I'd like an actual class balance pass.

Bring Engineering and Science up to par with Tactical. It's always seemed silly for example that a Tactical flying a science ship is more effective than a Science captain ever can be.

I'd also like a skill and item overhaul.

Which is to say do a pass of all the skills that no one uses and the items that buff them and make them useful or if impossible just remove them. When I say this I am thinking about things like Viral Matrix and Sub Space Decompiler and things like Boarding Party and other system disables/skills that don't last long enough to have any useful function.

And a change for skills that drain shields.

I suggest making them percent based instead of draining 500 shields which doesn't scale with difficulty make them drain 20% of shields scaling with gear or simply make them alter shield strength by percent.

Stuff like this is what I'd like.

As long as we are adding canon ships we haven't seen yet, I have always liked the Zalkonian version of the Tarellian ship. The pink bubble of the Tarellian version did nothing for me, but the overall lines of the model were excellent. Plus, the Zalkonians had that crew disabling weapon that would make for an interesting console.

The Steamrunner available to everyone. I play through Arc not Steam. The Steamrunner is one of my favorite designs and not being able to fly it makes me sad. :'(

Or put the Obelisk in the reclaim store. I do have it on a couple of toons, would like it on the others too.
Actually, you can buy one from the fleet holdings, I think you need to go to the Spire.
    Thanks. I'll check it out.
just to be clear: this is the Basic Obelisk, not the same as the one in the Lobi Store.

Yes, I saw that when I looked. My Rom eng has one and it's quite good for a T5 carrier. I just wish it could be made acct wide like all the other ships for those who earned at least one during event.
Now a LTS and loving it.

Federation and Klingon specific reputation and gear. I can get all manner of cool stuff related to all kinds of factions, but I want my sovereign to look like a proper starfleet vessel. So I use phasers/quantums/photons only. My bird-of-prey will never use anything besides disruptors and torps. Why not let me buy cool MkXII gear for that?

A mission with a malfunctioning holodeck. You can't do time travel and mirror universe but not do a holodeck episode every once in a while. Of course, the safeties go off, and you have to work your way to the end of the program. That's bad, when you're doing the Alamo at Quark's, for instance. Would be nice if you got a cool historic weapon with bullets (TR116?) that the Borg can't adapt to.

Proper big, non-combat missions that aren't just collect X of Y. Zero gravity exploration, archaeological digs, first contact - that sort of thing.

A faction fix for the DS9 and Deferi missions, or make them skippable. It's really annoying to play as a Romulan and constantly being treated as a Fed. You even invite people unto your ship - which is then suddenly a Starfleet vessel, or you are suddenly in 'your' starfleet shuttle with a starfleet pilot.

Better AI, more focused on positioning than more glowy abilities. Let escorts race out of range (cloak), and then do attack runs in groups, while the big bad battleships circle around you with broadsides.

Lower ceilings and more compact ship interiors. They are ships. Sure, they are big, but the ceilings are three to four meters high - even on runabouts. That's fine for a flight deck or an observation lounge, but not for general corridors, let alone on a cramped bird of prey or a runabout.

The ability to fail a mission, instead of everything just being a checklist. Do it so you'd still finish it, but with no or little reward and a bad feeling for not doing the right thing.

Alpha and Beta Quadrant politics post-Iconian war. Instead of just introducing something else to be at war with; do some cool political intrigue between the peoples we know, Tal Shiar vs Section 31 vs some sort of new Obsidian Order and Klingon Intelligence - and you in the crossfire. A good one on one with a legendary insanely hard to beat adversary would be nice, too.

Make the Borg scary outside of STF's. A borg cube goes down far too quickly. Surely, the Borg have adapted over the past forty years?

An option to turn off all the lights and bells for abilities. Combat looks like a light show at higher levels. There is no reason my ship should turn purple when I yell 'Brace for impact' or have a huge glowy circle for attack patterns, etc. I'd like an option to only show the things I can 'really see'.

An option to turn off out-of-screen player names. I don't care how everyone is called L0rdS0urB1scu1t5, and it clutters my screen. So I have player's names turned off. But the names still show when they're out near but of screen.

Missions that take place aboard your own ship. Say, it is being assimilated by the borg or overrun by Nausican pirates or something.

Well, I have recently returned to playing STO after around a 6 month hiatus and I am glad to see there is a T6 BoP. Waiting for a ship sale before buying though.

As for what I would like to see in 2016 beyond the usual request for bug fixes are T6 science ships for the KDF and RR factions. My KDF and RR scientists are simply getting by with the 2014 Anniversary T5u Dyson Science Destroyer. Compared to T5u Federation science ships, they kinda suck....

Many good ideas in this thread but what I quoted is what I would really love.

Tactical captains should be the top of DPS potential but not also having power levels and heals that only an engineer should achieve and adding major bonuses to science skills.

I do believe c-store and lobi items should be the best but, all equipment should be looked at in a "is there a real reason to put this on a ship?" kind of way. Take the +power eng consoles. What amount of power would it take to make one even worth using? +10? +20? The more viable everything is the more builds there would be for everyone. I think variety adds fun and health to the game.

I would also like a t6 sovvie/regent and at least one KDF/RR t6 science ship.

The ability for Romulan captains to be able to fly any allied purchased ships would be nice. We paid for them, after all- and restricting us to have to buy specific faction ships with Zen outside of this is a pathetic business model, IMO. Pigeonholing really doesn't provide incentive to want to spend more money, after all- choices do.

Oh and balancing T-5U/T6 purchase options would also be nice, considering the vast differences in "upgrade token" versus purchasing new T6 ships. Perhaps offer free upgrade tokens to people (like at least one per account) instead of forcing everyone to have to buy them in order to play above current ship. Would be nice considering many of us invested a great deal of money in ships previous to T6 announcements.
It's not you- it's me. I just need my space.

Being critical doesn't take skill. Being constructively critical- which is providing alternative solutions or suggestions to a demonstrated problem, however, does.

My wishlist(from plausible to least plausible in my non-game dev perspective):

1-Playable Cardassian faction (not just 'Cardassian' alien characters allied with UFP/KDF/RRF, but an actual faction)

2-Integrated 'story blogs' into the game as unlockables on an in-game journal

      3-Make lockboxes stack to 9,999

      4-Separate bag slot for commodities

5-At least 6 new specializations(I have a LOT of spec points saved up)

6-Expand Commando into a primary specialization; if not a line of ships, then a new system that is ground-friendly so that future 'ground-only' specializations don't suffer as well

7-The ability to swap your captain out for a BOFF in social maps

8-Additional costume slots for BOFFs (even if they have to share the pool with captain costume slots) and ships

9-The ability to swap your captain out for a BOFF in combat maps

10-Make Tovan Khev's presence in our BOFF roster optional (hell, even HIDING him somehow would help immensely)

      Sovereign update on graphics.
More hair options specially on KDF and Romulan.
      Bridge options for the Romulan.
More clothing options for KDF and Romulan.
Rep for Fed and KDF. Similar to the Romulan Rep. This way you get nice gear for your own Fed and KDF.
Better missions so its not all copy/paste. So they will have their own flavor. This will help when your doing the 3 factions.

      A true Romulan Science ship.
A new Ground Battlezone taking the best elements of Dyson and Vaadwaar and creating a epic Dominion Battle zone
Ground weapons esp phasers and disrupters to be given new TNG-VOY skins.
R&D mats to be easily obtainable in bulk rather than random drops like in the good old days when we had star clusters to farm mats.
      T6 Sovereign Class

I've been waiting since the first T6 ship came out!

Similar to this. The ability to skip a space battle without having to abort the whole mission, perhaps with a reduced reward.

Also, make off-duty outfits available to boffs. For example, I'd like to able to dress my whole crew as mercenaries or outfit one as a Ferengi trader.

In addition, as a form of the reduction of gameplay/story segregation, I would also like to see things that players can do be presented in the story, such as reputation equipment being attributed to actual task forces(like MACO is already), and for NPCs to fly salvaged enemy ships to represent lockbox ships among story characters.

Has there been a Rise of the Machines? The BoP won't let YOU use anything but Disruptors ND Photon Torpedoes. I could see it if YOU won't let your BoP equip anything but Disruptors and Photons. The former has frightening implications.

They have given out free T5U Upgrade Tokens with T5 Ship purchases. Usually with a Ship Sale.

5/3 for Klingon battlecruisers, Romulan warbirds and the Galor. See here: https://youtube.com/watch?v=EDLjtp2Ummw
      Encouraging DBB/cannon builts.

Higher muzzle verlocity (sort of) for cannons. See clip above.

Light blue Dominion polaron weapons, yellow (with green traces) bio phasers. FFS (dominion) polarons are light blue ! And phasers yellow. Wouldn't mind if the bio torp would become yellow/orange as the fed photons usually are. The thing was inspired by a Voyager episode, and there the torp was NOT green.

Reworking of the existing reputation 3 piece weapon sets. They should always give a choice between a DHC/DBB or omnibeam/turret.
      2 examples:
Romulan set, currently beam array, torpedo, console. >>> omni beam OR turret, torpedo, console.
Nukara set, currently DBB, mine, console >>> DBB OR DHC, mine, console.

A step towards a full Romulan faction. At least a security officer in new Romulus command/fleet and Romulan fleet starbases, fleet plasma weapons and so on. Access to the Reman district on New Romulus.

Orion, Nausicaan, Gorn and Reman ship interiors/bridges.

Orion and Gorn homeworld and a Nausicaan asteroid base (Tortuga ?). Removal of all those non-Klingon random NPC's in the first city.
No issues with some Nausicaan mercs drinking in the bar, some Orions selling "special commodities" there or the odd Gorn trader. Same with ship crews. Klingon ships should have Klingon crews, Orion ships Orion crewman and so on.
Stop this red federation bs please !

KDF and Romulan science ships. There is a canon science vessel for Romulans, bring it to STO ! The Klingons would probably just modify a retired battlecruiser for such a task. T6 K'T'inga or Kamarag maybe ?

More hairstyles for KDF and Romulans.

Two usefull space and ground traits for each race. I don't want a bridge full of Nausicaans on my Klingon ship.

      Ah, and T6 Vor'cha/Sovereign.

That's kinda neat, but I'd kinda want to see more scenarios like in The Search for Spock, where a protagonist crew took control of an enemy faction ship and renamed it. The example is not exactly the re-commissioned enemy ships I'd like to see, but it's the closest example in a show or movie I can currently think of.

And while Foundry content is very entertaining and well put together at times, I'm looking for more 'official' story acknowledgement of these game features. I want to feel as if I'm earning my way into the ranks of established military divisions via the rep system, and that flying enemy ships with allied energy signatures on them is acknowledged and endorsed by command as well as more wide-spread than limited to the group of captains who rose through the ranks in a year or two in-story.

Cryptic has delivered 90% of what I've asked for already, so it's getting to the point I'm having a hard time coming up with something to ask for. Honestly, it has more to do with reforming their business practices than anything they are capable of producing. It's more about how they produce rather than what they produce.

      In no particular order:

Finishing out the canon ships, even if it means packaging them with a 2410-era design. Norway, New Orleans, Niagara, Freedom, and the other obscure ships.

More science ships for Romulans and KDF.

More ways to get valuable duty officers.

Expanding R&D to include selecting specific modifiers for gear, and other customizations to tailor to player desire.

Reopening Memory Alpha, possibly as a lore depository.

I'd really like Tolian Soran's Disruptor pistol from Generations.

Fixing older content to scale with the current meta. I'm looking at you, Voth Battlezone.

Doing something about the queues. It's a shame to see all that work wasted creating mission content when it becomes a desert half a year later. I personally love Mine Trap, but I understand why others don't want to waste their limited amount of time playing it.

Better ethical monetization. I don't mind giving PWE/Cryptic money. But I don't play any EA games because I consider them to be evil. I liked Cryptic a lot more when they were anti-evil, and while I can't equate Cryptic to EA, in my opinion they've lost their way. I understand the reasons why. But I still can't bring myself to supporting them financially like I used to.

The whole T5-U/T6 ship rollout is still fresh in my mind and still gives me a rather poor opinion of their practices. Some can call it sour grapes, but it's still something I have difficulty reconciling with. I have yet to purchase a T6 ship for that reason, and I think I'll break that trend when they come out with the T6 flagships. Whether or not I purchase any others after that is up in the air.

I'm capable of changing my opinion, I'm capable of being influenced. I'm capable of reconsidering where I spend my money. But it is really up to PWE/Cryptic whether or not they want take a second look at how they have established their paywalls and whether it is worth reworking some of them so they don't seem unreasonable, or at worst -- greedy.

They aren't past the point where I'll give up on them (Stephen Ricossa and Borticus in particular have really made meaningful headway into addressing customer concerns), but at their current course of applying minimal effort for maximum profit, I'll likely cut ties and go to the numerous other games whose companies emphasise ethical monetization. That's not intended to be an "I Quit" threat or anything like that, but it's completely normal to lose interest in a game after 5 years and there's nothing wrong with that. I just don't see anything new and amazing to keep that waning interest there.

I'd like something new. Something we've never seen before. I want to see more risks taken by Cryptic. I want to see them push the envelope and make customers and the rest of the game industry look at STO and say, "Wow... I wish we'd thought of that."

EvE Online hasn't remained relevant because they just repackage the same thing in a different color.

Outside-the-box thinking is important, I hope Stephen Ricossa thinks so too as we get into the year 2016.

I'd like to see Steven Tyler brought in the game to provide voice overs. Preferably for a character that (temporarily) replaces Admiral Quinn as the highest ranking Starfleet officer :)

Would be so much fun to have a high ranking official with Steven's voice :p

I'm kinda curious how you define this... Especially in the context of "other games do it better".

There are numerous articles on the interwebs that explain it better than I ever could. Here's one of them.

But if you want some honest opinions on which games do it better, I can list a few off the top of my head. Warframe. and Path of Exile.

I'm not advocating they copy what other games do exactly as they do, because STO is its own creation and any ethical monetization changes (if any), need to come from in-house.

But really, when it comes to STO, it gives me the impression they only work for the short term. I'm not seeing a lot of long term vision in their plans. If I'm not seeing a clear path of where a game is going, I'm going to end up losing interest faster because I'm not interested in playing for the short term.
