There will be a big supervillan bad guy. We may or may not know why he's so bad, but just that he's one dimensional and really bad while wanting to kill millions of people or destroy earth. The crew of the Enterprise will then get attacked by the bad guy, possibly in a big heavily armed ship that outclasses the Enterprise. The bad guy is then introduced to the main cast, at which point he attacks the Enterprise in a big battle with lots of CGI explosions that leave the audience confused and disoriented in terms of what is going on. Kirk then decides that he has to go after the bad guy (possibly with Spock or Bones). There will then be several close quarters phaser battles with really choppy action sequences that leave the audience further disoriented, while a fist fight is then carried out and Kirk gets his shirt ripped. The situation will look extremely bleak for the heros as the bad guy is about to carry out his grand plan. When Kirk finally gets to him, some miracle that defies the laws of physics lets Kirk somehow kill or render the bad guy helpless. If the later occurs, the bad guy will be somehow imprisoned, but left with the posibility of returning in a future sequel.
This will be the general plot for all future sequels for the Trek movie franchise.

Not to mention any number of TOS, TNG, and VOY episodes that follow a similar formula.
Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved 800 lives, including your mother's, and yours.
I dare you to do better.
That's because Hollywood goes with what works, and never deviates from the the generic movie formula. That was my whole point. We're never going to get a very intelligent Trek film (though we kinda got one with TMP, badmouth it all you want ).
My character Tsin'xing
Well, trying to watch it is an intelligent way to cure insomnia ...
This guy knows!
