What I don't understand is why the already-established command ships of each fleet (the designated Flagships of the Odyssey, Bortas, and Scimitar classes) are not receiving this mechanic when Command is specifically their reason for being in existence.
Instead, the various powers went and designed whole new ships and left their primary command ships forgotten?
When the devs posted that they would be informing the playerbase later about which ships would receive Command abilities, I thought they meant actual command flagships would be made able to perform their functions along with the new races' designated command ships. Now, it seems they meant 'We'll be showing you our next lineup of ships soon'.
Instead of running out shotgun-style ship packages of new ships, why not update the ships already in existence and in need of an update and giving us more refined content such as better ship interiors (I'm still waiting for the Risian Luxury Cruiser interior as well as the Galaxy interior we were teased with a mention of before the Galaxy pack came out), more planetary locations (Betazed, Cardassia Prime, Rura Pentha, ect), and things like Fleet Colonies (your Fleet might need their own planetary base to supply all those ships you fly around with) or Fleet Centers (at each Homeworld where potential recruits could visit to learn about the fleet and apply to it out of the Academy)?
It just seems that these new ships are trying to fill roles already filled by ships specifically tagged for that role, while those same established flagships are being ignored as though they don't exist.
I'll echo that. I was feeling similarilly.
I saw this as a chance to insert visual variants - Pathfinder-style - to the Odyssey and Bortas'qu. I kept thinking, within that frame of mind, that the Typhoon could've served as a superb basis for an Odyssey costume variant and been an excuse for a T6 ship as well.
Am I the only one whom thinks that would've been a fantastic idea that would've gotten two birds with one stone, and made people in general very happy?
I actually like the Romulan command warbirds, but I would've enjoyed them much more if they had been slated as T6 variants of the Daeinos veteran warbird (they basically look like cooler versions of it).
Ok the fact that they've Fleet equivalent stats, the price isn't so bad now.
(Are fleet variants still possible or are star bases dead to Cryptic now as a revenue stream and game mechanic, thus launched these with fleet stats?)
Also, well done on giving the Feds one of the only remaining ship types still exclusive to the KDF, the FDC. Although you did give to roms too and made sci/tac/engy variants too, which I've been wanting for KDF for a long time (tac oriented Dacoit T5 refit).
This essentially gives me availability of T6 Marauder, Dacoit and Corsair on all my toons now. For that I shall be handing over the moolahs asap. GG
EDIT: Suppose I can remove the request for Fleet Marauder and Dacoit from my signature. Devs pulled through for me

When was the Fleet Marauder and Dacoit announced?
Kurland Here Kurland Here This is Kurland Kurland Kurland Here Kurland, Do you copy?
I do have to say, glad enough boosts were added to each console equipped so that equipping all 4 wasn't looked at as a waste of console space (Great design change from previous sets).
Much this ^
Making them worth while slotting in their own right without sacrificing the passive boosts of what they're displacing makes them actually worth considering slotting permanently, not for gimmick lols before taking em off to get serious.
well looking at the stats they are still gimping us, shield mod is lower than fed versions and crew size is double the amount .
standard cloaking device. which is still costing us a bridge officer power giving us 10 instead of fed 11 and standard cloak sucks pve and PvP so might as well remove it altogether
and a ever so slightly better hull rating over the feds but not enough to make up for the crew heal gimp of the larger crew.
I really wish they're either fix the crew mechanic so higher crew number actually meant something instead of being the tiny disadvantage it is.
Just simply making it so anything that injures/kills crew does it as a fixed amount or rate, not a percentage. Percentage makes large crews irrevelant and worse because they take longer to recover. Fixed kill numbers, say 10 per torp hit would make larger crew sizes worthy somewhat, means they've got more of a buffer before bottoming out.
Fed shields, KDF hull and Rom battlecloak trade offs are fair imo.
That is one of the things that made that scimitar awesome though. And it wasn't a flight deck cruiser.
Instead of a hanger for fighters why not a hanger for anything?
Why can't I put my jem attack ship or tholian frigate on it?
The only single hanger ships to have frigates, I think, are the Sheshar and Scimi. Both are huge in their own right. There, frigates 'make sense'. KDF FDC's and now these command ones are much smaller in size, a little bigger than Avenger/Mogh really. Don't have the internal volume imo to house frigates.
Breen carrier is a bit odd ball in that respect, Plesh frigates are half the size of the carrier itself lol.
They weren't, these new ships effectively replace them. Unfortunately. T6 versions of the orion ships likely wont be happening now. "Fair thee well Corsair, I did love you so!"
However, the Dacoit might still be coming as a fleet T5U version, leaks have shown this might be a possibility.
Seeing some bigger pictures and looking at the ships in more detail I niehter like nor dislike how they look.
All the layouts and stats are good, traits are good, but not a single thing about any of them speaks to me in any way. Seems like it could go a long way to improving the support role though which is always a good thing and fits their theme well. Perhaps engs in cruisers have a reason to rejoice? But for a tac who prefer escorts and sci ships I can at least appreciate the potential free heals I'm about to receive at times.
Ugh, I am annoyed that Cryptic only reveals that the Kobali command cruiser's console makes a set with the other factions' consoles AFTER it's too late to start grinding Qmendations for those of us who weren't already planning on doing so. I had been planning to NOT grind for the ship, but now I find out about the set bonus . . .
Captain! We need you to inspect our latest ships designed by our Corps of Engineering. These Tier 6 Command Battlecruisers are built with the latest technology, giving Captains the ability to take control of the battlefield. Browse through our full lineup of Federation, KDF, and Romulan ships here:
Please make these available on Steam in the same way as Delta Rising and Legacy of Romulus. Steam's localized pricing hits the sweet spot for us guys in S.E. Asia. The 12000 zen/$120 pack for all 9 is just so hard to justify for digital goods, especially since it doesn't come with all of the other goodies that came with the two expansions.

I was under the impression that the Armitage was pretty much a FDC?
It's pretty nice that all of the variations share the same Starship Trait set, it helps keep the factions on equal footing as far as gameplay mechanics...
Then again, the synergy between Reciprocity and All Hands on Deck is a tad ridiculous... as is the ability to roll both with Emitter Synergy on one of three proper Science Ships with integrated Subsystem Targeting. The interactions between the Federation Starship Traits are truly a wonder to behold. Sadly, the KDF and Romulans still have little to no synergistic benefits amongst their available Starship Trait pool... Reciprocity really is a bane as far as balancing things, unless you go the route of cross-faction Starship Trait unlocks via a lockbox or whatnot.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.

good news they extended the event till march 2nd you have plenty of time.
I'm personally wish they would make the lt.coms universal, also wish they had lt intel

Sigh... I love Trek ships and Treknology. The ships are my favorite part of the game. The problem is, I'm out of room. Where do I put these new ships? I have reached the limit of ships slots a player can buy and don't want to permanently lose my Lobi, lock box, event and Fleet ships, since they can't be reclaimed.
Charles Gray recently said that adding more ship slots probably won't happen. There sems to be popular support for making ALL ships reclaimable or giving us the option to restore them to their boxed state (sort of mothballing them).
I sincerely hope this is something Cryptic addresses soon. We shouldn't have to throw away ships we've earned or paid for in order to BUY more ships. I'd love to give you more money, Cryptic, but there's no sense in buying these ships if it just means junking others.
Right.. but to be fair, the Nebula class looks far more like a cruiser then the other typically smaller sci ships. I guess what I was saying was that I was hoping for a science ship the size of a cruiser.

The KDF sciencecentric battlecruiser has a base turn of 8. The Sarr Theln has 7. This is slightly better but the Sarr Theln is pretty much don't move if you want your deflector on targets. The Long Range Science Vessel Retrofit (Cochrane/Intrepid) is 12, less than an escort but definitely not a cruiser. This ship is a cruiser, however, so this is to be expected. However. to call a ship a science ship that has only a Lt. Commander Science seat, and a Lieutenant Universal that could be used for a science seat and not even sensor analysis or subsystem attacks is simply putting a Lt Commander Science seat onto a cruiser. It's not a science ship. The KDF needs a dedicated T6 science, not a cruiser with a science seat in it.
This is a very nice sciency cruiser but it's not a science ship. I will stay with the Breen Carrier.
The good news is, 3 traits more for KDF and Roms. Feds still have the advantage with Reciprocity / Battle Ready - traits which are universally useful where KDF/Rom ones are situational - but it's a step in the right direction.
I will be buying the KDF 3-pack, which will provide a nice replacement for my much-beloved Bortas'qu.
Well, was thinking maybe the tactical one of these could replace my Fleet Avenger (T5-U).
Lets see...
LTC Tac - Pass
Can load dual cannons - Pass
Base turn rate 8 - FAIL.
Seeing as the avenger has to have its turn rate significantly buffed to be effective with cannons, an even slower ship won't work.
I also find it baffling that the intrepid sized avenger has a turn rate of 9, but the much larger eclipse has a turn rate of 10. Surely that should be the other way around??
I'm not gonna lie. The Fed Command Cruiser may be the ship that finally forces me out of my Tac Odyssey (which I've been in since I bought it back in S6). And I love my Oddy. I really do. I've stuck with it despite all the cruiser hate those years ago, and I've stuck with it despite all the new and shinies. I even upgraded it to T5U for DR. And it's continued to rock hard regardless.
But I've seen the stats on the Command Cruisers. And they blow away every previous fed cruiser hands down. There really is no comparison. I will grant you the Tac Oddy is still tankier than the Command cruisers (by a good 3k base hp, that comes down to about 6k after skills and gear), but in every other factor, it's either equal or inferior.
I will wait for the after action reports to come out on them, but at this rate, I fully expect them to be just as powerful as I think they are, if not even more so. The only weakness I can see is that they don't have the full array of cruiser commands, but that's a relatively easy thing to get past due to their hangars and 11 consoles and just overall very excellent stats.
A sad day indeed.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
Ships look good, Romulans the best and Klingon not too sure, but will grow on me.
So these are T6F ships (Like oddey was) with 11 consoles, and a hangar, pretty powerful.
I think though I prefer my T6 Intel ships more, Proper cruisers with cruiser commands, and the Guardian is simply the best cruiser for me, it has almost totally replaced my Oddey.
Proper Science vessel in the Scryer and Dauntless makes sci running awesome.
Proper Escort for Tact with the phantom.
The Faeht and Aeklahi are the best Romulan ships for me (Not a Scimitar flyer)
And don't get me started on the Qib and Mat'Ha, which are absolutely awesome.
I like the new ships, but not as much as the Intel ships, which are more specific for the roles, have better mechanics with Intel skills and gather Intel, look the part and hit hard.

This reminds me of a post last year where someone said the ships from the dyson pack seemed too science-centric for his liking..
