To the OP: If you're running Mk XII purple gear (presumably anti-Borg gear) and Mk XII purple consoles and you're still finding STFs a real challenge. . .you're doing something wrong.
I suggest taking people up on their offers to help you, because it's clear you need help. Either that, or you're trolling :P
My PvP toon is Krov, of The House of Snoo. Beware of my Hegh'ta of doom.
Not all of us (me included) are gifted with expertise in these borg missions which give omega marks.
Devs,is it remotely possible you could add an easy mode to all borg missions,to give us a fair chance to build up omega marks please?????
Dude, read my siglink content and then this thread:
I'm pretty sure you can do normal STFs in a basic ship with all whites. Heck, I barely know what I'm doing in some of them, but I know enough to just blow up what I'm supposed to.
Aside from the Hive one, Normal STFs require only a very, very basic plan. And even then it's usually just a "Don't let this blow up" and "Don't let Probes reach this.", as long as one person on the team is capable of doing this, you shouldn't have any way to actually fail them.
Elite STFs are another matter entirely. Those are just cruel and evil.
Well, it's great that you've read up on them before diving in, but it comes across like you're being intimidated by something that 'sounds' more difficult than it really is.
Really though, my advice for people who are new to them is to just queue up to the normals, and be upfront with people - tell them you're new and ask if you have any questions. There are many of us who actually like to do random pugs and are more than willing to help people learn the ropes. If you end up in an anti-social group.. watch what people do, the people who know what they're doing generally have a routine down to a rough science.
Alternatively, consider joining a fleet. Plenty of veteran people out there who are more than willing to help others dispel ignorance.
If you can handle RED ALERTs, you really shouldn't have any problems with normal space STFs and their optionals. They may have more.. variables.. but most everything you'll run into is easier to take down than a Unimatrix. With elite, you're just dealing with bigger numbers and a few encounter changes.

You'll be blasting and lolling through EliteSTFs in no time.
