I am thinking the same thing. I've not said anything negative to Trendy. In fact, several times in game and on Twitter I have defended her. I am guessing someone told her to not associate with me.
Still, hopefully the new EP keeps coming through. I was happy with how quickly he responded to the dilithium weekend issue. I hope he keeps that up.
I wonder if they mistook you for one of the trolls that impersonate you?
Whatever the reason, it is not cool and if I could help I would. But you have my sympathy at least.
#1. This is a thread complaining about the lag issues. If you aren't experiencing any lag then why are you in this thread? Obviously your just a troll.
#2. I'm gonna go with advice I heard long ago; Never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience...You win.:D
Oh teach me your ways oh wise Internet guru...I've been a Network Admin for years...I stated in my post that a tracert reveals the same problem that MANY other people have complained about. So why don't you take your smart TRIBBLE comments and shove em where your head is apparently located.
So as a network engineer, you do know that tracert is like the kindergarten sandbox toy of network tools, it's not going to tell you where a network problem exists, just that there is some latency somewhere, not even where that latency actually is if it is transient. It might tell you that you are fine to point A but not to point B, making you think the problem is between point A and B,when in reality points A and B are talking fine, and your ISP just decided to place point B's network address in a lower QOS queue adding latency between you and both points, but giving you a false reading. What have you done on your end to mitigate network issues? We can suggest other things for you to try if you tell us what you have already tried on your local end.
As has been pointed out, the network problems you are experiencing are not pervasive, I have problems when most people do with outages, etc... but day to day the game response is excellent. So it would appear if your problem is constant, it is a problem with your network setup, not necessarily with the distant end.

Re-read the OP again kiddo... It's not just about the lag. It's the only thing I chose to respond to, as it's unjustified.

I never intended to win anything... I still don't... Just like you don't understand the internet.
IF I won on anything, it's the joy of upsetting some kid, who realized I did not fall for his "supposed" knowledge of the internet, when in truth he has none.
It's sad really...
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

3. Why doesn't Cryptic hire more staff to handle the maintenance of the game?
Probably for the same reason you don't hire more people to wash your dishes - it costs more money than it would be worth.
But maybe the real reason for them is some kind of network adminstration feng shui. if they add even one more to the team, they can't maintain perfect harmony anymore.

The game used to run fine for me up until the Anniversary stuff came out. Seems to me many others have had the problem starting around the same time. The main problem I see are the 7 hops I must take through the Cogentco network. Each hop through their network has an increasingly higher ping. If you would like more info from me to help myself and others let me know.
The game used to run fine for me up until the Anniversary stuff came out. Seems to me many others have had the problem starting around the same time. ...
Have you adjusted your MTUs to lower fragmentation? Also ensure your gateway device has a higher MTU setting than your NIC to account for it's overhead.
You probably have been having issues the entire time, but they weren't apparent to you until increased network traffic was pushed to your system from more people being in the maps.
Just call the anniversary event a stress test for your local connection.
really use a pistol for fastest rate of fire what are you talking about man some of us have paid millions of ec to get best weapons and u want us to use crappy little pistols. the ui problems should have been fixed a week ago in an EMERGENCY MAINTANIENCE PATCH the ui problem makes most of the game unplayable. only argala and system patrols seem to work lag free why?
Set you computer to be lower than the gateway. Might want to go down to around 1200 on computer and 1300 on gateway to allow for overhead as the packet traverses the network. Meh, make it 1350 and 1400.
Are you running Networx? If so, what is your bandwidth usage while in game. Should be pretty meager, somewhere around 8k-16k. If you don't have Networx, get it. If you are over that then look at what else is going on with your machine? Do you have programs running with autoupdating enabled? If so, shut it down.
Oh yeah, this bit me recently. What JAVA apps do you have running? I've found recently that JAVA hates, I mean HATES STO. If you have a JAVA app that interacts with your graphics it is going to throw a big ol' lag bomb in STO.
Also - I noticed memory usage has gone up a tick with the anniversary as well. Check your task manager and see where you are on memory. STO is going to want to hang out up towards a gig of memory. If your game is running below that with other stuff running and totaling over 85% memory usage then STO is probably doing a lot of swapping.
Oh teach me your ways oh wise Internet guru...I've been a Network Admin for years...I stated in my post that a tracert reveals the same problem that MANY other people have complained about. So why don't you take your smart TRIBBLE comments and shove em where your head is apparently located.
You do realize that I could claim I'm a super Navy SEAL Gundam Pilot with a harem and 12 PhDs and basically have provided the same level of proof you just did in your statement.
Right? So maybe you should ease back on the smart TRIBBLE retorts as well.
Please note that the team is aware of issues out of certain "across the pond" countries that are having network lag when hitting cogent.

Not up to the devs. That stuff is approved/denied by Cryptic/PWE upper management.
sumed up - upper managment decided that thir quality of live - buyn new ferraris from profis for them, are more important than quality of life of customers - players.
not smartest idea, but hey even if sto close down die to lack of palyers, thwy will simply work on another game and keep thier ferraris.
So basically Cryptic's response is "It isn't our fault" and blame the Internet Service Providers. I have contacted my ISP who says it isn't on their end. Now some people who have much more knowledge about the subject tell me that it might be JAVA, or it might be settings on someone else's server.
Look here is what I do know...prior to Anniversary it worked just fine. Now lag is so damn prevalent I cannot play this game.
CUSTOMER SERVICE means when something isn't working you do EVERYTHING humanly possible to fix the situation. Even "IF" you are not directly responsible for the problem. That means that your company bends over backwards to find the problem and notify the customer of it and what you intend to do about it. Customer Service is all about taking responsibility for the problem and finding a reasonable solution to it. Surely some of you remember the old saying if you TRIBBLE off your customers they will leave and tell ten others about how you treated them. That is how the real world works.
Stop blaming everybody else and do something to fix the problem.

Again, if it's an ISP issue (be it yours or a backbone along the way) there isn't anything they CAN do about it. They can't run a cable from their servers to your doors and they have been doing everything they can to fix the issue. Java wouldn't have any affect on it as none of the program uses it.

CUSTOMER SERVICE means when something isn't working you do EVERYTHING humanly possible ...
That would be a poor business model. Customer Service actually means providing the best service for the most customers as is cost effective. Cryptic is not AT&T, they don't have an army of techs standing by to troubleshoot your computer for you.
Also you have more than 2 ISPs between you and Cryptic. Run through the checks I posted earlier. As I pointed out to McCain. You probably have had issues before the Anniversary even, but they were masked by the fact there was less activity being pushed to your system.
Java wouldn't have any affect on it as none of the program uses it.
Have to counter you on that, Askray. I found that Java based programs that interact with the DX do hammer STO pretty hard (as they would any graphics based app). Java is hideous about resources and DX is not exempt from it.
There sure is not anything the cryptic devs could do about the cogentco thing. But considering that this issue does costs cryptic customers and companys like cogentco does not really speak to ants (aka the "common enduser") there is probably some hope that Cryptics non-devs (like legal department or whomever) could actually do something about it.

I would think it was probably related to the Saint Olivia bot that caused a ton of problems a while back. It didn't just happen in server, so you may want to get someone to mention it to Smirk or Trendy and get them to unblock you. As for Geko, it's probably a blessing in disguise
On the networking subject, I've noticed a fair bit of lag in MP instances only the last couple of days. Every PvE Queue I've run has been suffering bad lag, though it seems more related to time in game than network delay. Which leads me to think there's a memory leak or allocation issue of some kind occurring, seeing as it only happens when the client has been running for a few hours and I've gotten round to actually doing some Queue's.
Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."
Not much they can do, other than submitting tickets to the ISPs involved. Cryptic doesn't manage Cogent or any other ISP.
well, they can chose different isp or do you think it is just fortune/accident that when i conect to sto i using cognet but when i conetc to different mmo in us i have no problems at all ?
and it will be realy interesing if lawsuit by cryptic against cognet will be posible based on "cognet poor service makes your customers unhappy", i think it will be greatly interesing.
and before you say anything - there were lawsuit against cognet by another isp because cognet was just leeching on them.
Another day MORE LAG this is far from comical. Here is the crux of the problem.... Pre-Anniversary the game worked. Post Anniversary the game is full of memory leaks bugs and LAG. So did any of the ISP's on the internet suddenly change within the 24 hr period of the Anniversary? If not then the lag is Cryptic's fault.
Lag does not cause my bridge officers to mutiny and disappear.
Lag does not re-arrange the consoles on my ship.
Lag does not TRIBBLE with doff assignments.
Lag does not permanently remove doffs from my roster.
Lag does TRIBBLE ME OFF I have worked around the other garbage mentioned above. That said I cannot stop a 6 second delay in combat or stop myself from getting DC'ed when switching maps.
Perhaps the crew in Amsterdam should leave the cannibis alone and/or Cryptic should replace incompetent people.
Lag is still here folks.... the "Dust to Dust" mission part beneath the stars is still unplayable. Good thing I have a crack shot away team.
***TIP OF THE DAY***
You get what you pay for service wise.
For Instance: Internet Service Providers not all offer the same speed and some [cogent] do not seem to care because they offer the least expensive service and the worst service available.
If you know that a certain automaker has made a deathtrap recall laden car and you personally know that several people have had problems with that particular car why would you go buy it?
It was cheapest? Really? Now your cheap broke down piece of TRIBBLE is going to cost you by constantly being in the shop for repairs and causing you to miss work. Where is the value in that?
The lag is still insane. How long is this going to go on for? We were assured it would sort itself within 72 hours and hasn't. So what now? Or is this going to be another matter Cryptic just ignore and let their players suffer through?

Bingo!!!! We have a winner!!!! That's right you get all the lag you can handle until the Summer Event.....then you can get a double helping of LAG
