... and obviously cryptic has HAD TO OF seen it by now... question is... does the devs/Bill roper actualy care about the instability?

    bought the game retail yesteday worked fine all day and now poof trying to update the launcher please be patient....scares me big time to see how many ppl are actually having this issue

    Bought the game yesterday, worked for 2 hours, and now this morning I get this. Awesome. Great way to get me to want to continue playing.

    I Dled it the day it came out as I live in Denmark, it cost me bloody 66 dollars.. I dled it late so i went to sleep, looking forward to play the next day, i wake up with it having problems.. spent 3 hours to fix that, plays a bit and now next day I get a new problem -_- I did not pay that much money to work out problems on a daily basis.. very frustrating! fix it Cryptic!

    Maybe cryptic has a third patchserver we can use as temporary solution editing our hosts file
    i found 2 patch servers but both create the same problem

    i edited

    c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

    and inserted these lines

    208.95.184.24 patchserver.crypticstudios.com
    208.95.184.25 patchserver.crypticstudios.com

    Today is the second time I have had this issue. Not sure what/why might be causing it, I thought the first time (on the first) it might have been servers being updated or something... I took like an hour away from my PC and came back to it working fine.

    This time I know a friend is in game, he logged out and back in... so it is not a server issue, but a connection issue.

    Just because I had a weird connection problem with another website (Wizards of the Coast) a few weeks ago, and it turned out to be on the end of my internet provider (but only with that one website)... how many of us are in America using Comcast to connect? It'd be an awfully big coincidence if we all (or most) are!

    I was playing earlier today, went to dinner, came back and got the Updatign Launcher problem. After a while it just errors our with 'Connection idle too long' error. Don't make me regret a lifetime subscription....
