Just like the program it's descended from, HeroCreator is a Javascript-based character planner for Champions Online. Anyone familiar with the PowerHouse (which I imagine is just about most of you) should feel right at home.
HeroCreatorSource via GitHubHeroCreator ChangelogPLEASE let me know if anything is broken or inaccurate. This thread is an excellent place to do so.
List of known issues/todo list:
- Many powers still have the older, less-informative tooltips
- Add a "role selector" (hopefully without breaking everything else!)
Special thanks of course goes out to Nullware for creating the PowerHouse.
Edit: Mother of god, Form Extension what have you done!?
(Hopefully) Useful CO Resources: HeroCreator (character planner), Cosmic Timers/Alert Checklist, Blood Moon Map, Anniversary Cat Map, and more (eventually, anyway).
Comments
If you take a build made in the powerhouse, such as this (I just clicked random things, this is an awful build that no one should play!)
http://powerhouse.nullware.com/powerhouse.html?v=13&n=&d=11237DBCFGH70G0N000N203J105N400N103J400K707J504IH03I309I200I603QE01Q4030i5r11F011F1
And copy the part highlighted in red, you can paste it to the end of the base herocreator URL:
http://aesica.net/co/herocreator.htm?v=13&n=&d=11237DBCFGH70G0N000N203J105N400N103J400K707J504IH03I309I200I603QE01Q4030i5r11F011F1
For...mixed results. Anything in the Sorcery, Bestial, or Infernal frameworks will probably either shift to another framework or vanish entirely because of the sorcery set squish. Other powers may just shuffle around, advantages might poof, etc.
Here you can compare the two:
Original build via PowerHouse
Partially-successful HeroCreator import
As you can see, most of the powers vanished or changed, several advantages got dropped and the specializations poofed. It's still partially salvageable.
Preferences don't seem to save. Pretty sure they used to once upon a time. My guess is something with cookies.
Edit: Also, doesn't the spoiler tag work? Putting the changelog in a spoiler would look better than the code block, which has h-scrolling.

My Characters
And yeah, I guess the code block is styled kind of uglyish.
Edit: That said, I think I'm taking a few days off. I want to play the game too.
-The Automaton is missing.
-Arguably, The Scourge and The Cursed should share a dropdown since the latter is just a recolor of the former.
-Sterga
As for the Automaton...LOL I think I know what happened.
Anyway, I added a todo/known issues list to the main post to better keep track of feedbacks. Keep 'em coming!

- I have issues seeing the light blue text on white backdrops, like when using the Preview post format here on the boards.
- The greyed-out text color should prob be a bit brighter than it is. Imo, there's a bit too much contrast between it and the highlight tints, and its dark grey text is close to the black and dark grey backdrop tints (most notable when selecting talents and spec points).
- I had trouble highlighting only parts of the Export tab text - say if I wanted to only cut and paste part of a build.
- I like how the Export tab was more horizontal in the PH, to need less vertical scrolling.. but this is a minor preference.
- Bright blue in general works well for contrast and hyperlinks, but in bulk it seems a bit more irritating on the eyes. I'm not sure what colors would be best here for long-term usability, though.
Hope that helped some.

As for the talent stats' highlighted/grayed contrast, I wanted to make talent selection less of a pain by making it easier to see which talents had a user's chosen superstats. Maaaaaybe I went over the top a bit. I'll lessen the contrast a bit
With highlighting, I guess it never occurred to me that people may want to paste only certain parts, such as just the powers. I'll change the select-all behavior to be activated by a button rather than clicking the textarea in the next build, allowing people to either select part of it manually like before, or 1-click to select all. I might make it wider again as well--I wanted it to be roughly as wide s the other boxes, but CSS just loves to screw with me and it already fails. Woo, thanks!
In light of introducing more options- since the hues are a bit of a sticking point, maybe try to introduce the option to colorize text in different preset ways (including de-coloring)? Only if it wouldn't be too hard to work in, though.
Keep up the good work.

My main goal is to make the text usable on as many forums, sites, whatevers, etc as possible, so color themes aren't a huge priority since as I said, what looks great on one theme can be nearly unreadable on another. Maybe I'll add export themes sometime in the far future, but for now, I want to make other tweaks first.
Testing the "colorless" theme:

PS: I might have added another enhancement to the information to see how it works out. Let's see who can spot it.
- Be safe and have fun, champs - for science!
Very nice work, though, and much appreciated! I can finally get writeups together for my heavy weapons based builds!
I'll figure you'll get to it when you have the time. I'm happy you did this at all!!!
1. Is there a way to list character stats and enter their point values. E.g. the way they appear in our Champion Information.
2. Is there a possibility of having 5 fields with drop down menus to list permanent devices?
These may not be at all feasible, but they sure would be handy
-The Devastator is using the old power progression prior to March 2016, when the Rockstar AT was added.
-The Void is using the old power progression prior to the Darkness revision added with the First Nightmare Invasion event.
-The Specialist is using the old power progression prior its revision back on February of this year.
-The Savage is using the old power progression prior its revision back on May, when the Predator AT was added.
Well so far those are the only issues I've found so far. Will post more if I find more things that need to be corrected.

That said, long term I think lots of people would like to see HC becoming a character planner rather than a character
explainer (which I think it is at the moment). How much easier it would be to use something like that to pre-plan spec and stat changes, rather than having to spend eternity in the Powerhouse....
Edit: Oops, imgur is being crap again.
Edit2: That said, hopefully it's a tooltip error on CO's end and not a tier level error. Soul Beam isn't so amazing that it should be 5/6, so 3/4 seems about right. Stat/gear/etc management make things a lot trickier, and I suspect that's why the original PowerHouse never actually implemented them.
When selecting Talents in a Freeform template, your superstats are highlighted so you can easily see which talents affect them. However, when you are selecting Talents in an AT template, there is no highlighting. Can you make it so that AT's superstats are highlighted?
Get the Forums Enhancement Extension!
1) Select your AT
2) Change setting to freeform
3) Change one of the superstats to something else, then set it back to what it was originally. (Example: Ego -> Pre -> Ego)
4) Change back to your AT and they should all be highlighted.
Note: If you change to a different AT with different superstats, the previous AT's will still be highlighted until you go through the steps outlined above again.
When working with an Archtype, the pop-up tooltip does not change on the powers that have multiple options and you select the alternative power. It shows the tooltip for the original power selection. This does not appear to be an issue with Freeform.

Also I have a couple of Suggestions for you regarding unlockable Premium ATs during certain events, adding a clarification line to the AT's description like you have added to the Cursed which is unlockable in October during the Bloodmoon Event.
1. The Icicle can be unlocked for free during the Winter Event on December.
2. The Devastator can be unlocked for free during the rotative Circus Malvanum Event.
3. The Void can be unlocked for free during the rotative Nightmare Invasion Event.
4. The Night Avenger can be unlocked for free during the Nighthawk Event on November.
Rebirth Icon: I'll update this eventually, but it's an extremely small priority and will probably stay as is until I next go to add additional icons.
Archetype power swap tooltip bug: It's a really old bug that I just kinda...put out of my mind when I encountered it in the powerhouse way back. Thanks for the reminder, and I suspect the fix will be as simple as the AT stat highlighting was. I hope.
Premium ATs for free in events: I started to do this (it's already shown for The Void) but hadn't gotten around to finding a comprehensive list of what the other ones were or where they came from. Until now. Thanks.

I'm currently working on a project unrelated to CO, so I probably won't be changing/fixing any of these things until the next set of powers (infernal changes, Witch AT, etc) gets patched onto live. Just to explain any delays.
- intelligence tree's "revitalize" has a 6 sec cd, not 2 sec.
- munitions' "lead tempest" cannot take "challenge" advantage. however it has a "maybe i'm just better" advantage, which lets it stack furious
- electricity's "electric sheathe", "matter-energy union" advantage does not do what its description says. it actually provides a flat shield similar how force's "field surge" works.
Now, if you want to point out powers whose description doesn't match their current effects, I'd suggest starting by looking over melee combo powers; several of those were updated to AoE, but are still showing as single-target.
No gear equipped - Lvl 40 - 196 max energy : 3571 shield
All gear equipped - Lvl 40 - 871 max energy : 3571 shield
If you manage to get a value besides 3571 shield at level 40 then I'll accept it scales rather than gives a flat value.
testing with 1500 damage laser:
with no shield up - 890 damage from laser to health
with shield up - "890 damage from laser" in combat log - actual 1500 damage to shield + 181 damage to energy + 0 damage to health
testing with 188 damage laser:
with no shield up - 111 damage to from laser to health
with shield up - "111 damage from laser" in combat log - actual 187 damage to shield + 22 damage to energy + 0 damage to health
The relevant portion of the game text says "incoming damage will be subtracted from your energy instead of your health", but we can see clearly this is not true: it subtracts from both the shield and the energy pool. What actually happens in combat is the shield ends up running out quickly due to taking unmitigated damage. Anyway with some powerhouse testing it is clear there is a flat shield which works until (1) the shield is depleted or (2) you run out of energy. At any rate, I only brought it up because the ingame effects do not match the advantage's description (or what is in the build planner). At the very least, a note of the shield should be made because the skill description suggests a direct conversion with no mention of the shield.
EDIT: separate power bug: bestial supernatural's "barbed lariat" has a "slice and dice" adv to refresh bleeds.
-Will-o'-the-Whisp doesn't have the Harbinger advantange which stuns targets for 2 seconds.
EDIT: never mind, i fixed it by clearing out the entire power list and redoing it from scratch
however, while i'm here...Star Barrage's icon is either broken or missing
