I can't even log in. I just let the game patch, when it finished and I tried to log in, I got an odd message. It said, "Unable to start game client: The operation completed successfully." I'm getting the same issue. I found that if I switch to a different character and then go back to that one, the items and slots are back again. The thing is, even with four epic tools, you still only have a 60% chance to make a gemmed, tier three shirt/pants. Using your logic, I should have a 160% chance at it. Which actually was what I thought as well at first.

Generally you should be able to pick up your reward within a matter of minutes. If you were already in game, then try to log out and back in if it's not available.
