A lot of times spawncamps happen in cap&hold because the opposite team is absolutely routed. I don't usually see them happen until the other team is already winning the snot out of the game. I haven't played cap&hold in forever, or much pvp at all really, so maybe tactics have changed. I also play kdf, which cares a lot…
Nobody played it because the horrible queues made it impossible to play. It would only pop with 10 member teams and was at the absolute bottom of like 30 other map options. It wasn't the most popular map beforehand, but that queue update absolutely ruined it.
But punch beams are the funnest cloak detection. They do strike cloaked vessels, yes. It's been a while, but I believe they hit three things, probably the closest. If one of those is a cloaked vessel, it's eating punch beams. Evasive+TBR to kill a battlecloaker is much more awesome than sensor scan+whatever, and... isn't…
There's a critical mass of tractor beams at which polarize hull is completely ineffective. Original Danube's basically swamped all tractor beam counters, for instance. That is, I'd get tractor beamed, polarize hull, and continue not moving due to the three teams worth of tractor beams they could put out. Forumers were of…
Cap and Hold is really, really poorly designed. It can last anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour or two, depending on how many players actually know or are willing to pursue the victory condition. There was basically a 50% chance I'd have to beg my teammates to get out of the stupid cloud whenever I used to queue for them.…
There was one, a space assault called "enemy mine". It had two huge well defended bases and several little ones. You ferried assault teams one at a time from your home base to the little bases for some points or the opposing home for huge points. Long story short, sometime in n the many queue fixing passes, it got thrown…
Honestly, when I fought like the third match in a row with 4+ runabout launchers, I just uninstalled. "We should make a launchable with tractor beams AND chronitons, just in case the tractor beams don't hold!", "power siphons are okay, but they really need shields" and "the jemhadar ship isn't GOOD ENOUGH" are the sort of…
Played an arena tonight with 3 armitages and a cat carrier, apparently all running runabouts. It was quite fun in that "guess I might as well uninstall the game" sort of way. Some of the things they put in the game, I kind of wonder if we're actually intended to enjoy or if it's one of those things that's supposed to make…
I think they may, may be competitive with mirandas. Other than that, in arenas, I can't imagine you not being a detriment to the team unless you're really awesome and pug-stomping newbies.
