That's because Hollywood goes with what works, and never deviates from the the generic movie formula. That was my whole point. We're never going to get a very intelligent Trek film (though we kinda got one with TMP, badmouth it all you want B)).
Why was"Masks" bad if I may ask? I kinda enjoyed it actually. I absolutely agree on "Sub Rosa" however. It seemed like it was supposed to be a terrible Halloween special.
I pretty much grew up watching next generation episodes every night with my dad when I was little. I loved it so much that we would finish all 7 seasons and then start over again. Later on we ended up buying the TOS box set and started watching those, and then DS9 after that.
I agree that FC was perhaps one of the best ones (I still love TMP). It's hard to explain, but it was just done so well, and the plot moved along at a good pace. We even got to see the effects that assimilation had on Picard years later and how they influenced him now. And yes, I know it's blasphemy but I actually liked…

It doesn't make the ship look high tech or futuristic, but rather makes it look like the entire thing runs on diesel. Second is the scaling. The…
@ratttler2 I never said that I thought "what does God need with a starship" was a good movie either lol (though it beat ST VI, blasphemy, I know). Sorry I can't quote your original post, but that function isn't working on my tablet.
Personally, I really don't have a problem with the whole alternate universe thing. The main problems I have with the new movies are the bad plots and things that didn't make any sense in any rational way.
For ground PvP, I'd have to say Planetside 2, even if it is slightly pay 2 win. All the classes seem balanced and there are no absurd abilities that get in the way of combat. On top of that, it is all about spatial awareness and fast reflexes. I like that.
