Oh teach me your ways oh wise Internet guru...I've been a Network Admin for years...I stated in my post that a tracert reveals the same problem that MANY other people have complained about. So why don't you take your smart TRIBBLE comments and shove em where your head is apparently located.
OK, I'll try, Mr. network admin.
1. When tracert shows that the ping increases at a particular hop - THAT hop, NOT the ones following it is the problem. - Thus the tracerts posted here DON'T blame Cryptic, they exonerate them by showing it's Cogent.
2. Cogent isn't a company who runs business networks, or game server farms - they are merely the folks who OWN and MANAGE almost all the trans-atlantic & trans-pacific cables - a VERY common choke point in international data
3. Why do I need to explain all this to a network administrator with years of experience again? (pst.... managing your wifi router doesn't make you a network administrator)
4. You obviously decided who was at fault before you ever started communicating, and no amount of pesky facts are going to convince you that issues with the trans-atlantic chokepoint are not cryptic's fault.
5. Lag does not cause my bridge officers to mutiny and disappear.
Lag does not re-arrange the consoles on my ship.
Lag does not TRIBBLE with doff assignments.
Lag does not permanently remove doffs from my roster.
These are legitimate issues that ARE cryptic/pwe's fault - let the castigation continue

I am not a techie or computer savvy enough to give an opinion on what causes the LAG. I only know there is still UI lag and it is affecting my gameplay. What is truly frustrating is I have a game card with over 2 gigs of memory just specifically for handling a video game. Normally I run problem free. Ever since the Anniversary patch the game has become completely and totally unplayable. Cryptic has messed with the UI latency and acts like we are stupid for blaming them. Thus we have the title of my original post. Can anyone here speak to the UI problem and offer advice on any workarounds or are we just simply stuck waiting on Cryptic to get around to doing something about it?
At peak periods on the servers, there is a significant amount of gameplay interruptions. Calling it lag is a misnomer, it's the result of a number coding changes and patches designed to improve our experience.
1.) It's not the developers fault, AND they're not doing it on purpose.
Changes tested internally and on Tribble may not work on Holodeck with volume of players. In some cases it's touch and go, part experimentation and feedback from us.
2.) Changes to the UI are at the core of the problems today.
My biggest beef is that depending on server volume, my hud greys out every 2-3 seconds for 1-2 seconds. This is worse than the response time on clicking a HUD control we had last week.
At the same time, the response time in high-traffic STF's (CCA for example) for the HUD is ridiculously slow. Which leads us to:
3.) For many of us, the client is crashing to the desktop at least 1x per day.
There are issues. It's not the devs fault. Relax. They are working on it.
No mention of the UI, lag, or disconnects in the patch notes. Known issues do not exist if you keep your eyes closed and your hands over your ears. That might work for a 3yr old but not in the STO community.
The frustration level keeps rising because we know that you know about the problems and yet do nothing to fix them. Instead you seem to be hell bent on fixing some uniform of a zombie race. S L O W C L A P
This korean style grind fest is exactly why I don't play World of ******** where every 90 days your best gear gets trashed for some new uber shiny stuff. If this is to become the fate of Startrekonline then expect the doors to close. See many players out here don't want to have to pay again for something they already earned and had taken away. Only to see it rebranded as a new grind.
The other thing I do not understand whoever suggested we needed to have all the icons re branded should be terminated immediately. We have serious issues going on and that person somehow managed to convince the company to waste time and resources to TRIBBLE off more players? Really? It seems to me that this could possibly be the source of the UI lag and sudden number of disconnections. The timing of the problems and the coincidental Anniversary cannot be ignored.
I feel like the Devs are giving the players discommendation and turning thier backs on us.
Lovely, login in get past the loading screen of death and boom. My progress on reputation projects has been rolled back for some yet unknown reason. Chat has been disabled, LAG has not been dealt with much less UI latency. Hey at least I got to complete a STF before getting disconnected this time.
As someone who does not play with MACROS this really bites...... powers grayed out and don't respond in time if at all. You guys really expect us to give you more money and you can't keep the game running?
5. This would be detrimental to lock box sales, and CRYPTIC's "repeatable" content.
No, actually it's just that coding time spent developing fancy features for the Foundry is time not spent making fancy new dilithium sinks and lockbox ship powers (and, y'know, actual CONTENT - though it seems that relatively speaking not much time is spent on that either) for the main game. Furthermore, the Foundry is an old system, with old code that the current devs might not even entirely know how to work with.
As this is a technical support forum and not the place for rants, flinging poo at the Devs, and flaming each other, I am closing the thread.
If you are experiencing lag, there are other threads that discuss diagnosing the cause. Or, feel free to post the problem you are experiencing and ask for help.

Too bad "Leornard Nimoy" or his attorneys don't peruse the forums.
