I starting to think that the only way the DPS mongers in this game will be happy is if they give a cruiser tactical ship seating or some unique seating like the Palisade.
You've completely missed my point. The Galaxy class despite being designated a exploration cruiser, also served as a formidable battleship. Hence they were designed to bring a considerable amount of fire power to the battle field as well as take a beating. But your right forget the tactical abilities, ramp up the engineering capabilities and produce yet another ship that needs Aux2Bat to work half decent. And before anyone else chimes in, yes I've seen a couple of Galaxy class dreadnoughts that aren't aux2bat'd and can still hold their own and no they're not all members of the DPS channels.
But to make the point I had in mind, a Boff seating arrangement more in line with the Odyssey class cruisers would do well. In the Odyssey we have a exploration cruiser than can be re-purposed into either a damage dealer, Tank or something in between. without the need to fall back on the old Aux2bat crutch.
charging full price for 're-releases' is to cover the cost of doing such a killer remodeling of the iconic ships, and the creation of a whole new skin as well. thats what your paying for, more so then the trait, station power, and presumably command hybrid access.
you all should have known it was foolish to waste a cent on tier5U upgrades, especially on iconic, canon ships.
I would hope these ships don't all share the same stats (wouldn't quite make sense since the Galaxy is a full fledged cruiser while the other two are battlecruisers).
Then they would probably keep the same stats as their predecessors, only with a 13th Boff slot somewhere (the Big D could have a very interesting Boff layout, even more than right now) and some specialization.
Command would make sense. Of course Intel is more useful.
It won't be pilot for a very simple reason. The Pilot spec being made primary comes with season 10, AKA not yet this Thursday when the ships are released.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
And my T5U Ody just became obsolete. Thanks for nothing.
Your Oddy is not obsolete. T5U ships are more than comparable to T6. One extra console slot or bridge officer ability is not going to make or break the game where end content is concerned. If you truly think that these ships make your Oddy obsolete, then you're not playing very well. :P
All T5U ships are still prime. People don't need T6 ships to be victorious.
A question to go along with this: is the current Galaxy Dreadnought skin getting a facelift like the current T6 Galaxy Class is to make it look more canon?

I imagine if you want the saucer seperation console you will need to have purchased the Gal-R or have it with a VA token. I got mine with the token and was annoyed to find that while dismissing the Gal-X it got destroyed (it was greyed out, so shouldn't have been). I can't reclaim one since I never "bought" it and filing tickets for help went unanswered.
My only problem is that now I'm going to be spewing out six phaser beams from the one array. I really wish we could link our phasers so they only displayed one beam (or even linked the individual array weapon consoles into a single heavy hitting slow RoF beam.

A well built scimitar will still obliterate pretty much anything in it's path and is capable of out performing any current T6 ship. My old ship was retired in favour of revamping my old Odyssey both of which are T5-U. Now if I'm going to part with my Ody, then these new ships have at least got to be on par with it. And a flashy console thats more likely to be a gimmick than practically useful ain't going to cut it. Despite my love for Galaxy class design, I look at it from a purely performance point of view now.

Where do the other 3 exactly come from? Intel? Command? Regular C-store? Temporal Lockbox? Veteran?
Each of these new ships has their own new costume, but can also use parts from ships within the same family. The Andromeda Class Exploration Cruiser gains access to parts from the Galaxy and Monarch costumes and can also use parts from the Venture Class if you own that starship. The NeghTev Heavy Battlecruiser has access to both the NeghVar and the QuDaj costumes. The DKhellra Warbird Battlecruiser can use the DDeridex costume, and if you own the Dridthau costume you can also use its interchangeable costume parts.
In addition to all this, all NeghVar variants (including the NeghTev) will have access to the new voDleH costume for free

Most likely; though you'll more than likely need to have purchased the older Galaxy/Venture to get the console that enables it.
This is no different to people purchasing a T2 ship, then a T3 ship etc etc...
People are only bitter because it means spending more money (which can be earned through playing the game if people don't want to open their wallets). The simple truth is, if people don't spend their money on the game, then the guys behind the game don't get paid, and the people/players don't get a game to enjoy. If people want these new ships (of which are optional - they're not a necessity) then they should cough up the fee.
I've been waiting for these (specifically, a new Negh'var) for a while now. I've held off on purchasing a T6 ship until these ones came - and here they are. I've upgraded six T5 ships (thus now, they're T5U) and I'm content with that decision.
People don't mind spending countless $$$ on master keys to get a doff pack, but then cry about a 3kzen ship price. Baffling.
Although true, I do no believe that is valid anymore. The company, it seems, is aiming for more profit. It's not just to keep the game running anymore. By breaking even from what income they get will keep the game going just fine. However, they want more than to break even which is profit. It's no longer about keeping the game going as it is about making a profit.... it's only logistically convenient that, to an extent, they are two in the same but still different.

As players, we would consider the ship "costumes" as skins - the dev(s) writing the post probably used that as a placeholder, unless it was intentional.
I'd be perfectly fine with that too (APL and Pilot Team instead of Overwhelm Emitters and Concentrate Firepower). But not as likely since they were insisting that Piloting spec would be only on small ships. Unless the Galaxy is the new small.
Yeah, but was that meant to be taken 100% literally or was it just flavor text for the write up of the pilot specialization? If you think about it, they're introducing a new BOff specialization (that has quite a few appealing abilities), but they don't have any ships that can actually take advantage of it yet. It makes much more sense that the recently announced ships will make use of piloting than Command or Intel.
Then again, Cryptic's been known for walking back their stance. They're already walking back on their "No T6 versions of existing ships at this time" statement. Of course, probably just in order to further pad out their T6 line up.
The key words there are "at this time" lol. Qualifiers for the win, right? I wouldn't be surprised if they released T6 versions of all the previous ships as time passes. It's easier than coming up with wholly new ships, since the assets are already in place. Just needs some slight tweaking to the stats and maybe some new costume parts.
