  • *sigh* It would be a lockbox ship. Thanks for cluing me in, though.
  • I see the appeal of items having higher stacking limits across the board, but do recall that Cryptic is very quietly trying to sell you inventory space increases, too. Given the variability in stack limits, I have to think they're calculated choices, likely related (at least to some extent) to inventory expansion sales.
  • Actually made me laugh out loud with that one. Well played.
  • Two thoughts on this discussion: 1) I got the impression that Starfleet standardized things along the lines of the modern USN (as opposed to USCG and older naval tradition) as the series wore on (which, perhaps not coincidentally, chronologically culminated in a couple of military-themed seasons of DS9). With commodore…
  • I suspected this the second I heard the quests were being changed. I finagled something like a hundred dollars worth of C-Store stuff out of STO for nothing more than starting launchers to Arc games. I imagine the program was always intended to spark interest in other Arc games, and the original implementation just failed…
  • I haven't played my Gamma Recruit that far (played the new episodes on my Fed main first), but don't the old missions have the 'mission simulator' contact in the Episodes menu (like previously completed missions do for other characters)? That would literally make it a (most likely holodeck) simulation.
  • Pretty much, with a side of 'it'll make it easier to donate to my Fed fleet.' I did consider going KDF because a) the Jem'Hadar are more like Klingons than pretty much any Federation species and b) I could use a second marauder. The cited concerns ended up meaning more to me.
  • Isn't there already an exclusive T6 Ferengi ship (more or less a Marauder, but I don't know if it carries the designation) that you can only get as a gift from Cryptic directly? EDIT: Looks like it's a Nagus Marauder. https://sto.gamepedia.com/Ferengi_Nagus_Marauder
  • I've only run the swarm once, is it possible the planet was under attack in the 'liberate it from the Hur'q' sense? I mean, I know that's not very likely, but it would make this description make sense.
  • Y'know, I considered this when I was updating my Romulan toon's admiralty set this afternoon and thought, "Maybe I'm just being too picky." Glad to see I wasn't; I definitely would've liked to just claim the 30 or so cards instead of going through the rigamarole of claiming/unpacking and dismissing ships. I can only…
  • Huh. I want to say it's just the ones actually stationed on your bridge, but that's a good question.
  • ...and also a separate class bearing the name. The page you linked indicates as much. I personally think a Yeager-class ship in STO is unlikely; the introduction, and then reimagining, of Pilot ships was the prime opportunity to do so. The first time I played tom Paris' introductory mission, his ship even bore the name (it…

  • I may not favor a same-sex romance myself, but excluding the option would be both poor business (BioWare got reamed for it with the first two Mass Effect games) and untrue to the source material (which may go so far back as a very suggestive annotation in the novelization of The Motion Picture). I'd like the option of…
  • I named my Phantom William Ross when Delta Rising came out; don't suppose that counts?
  • I thought a novel from way back when (prior to Enterprise's run, much less STO) stated or implied as much. That said, novels have never really been Star Trek canon to Paramount or CBS, and as noted, that origin now directly conflicts with in-game lore from STO (the most relevant lore from this board) and what's on-screen…

  • You'd think, but apparently not Martok. Bashir offers him a replacement eye in an episode of DS9 shortly after they were rescued from the Dominion prison camp, and he declined. His reason escapes me at the moment (wanna say it was to 'remind him of the mistakes he'd made,' but don't quote me on that).
  • Paid access is increasingly out of vogue for the MMO market, and it hasn't even been popular for several years. Even MapleStory (an old guilty pleasure of mine that was way worse with its paid content policies than STO) eventually made their paid access classes and abilities free to access. Freebie T6 ships aren't unheard…
  • Federation/Starfleet-style rebuilding would be consistent with the story, but from an artistic standpoint, I'd rather have it remain Cardassian-style. It adds to the diversity of environments in the game, and since DS9 is effectively a cross-faction hub, having it visually over-represent just one of those factions feels…
  • Thanks for the quick reply. That was what I understood from the wiki, but the data available there appeared incomplete.
  • I feel like we're due for a fresh batch of escorts; we just got a mega-pack of super-heavy cruisers (MW ships), and before that the mega-pack of 'T6 Vestas' (including, of course, Gorn and Romulan versions). I'm not sure how I'd expect to see them themed, or what game mechanics would put them on par with Pilot ships,…
  • Named mine Shakaar, personally. And my main's Starfleet, so I used that U.S.S. prefix (it was that or nothing.
  • Now there's an idea. Even when I started playing three-ish years ago, it felt like the storylines just paid lip service to the idea of the Federation and Klingon Empire being at war, beyond the initial story arc. Ideally, they'd clean up the dialog in the existing arcs and move the formation of the Alliance to the end of…
  • I sometimes think about going back to my Arbiter; I loved that ship. Right now, my main toon (a Tac Admiral, admittedly) commands a Paladin Temporal Battlecruiser. The 4/4 weapon setup isn't great for cannons, but if you're looking to broadside with arrays, that's not a problem. The Pally's also got superior…
  • Pretty much this; the wiki has calculated odds for various prizes, and the odds have been consistent across lockboxes at various prize levels. I say there's not much to lose by officially disclosing the odds.
  • I'd forgotten about de Lancie doing Timelines. Stewart, though, is a bona fide movie star (if largely in supporting roles) these days, so his 'going rate' is probably out of the realm of possibility for Cryptic.
  • Most you should probably just sell, but some are used in DOff assignments that repeat with some regularity. Transporting Colonists is good for 500 dil, seems to be on a 24-ish hour timer, and requires 5 Provisions and 1 Medical Supplies (side note: that did used to be Medical Provisions, right?) Industrial Energy Cells and…
  • Since most attack patterns are tactical BOff powers, I imagine helm is a tactical posting (barring a ship with a Pilot seat attached to a non-tactical department).
  • There's also the actor's individual attitude toward Star Trek to consider. Michael Dorn and Leonard Nimoy were both rather enthusiastic to work with game developers in the past, and I imagine only death kept James Doohan from reprising his role as Scotty for STO at some point. Stewart and Shatner (and I suspect de Lancie)…
  • Thanks for clearing that up (and to Baddmoonrizin for pointing me here). And I'm all for giving to charity, but a very limited budget is part of why I play STO, where almost everything can be had--eventually--with in-game currency.
  • I don't have much experience with Humble Bundle, but I am interested in getting the TOS BOff package. If I'm reading the link correctly, though, it's less 'pay what I want' and more 'pay at least $35' for that particular reward. I'm not questioning the value of the bundle--I recognize the BOffs are only a small part of a…
