I'm sure by know, most if not all know what I'm talking about by this. Especially if you spent any time on DS9 or Drozana Station. I am also sure Crytpic has just been ignoring the multitude of reports against this, while trying to come up with a solution that doesn't include banning players. So I have come up with the solution. No one need get banned and the problem gets solved.
And the solution is very simple.
Just make any PvE non-combat zone, like Risa, and disable all Captain and Trait abilities. The problem gets solved, no one gets banned, and everyone but those using those ability for this are happy. The abilities can be used inside the missions for those planets and starbases that have them. Like Qo'nos, DS9, ESD, and Drozana. Just in the non-mission version the abilities are locked out, just like Risa.
And there you have it.

How can you quantify "harass" on a digital avatar?
Just ingore other people.
I'm not talking about disco balls. Those actually still work on Risa, as do the party gun things. So those would still work. Just things like class abilities and trait abilities would be disabled, i.e. Security Team and T5 Terran smokescreen, would be disabled.
A small subset of the playerbase frequently complains about all things that happen in social zones, including other players standing "too close" or "wearing the wrong uniform".
Cryptic is well aware of these complaints and is taking the actions they deem appropriate for the issue.
Now the duration... there is a discrepancy. Romulan Security Teams last longer than Fed and KDF.

this statement also applies to forum threads like this one. just because some people may not like seeing them does not mean those people should be able to control other people and stop them from posting them.
Its not all about Dental, Either. If you guys just left us alone, this thread would not exist. Yet you insist on bullying and harassing other players with those powers/abilities just because of what they like to do. Roleplayers are not that bad, If you don't like roleplayers, Just leave us alone and go to another instance. We can't control what other players do.. but neither do you. We like to Roleplay, Is that so bad? Is it so hard to ask to be able to play the game the way WE want to play it? Why cant you guys just leave us alone? We just want to Roleplay without having our computers lag out because of your ignorance.
This isn't to say there isn't some merit in optimizing certain abilities like the T5 Terran Empire reputation power, to be less resource intensive -- as that is something that should be looked into.
However, I do feel it is important to point out that by expressing your public dissatisfaction with harassing behavior, you encourage that behavior to continue. While you may very well appreciate the attention you're getting, any of your friends who hang out with you in certain social zones likely will not appreciate the ringing of the dinner bell to DS9, Drozana, or wherever.
Lisa Simpson and Paul Anka developed an even simpler solution than the one OP is proposing way back in 1995.

i agree. and anyone who would go so far as to call this thread a "dog-whistle hate thread" is definitely displaying a victim complex too.
the OP might be silly, but calling this thread "hate" is definitely victim-complex behavior.
As soon as one thread gets shut down two more appear.
That could actually be quite funny... 1 player who's being followed by literally over 100 (or 9000) security escorts
This can actually happen.
Don't ask me why though.
Really? I have my doubts about the 9000 thing. Eh, I mean, 9001. It has to be over 9000 of course.
Because this solution is equal and fair to all involved.
I still believe that liberated Borg should get a special trait that allows them to assimilate an ally.
Who needs security escorts when you can create your own private army of fellow players that you can send after someone?
its easy. if someone has a victim complex then any time someone say something they don't like, it is automatically some kind of "hate speech".
