Or then again, I could just be sad since a Shadow Wolf is just a perfect mount for my ranger. So perfect I would actually pay the upgrade fee which I never thought I would pay.

What does the rest of the community think?
I hear you. My TR uses a hawk companion, simply because it's perfect for her. I'm obviously going to get a Ranger when it's out, just like I'm getting every other class released before I'm bored. (sidenote: that's the drawback of getting one new class ever few months. By the time we get the next class after the Ranger, I'll be sick of the Ranger already. I'd strongly prefer getting three or four new classes once pr year in a 'real' expansion, rather than one new class every now and then.)

Aaaaanyway, I think the problem with the 'perfect' mount is that it's perfect for everyone. You're not exactly the only one who wants a wolf-mount for your ranger, just like I can't be the only one who prefers my pure, noble cleric riding a unicorn. But just like the somewhat exclusive unicorn- and spider-mount, we have alternate versions on the Zen-store already. So while I really do want a rare wolf-mount for my ranger, I'll rather pay up for the other version in the Zen-store. Or pay with ADs, even. Either way, I'm not too bothered with mounts being avaliable only a short time. There are other mounts I really like too, and I'm not so picky that I require a certain skin for my mounts. So while the wolf-mount you're talking about sounds cool, so does a tiger-mount, or wolf-mount with a different skin.

Not to mention: What about mounts they release after the ranger? They could simply reskin the wolf-mount and release it in a CTF after the ranger is released, or something entirely new. Who wouldn't want to ride around on a lion? Or a different insect? (oh, sure, spiders are arachnids, not insects. But you get the point.) :)

There has only been one previous event that included mounts, which were also BoP (so much for everyone who initially though they'd get rich selling armoured boars from collecting Sunite tokens on as many free accounts as they could stomach).

People complained then too about how they wouldn't be able to save an armoured boar for their ranger.

I don't really like all the BoP event rewards either, because of Murphy's Law of RNG, and how you will invariably get dozens of pantaloons when you were trying to get coins and coins on the character who wants pantaloons but thinks their class weapon skin is ugly (but can't buy one for a different class because... wait for it... it's BoP).

Are players all that bothered by BoE event items that a certain portion of the player base will grind out and then sell for a premium later? I understand wanting to put the brakes on the botters and farmers somehow, but is the price to flexibility in managing the rewards that we get for ourselves worth it?

. . . . . I agree. I only want this mount on my upcoming Ranger. Past CTA Companions have been Bind on Equip and if this Mount is not an Account-Wide Mount, then it too should be Bind on Equip. I'm still very tired of all this Bind on Pickup mentality I am seeing in the marketing of the game.

The thing is, the past CTA companions have been just that...companions. Mounts and companions have always worked differently as they are completely different in character. I personally don't have an opinion as to whether or not they should be BOP vs BOE, but for those looking at this particular issue as, "It was always this way in past events" aren't looking at it properly. This isn't the same at all.

Well I have the Shadow Mount on Two Characters.

It's every bit as awesome as I expected.

Yet the only class I would ever use it on is the Hunter Ranger. Very sad I can't spend the $60 dollars to upgrade this mount instead of keep it stuck in my bank as inventory clutter because I would never use it over my T3 Mounts or pay the price to upgrade it on only a single character. :(

Oh well. My new Corsair Keyboard will show up next week. W00t!

As much as I'd hate to be the skeptic, I may have to be a realist. I don't entirely agree that making it BoE is the right thing to do--it's been made BoP to prevent the farmers from hoarding the Shadow Wolves in their pockets and overwhelming the market at a take-it-or-leave-it crazy-as-heck amount of AD in the auction house.

I can't entirely see eye to eye with it being BoP either. To be honest I've wanted the mount since I first saw it. I want it for my level 30 rogue. The level 60 guy I do have is happy to keep his T3 zen mount. The problem is this mechanic about bound to character items. Not that I mind rolling CTA at level 30, but I can also imagine the frustration of the pick up group. Over me.

It's either give us a quickfix along with the AH farmer's monopoly, or make it BoA and change one too many in game systems. The first solution can be attributed as backwards. The devs may not want it, as with a few other players. The latter solution will take time. Even if it's already in the works, this particular CTA will have elapsed before we see a real solution.

PS: It wouldnt be the worst thing if they made the Shadow Wolf a T3 zen mount and release it sometime later, would it? I'm not skittish to buy it for 35 bucks.

The event is open to all levels 6-60. If people who are pugging the event are getting shirty because their cruel enchant farming (since the other goodies are BoP, this is the only reason to grind it) is being slowed down by lowbies who just want to have a good time... TOO FREAKING BAD. Those kinds of people should get themselves into the LFG chat to look for a level 60 speedrun group and let people who are doing the event for its own sake enjoy themselves.

Find a level 60 cleric to team up with. Not everyone in-game is a jerk.

I've run several of these CTA's w/ absolutely no clerics at all, so it's not only on your shoulders to ensure the survival of the team... Play the way that is fun for you - anyone who complains can just as easily make their own team if they're not happy PUGging it...

ALso if you get the shadow wolf, whenever you do another run and get another shadow wolf you can't get any loot from that chest. GG

Also to upgrade the shadow wolf to %110 speed costs like 2.3 mil if not more, what a ripoff and I even spend like 40-60 a month on this game.
