Now the part that makes people quit. How many effects are there that Borg NPCs can use to stop you from jumping/running? I'm pretty sure assimilation nanites do and I know that EG field does. I'm not 100% sure which specific Borg have them though. The best way to do the console puzzle is to have two guys on the center platform shooting Borg. At any rate, making one jump without either mis-timing it or whatever is easy, but having three team members make a series of.. let's see... I count an even 20 jumps each. That's 60 repetitions and if any one of them fails for any reason(player error, Borg attack, lag) then that attempt at solving the console puzzle fails. Honestly this would be made far easier simply by not having it be a lockout. A big part of the problem is that you can't respawn.
I am confused as to why people see this part of the map as such a challenge.
It's not even a 'jump puzzle,' there are cubes that line up so you can practically run across them without jumping. A quick tap of the jump button all but guarantees you will make it.. there is a large area to leap from and a large area to land on. Honestly, the only way this part is difficult is if you do what Kael did and jump from the Ramp. Even that's not bad if you jump from the top.. the reason he made it look so difficult is because for some reason, he jumped from the bottom part of the ramp to try and get up to the cubes. I am baffled why anyone would do this once.. he did it like 3 times and didn't seem to get that you can't jump that way.
I usually don't PUG this mission because for some reason people don't understand the 'puzzle' which still.. isn't even a real puzzle. I would say that Kael made this mission look much harder then it is (which he did) but the truth is, he was a typical PUG and for some reason, many people have these issues with this map.
Personally, I would prefer that some type of explanation be added in instead of having the map drastically altered. Being though as to how Kael failed so horribly and all but demanded it be 'fixed' I am expecting that it will soon be changed to be a quick and brainless auto win map.
I don't understand why his reaction was 'fix the map' as opposed to 'I need to learn how to play this map.'
That did surprise me as well. His reaction to what to do regarding the map. Kinda of disappointed and saddened me as well.

No real explanation is needed. It's simple. Not nuanced, not complex, not "complicated." He really is that terrible. And lazy. Taking time to learn is beneath him. He skipped right through the dialogue, without looking to see if there were any hints or tips. He didn't take a powder when the heat was getting on him, to better assess the situation. He's wanting it to become journalist difficulty with handholding, that you can just brute force through and auto-win at. Spacebar BFaW for victory. I know you didn't miss the Leeroy Jenkins that he kept doing, running ahead of his team into a cactus patch of Borg. He even referenced the icon himself. Or when he immediately hopped from the floor to try and get onto a standing block while nearly dead, so soon after being revived, especially after having someone pulling back to jumpstart-drag him out of the "acid bath." He engaged enemies over and over while nearly dead. At that point, he was feeding the enemy and his team will have to visit a chiropractor afterwards(he still left during the TFO without talking to the team. Captain Leaver and Terrible Teammate indeed) because of how heavy he was on their backs. There was his lack of situational awareness, and going afk during the firefight. And attempting to leave halfway through the TFO because he wasn't paying attention to the surroundings or mission. Having an upgraded shiny gold Warhammer 40k power sword doesn't mean a damn thing when you're racking up injuries because you see a brick wall, but feel that your low health and Chris Benoit condition brain can make easy work of that brick wall. His "build," with the kit modules and gear didn't help either. How many kit modules did he use besides the Agony Field Generator(because it looks cool)?

I tried to put it.. nicely.. you just went for it.
I am not sure I am surprised by a lack of situational awareness by someone that is streaming and presumably trying to reply to questions or asking them himself to visitors.
The sad thing however might be that this totally works for most Space TFOs.

Sitting there doing nothing totally works for most space TFOs. The new ones anyway.
Ok, guys, let's dial it back a bit. The insults aren't necessary.

I recall several people complaining about the "Tenebris Torquent" mission in ViL for similar reasons. There is a short jumping section at the beginning, and I recall a number of people coming onto the forums and complaining they tried this section 10+ times and simply couldn't do it, making the mission impossible to progress for them.
For me at first it was just the lighting made it extremely hard to know when to jump.
i missed it the first time...because i didn't see the chasm until it was too late
but i am...maybe not a master, but at least decent at the kind of jumping puzzles seen in mario games, so platforming in STO isn't an issue for me...it's more of an issue in games like skyrim which are NOT designed for platforming elements, yet several modders insist on including such elements in their adventure mods
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"

Because nothing says Adventure like platform jumping Mario Style.
With IGA (and IGN) the problem is that STO's somewhat random jumping mechanics are combinied with an (practically) instakill pit with no respawns. So for new teams it'll be really frustrating since if 3 people manage to fail the jumping section in bad place it's a party wipe since you can't re-enter the fight if you respawn and only way to reset the fight is thru all the players dying.
Sure you can eventually figure out how to do it thru sheer tenacity but I can see why some people could consider it "not worth the effort".
yeah, really...why bother when any of the space versions rewards the same marks - or more - for far less hassle? nothing unique drops anymore, and elite STILL does not exist so you can't even farm accolades for uniform variants

Plenty of game streamers who can multitask and not shart the bed in game while fielding comments or questions. Or he could've had his tag team partner field the conversation, relaying the chatter, and he can answer while playing in the TFO. Or he can finish the TFO, without Richarding his team over, then address the questions and comments.

There wasn't any insulting going on. Unless pointing out the truth and what was wrong is now considered insulting. Or unless you find a community manager blaming the game and wanting it changed to either remove part of the game, or brought down even closer to the lowest common denominator, as insulting.
I’m inclined to agree, the objective is not to insult Kael personally, that’s unnecessary. It is however, fair to question the idea that a representative of Cryptic is advocating for a change in content based on nothing but their own failure to understand said content.
Again, I don’t blame him for struggling with the map, especially if it’s the first time he’s played it. My issue is with the mentality that because he struggled, that means the content is ‘bad,’ ‘outdated,’ or ‘broken.’ I would have preferred that he instead took the approach that he was unprepared and set a goal to do better next time.
This content is not difficult, it was simply made difficult by lack of understanding. That problem is easily remedied.
Yes, he is smart. He saw what happened to the ones that did use the prefix.

I'm referring to the name-calling and the unfair accusations. That's insulting and completely unnecessary to making your points. Otherwise, I'm not saying anything about the rest of your critiques.
“Once again, Captain Leaver”.
...its a matter of lazyness...
He really is that terrible. And lazy. Taking time to learn is beneath him.
