Why? that's seriously dumb. I mean, about the news in the OP.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

They probably want to capitalize on increased interest generated by Beyond by making people rent or buy all previous movies if they want to watch them.

((holds head)) Really? You guys don't see the OBVIOUS necessary step removing them from Netflix so they can be available exclusively through their own company streaming service and positioned to support their new Star Trek show tentpole?

Netflix regularly adds and removes shows and movies. They don't have everything available at all times.

Netflix, kindly removing content since...whenever. It seems that whenever I want to watch something on there they don't have it.

Yeah, Netflix regularly cycles movies out of their library. This can be a result of multiple things, such as license agreements expiring -- or options not to renew (for instance if somebody wants more money), or non-compete agreements and the like (example: Amazon Prime gets exclusive rights to a certain movie/set of movies for X amount of time).

Or this could be because CBS is letting their contracts with Netflix expire so they can put all the Star Trek stuffs into their own streaming service exclusively.

Could mean Netflix was an Axanar fan and is quitting Trek.

if that were true, they'd be removing ALL of their trek offerings instead of just the first 7 films
Like special weapons from other Star Trek games? Wondering if they can be replicated in STO even a little bit? Check this out: https://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1262277/a-mostly-comprehensive-guide-to-star-trek-videogame-special-weapons-and-their-sto-equivalents

If Netflix was an Axanar fan that movie would have had a real license with CBS about 30 minutes later and would be coming out as a 10 episode miniseries in the fall to absolutely rave reviews by all sides.

There's a difference between removing and allowing contracts to expire. The films and TV shows may have different expiration dates. It could be that the other stuff just hasn't expired yet. They can't remove something before it expires, otherwise they'd be in breach of contract and whatnot.
