  • Well you can make a single-player game without grind just fine, for these the profit is in the game purchase. However MMOs have a constant upkeep and cost to the dev. They need to pay for servers and are constantly paying the wages for all the workers to keep the game running, and keep developing it. They don't make that…
  • You try to make an MMO without grind. See how long you keep players when people blaze through the game and run out of things to do.
  • Grind is oldschool? How? All MMOs have grind, they exist because of it. If they didn't, players would run out of things to do and get bored and leave. They have to have grinding to make people keep re-doing stuff to keep them around.
  • Clearly the Temporal energies surrounding the Temporal jumpsuits have a scarf-nullifying effect. Perhaps research has to be put into weaponizing this energy to nullify sashes, causing mass panic amongst the KDF.
  • I don't see how that solves anything. Just because it's impractical for small/medium fleets to build bases does not mean it's impossible. It's just far more time-consuming and impractical. Also, on the topic of clickes, they weren't "fun" no, but they were quick and easy. And didn't require any real effort to do to get…
  • Also probably because all aliens in Star Trek are based on the same DNA practically anyway. It's just easier to make costumes then!
  • Fleets were not meant to be a small/medium thing. Unless you had a huge fleet, they never designed the system to be easy or quick to reach the higher tiers. In fact, even the basic T0 is built around at LEAST 25 people doing it I believe. Ideally a high level Starbase is meant to be built up by 100's of players. It's not…
  • They unbound them this time. Only the "new" ones though, the "old" ones will still get bound.
  • The advantage to lifeing is your support to the game, it's not a "Cryptic has to make the best stuff for the lifers!". Also you save a ton of money in the long run, anyone who bought it when they first came out, is basically having Cryptic lose money now.
  • Well, true considering it's an "actual" ship name. But I don't imagine most people who pick it, are picking it because it came up in the generator...
  • Typically in MMOs, a lot of people when they name things don't actually think of "names", they just think of things they find funny, which tends to be crude or vaguely offensive. Although, I see a lot of Enterprizes and the like. Normandy, as mentioned, used to be pretty common as well.
  • I'm pretty sure you can do normal STFs in a basic ship with all whites. Heck, I barely know what I'm doing in some of them, but I know enough to just blow up what I'm supposed to. Aside from the Hive one, Normal STFs require only a very, very basic plan. And even then it's usually just a "Don't let this blow up" and "Don't…
  • Your thread isn't discussing anything about the game itself, you are instead discussing the company - you are providing FEEDBACK. And frankly, if devs actually listed to all the feedback people posted, you may as well make a game that had one button that gave you everything, because honestly it's what some people want.…
  • Broken content is pretty much par for course for any MMO. You can never test how anything will work when you release to thousands of people at once, if not ten's. And in that grouping are people who will specifically find ways to break and exploit everything you've done.
  • By that logic, you shouldn't actually play any MMO at all. Whatever you do now, will be easier/obsolete in a month/year anyway. Better just wait until they stop changing anything or the game closes, right? MMOs pretty much revolve around grinding, and undergo constant changes because players will always find ways to make…
  • Man thats a giant wall of text that could've been summed up as: That's how MMOs work. There is no obligation by the company to not do changes as they deem fit, and they don't need to hand out free respecs to people just because they change some skills around. Just because the Connie USED to be in a special copy of the game…
  • While this sounds good in your head, it would basically destroy the dil/ZEN economy in a few days. Botters would jump all over it, and considering how gold botting in any MMO is always a problem, there's no way a staff can really do anything about it without a huge staff. It would probably only take a day or two, for…
  • Because the KDF actually believe in all that stuff - which is to say stealing, looting, prisoner taking, etc. It's not really something the Federation does. The Federation just gets a ton more everything else, and it's not like commodities are that expensive. And also, Fleet projects are geared towards 25+ people helping…
  • That's pretty light grinding considering a lot of those are balled into one. And you don't have to do all of those at once really. As far as grinds go, STO is pretty light considering while you have to grind, you are also assured to get something after a number of attempts. Instead of being on your 1000th run of some…
  • They already did kind of nerf the usefulness of Contraband. You used to find it far, far easier and could earn a ton of dil quickly. Both of those DOFF assignments seem significantly less common then they used to be. Also it makes sense KDF finds more Contraband and Prisoners anyway.
  • They're not bad ships, but they're not great either. They have some unique perks, and look kinda neat. They don't feel particularly powerful, but maybe that's just because I feel a broadside-focused ship is just all around more durable and reliable. It's tricky to keep stuff in a 45 degree arc constantly all the time -…
  • I have to admit the unlocking of the items is a bit steep. Not so much in resources, but the sheer time. The resources are high, yes, but I wouldn't mind if it was high cost but didn't take 40 hours. The Reputation system is a 100% way to get stuff, which is really great (I've gotten more progress in 4 missions of STFs,…
  • There really should be more cross-faction, or just an elimination of the actual separate factions. By the time a Feddie finishes like, episode 1 or 2, you already know the entire war is a sham, that only exists for weak gameplay reasons that keep hurting KDF more then anything. But maybe I'm just bitter that on Feddie, I…
  • Credits or Marks will follow with you, you just have to join a new Fleet to use them/get more. From what I hear, people are booting people because (for some reason) they dislike people instant filling projects. I can't imagine why - sure T0 projects are pretty easy, but it isn't like your Starbase is going to be Tier 0…
  • It isn't like STO has a death penalty anyway. :P But yeah Isometric Charge will eat you alive. I'm unsure if there's any real way to counter it.
  • I think so far most of the hybrid weapons have been used to show the more exotic/rare weapon types used in the series that wouldn't deserve a unique type just for them. I doubt we'd see a hybrid Antiproton, but maybe when Iconians show up we'll get some perhaps.
  • Only for Federation, KDF can get the Vo'quv for free at level 40. But bother the Heavy Escort Carrier and the Caitian Carrier for Federation are 2500ZEN.
  • The tokens should show up in the bottom near your money. But anything that the token will buy will not show a ZEN cost or a Dilithium cost.
  • Just use the public PvE queues. You don't have to do them during the Fleet Marks event, that just gets you more bang for your buck. Fleet Alert, Fleet Blockade are better to do then Fleet Defense - Defense just takes far too long for little reward.
  • PWE doesn't do anything with the game's actual mechanics however, they just control the money that allows you to play the game, and Z-Store pricing and item additions. This is likely just a bug Cryptic had on accident, or perhaps the event ended and it queue'd you into something else.
