I just don't see how Mr Stahl can make a Business case to his boss - PWE and then in turn their shareholders to invest in a faction that is disappearing.
Enough with catch-22 argument. It's a BS argument.
My PvP toon is Krov, of The House of Snoo. Beware of my Hegh'ta of doom.
Any time someone says or posts "like a slap in the face", I have to wonder if he or she has actually every been slapped in the face. Because I think it's a rather different experience than not having enough content. In a video game.
Plus, it's one of the most overused similes on the Internet. I might have to add a new rule for this.
I also wonder about what Dan was saying in regards to "resolving long-standing issues between the two factions" in Season 8. Parity, hopefully.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
I don't care how long you've been playing. I only care about how you play.
And remember to follow the rules.
There really should be more cross-faction, or just an elimination of the actual separate factions. By the time a Feddie finishes like, episode 1 or 2, you already know the entire war is a sham, that only exists for weak gameplay reasons that keep hurting KDF more then anything.
But maybe I'm just bitter that on Feddie, I can queue for Fleet actions during double time and just roll in Marks, and for KDF I have to sit around and twiddle my thumbs and wait.
Did anyone else catch the hint in that state of the game? I got a bad feeling about this, I think they are going to once again give the Feds what they want. Meaning I think they are going to break lore, come up with some bs reason, and merg the factions. They do that I wont be returning ever again.
What I find most frustrating about this whole merg the factions idea, is it was the devs who decided on this war. They did so for good reason. Its too late to turn back the clock now.
By the way why do I get the feeling this levi character has been doing repeat post on this merg the factions idea?

We have been waiting for over 2.5 years for a playable Romulan faction, anything but a full 'stand alone' Romulan faction, will not be accepted by (most) players.
My biggest fear is a.] They will split the Romulans into 3 factions: a pro Federation,a pro Klingon, and an enemy NPC faction. This way they can offer players the option of 'unlocking' the playable Romulan/Reman captains for Zen in the C-store,'unlocking' Romulan and Reman ships in the C-store for more Zen (probably re-skins of Fed and KDF ships, little work/max profit),and putting Hirogen ships in the Lockboxes.
b.] OMG...would you look at that....Romulan BoP's have Battlecloak! They found a way around the whole 'only KDF has Battlecloak and we can't give it to the Feds...' The moment they thought of that PWE was blinded by the $$$ signs in their eyes.
c.] They will spend even less time on the Romulan faction than they did with the KDF.
A few days ago I got my 1000 day vet ships, took my Fed ship into orbit of ESD just to take a look at the transformation, saw several parts moving and the overall look of the ship changed.Did the same on the KDF side...WTF!One piece at the top,and one piece at the bottom of the ship moved...that's it,it basically still looks the same....WTF!!!!!That's the dev time we get?
I think we are in for a very, very big disappointment with Season 8....
The PWE/Cryptic sweatshop...not where the game is made, but where the game is played!
Take back your home, end the grind!

I'll be right behind you.
I joined this game before launch, along with 40+ other Fleetmates, to play KLINGON...
Has I but known that all the promises made before game launch about a "2 full Factions, full PvE content" was all a bunch of TRIBBLE, I doubt I would have made the effort.
It has taken over 2 years to get a trinkle of KDF mission content and PvP is in such a sorry state it's sickening.
I'll be willing to be "KDF getting some attention" means we'll ge some silly new costume choices or more Zstore fluff, but little if any actual mission content.
Funny how they can introduce an entire new sector with patrols for almost every planet on Tribble, despite them saying making patrols for the systems in KDF space, which has been asked for for a very long time, was impractical and would involove too much dev time.
But hey, we can make an entire new sectoor and do it there...
At least we're getting access to some new things to do in the S7 update, but I'm less than thrilled that it's mostly "grind till you drop" for meadiocre items.
On the other hand, if we get a healthy KDF faction they'll have two to milk!
Agreed. The only reason KDF is unpopular is due to the lack of incentives to play it. Theres a lot of reasons to play it already, but until Cryptic capitalizes upon its strengths, it will always wallow in it's weaknesses.

Some have already figured out the truth - I WORK FOR CRYPTIC!!:D:P(not)
Just trying to get you guys used to the idea of joining the UFP
Just in case you missed it - Klingons joining the UFP does not have to be made up by Cryptic - it is already been established in canon - from a ENT eps where the see a future where the KDF becomes part of the Federation. So they do have a canon argument to back them up!
I case you missec it before I have spent more time playing KDF than the avg Fed player currently has player FED - over 600hrs with my KDF "boots on the Ground" - so it's not like I have no-idea what is going on KDF side.

Except the episode you refer to plays in an alternate future where the Expanse (that was destroyed in the Prime Timeline) is 50,000 light yeas in diameter.
That's why the Sphere builders got involved with the humans in the first place...and it totally backfired.
The future you speak of is no less alternate than the one in "Endgame" for example.
There is a reason why Memory Alpha lists the events in "Azati Prime" that refer to the Enterprise-J part of that episode under "possible future".
"In a possible future, the Battle of Procyon V, fought in the 26th century, was the final confrontation between the United Federation of Planets and the Sphere Builders, wherein the forces of the Federation were able to successfully drive the Builders back into their trans-dimensional realm. "

It's not fact like you claim it is.
I said it was canon. And the reference was to point out there are ways already in place - or - could be made up easily to join the two factions.
If you guys think season 8 is going to really do anything to expand the KDF as a stand-alone faction - I have some snake -oil to sell you that will cure everything!!
It was canon means it will happen, not that it happened under conditions that don't exist any more.
No - canon means anything that is seen in the shows or movies.
Look at Endgame from VOY - different timeline - voyager makes it home - then Janeway goes into the past with ablative armor - meets herself - gives ablative armor - voyager goes home a different time/route - no future janeway - no Ablative armor and no changes - in an endless circle
No - canon means anything that is seen in the shows or movies.
So it's canon that Admiral Riker has refitted the Enterprise-D into a 3-nacelled ship?
No it's not, it's canon that under different conditions would have happened.
What you said is:
"Just in case you missed it - Klingons joining the UFP does not have to be made up by Cryptic - it is already been established in canon"
meaning you said it's a foregone fact based on your statement, which it isn't.

See my edited last post.
But as far a "canon" is concerned - STO through that baby out with the bathwater a long time ago - now its no-holds barred.
So heck Cryptic can and will do whatever they want - and they will do whatever they want with the KDF whether it pisses the players off or not - THAT IS A FACT

Course they could get the shaft again. They shouldn't.
carcharodon1975 You bring some scary predictions for the future, I would like to say your wrong, but I can not. I could see them completely destroying the Romulans and Remans in the exact fashion you describe.
Levi Enterprise really? Seriously? The series broke cannon so many different ways it wasn't even funny. Its hardly a good series to use to support an argument. Also as the other poster pointed out in that episode that was a possible timeline, not a for sure one. Now I am not a genius, just tell me where to fire, and I will. This being said temporal gets confusing, and you end up with alternate realities stacked up top of each other. So whos to say its cannon to join the feds.
All I know is Klingons take betrayal very seriously so much so that houses can maintain a hatred between each other for generations. Even more so that a entire klingon family can be disgraced for two generations, if they are found guilty of betraying the Empire. I also believe the father and the son both must die in said case. In the klingon eye the Federation abandoned them when they invaded cardassia, and they abandoned them when they rightfully invaded gorn space. Allys do not abandon each other, those actions by the Federation was betrayal. As I have already stated, they take such things extremely serious.

The fundemental flaw in everything you said is that this is fiction!!! Klingons don't exist!!
What IS real : PWE is a business - they want profit and lots of money - that is ALL that matters. Whether the Feds and KDF join is determined by one factor only : can it make MONEY!!

First and foremost why are you here then? Its not because this is the hotest mmo out there. I am here for as authentic of a star trek experience as I can get.
As for your friends over in pefect world. You do not want to know what I would do to China given the chance. Well scratch that I am going to be bad and say it anyways. Sense you brought RL into this covo about Fantasy I am going let you in on some history. The chinese are responsible for a great many American deaths, first in Korea, then in Vietnam. So I have no time for perfect world, if cryptic can use and twist them to improve star trek online so much the better.
If you do not care about the lore of star trek or care for cryptic to maintain a authentic star trek universe, then lovei I have another question for you. Why then do continually get involved in threads like this? If its only about a business decision then you should not care what others think.

Whats a fact is I dont give a TRIBBLE about your doom saying on the future of the KDF.
Of course Cryptic could bend us over the blood wine barrel in season 8. Thats a silly doom. They on the IP. They can basically do what they want.
We as a faction can do nothing but voice our desires and wait and see what S8 brings, just like everyone else.
Getting us all riled up before the season is even a concrete idea is stupid. It acomplishes nothing but troll posts and conjecture on something only the Devs can answer.
Now if Dstahl or whom ever is over the KDF wants to voice in and give a hint on the future, thats great.
Speculating on the future over a very unspecific line in blog is less than bright.
