You haven't played ED at all then, farming is way less then in STO. You only farm credits which you get rewarded for everything you do and you earn credits pretty fast and not that time consumming. Ye farming is in every game but STO is since Legacy of Romulus a big farming game now, it's more work then just having fun and the DR content ran out within a week. All you see now is people in Argala endless farming spec experience to get their spec points to fill in their trees. Pppfff is that the way STO wants to go? Very boring and not to mention the dil costs in the game since DR is ridiculous.
Really, I don't mind doing a bit of work to accomplish something but for a f2p game, STO has reach a very deep low. The queues for PvE and PvP are pretty low, long waiting time to finally doing something, a lot of people have quit the game since DR came out. Should ring some bells there at PWE.
No wonder people exploit massively in this game.
I have the Dyson ship event still to do from last year. If I put in the qmendations from this year, will it unlock?

If it follows "usual practice" (and isn't buggy) then if you started the event reputation project for the Dyson already, you can contribute the newly-earned Q-mendations to it and finish that project. Once you've done that and claimed the Dyson, you can start the project for this year's ship.
If you don't have the rep project for the Dyson already started, you're out of luck. AFAIK you have to start the project during the event.

Still, it's T6 and 1st ship i saw with 11 consoles.
I can't say anything about fleet ships, because i do not have any,
but the Samsar should outclass anything that's not a fleet ship or dreadnought from 3-pack

You don't expect things that are "free" to come out without work do you? I mean this is an ideal ship.
Besides, people aren't asking you to do all of those things.
One more thing about your upgrade problem? If you do the "farm" (which takes less than 10 minutes that even a 7 year old could do) you get peices for a very darn good upgrade kit.
Like I said on a different reply, I don't mind doing some work to accomplish something but we just came out of Winterland doing that aweful race each day gets boring fast and now we have to do it all again for this ship, don't call it free then. Ye you can choose not to, sure still leaves you with all the other farming stuff you probably would need to do if you want to progress further in this game. It's great Cryptic adds more to the game giving you different opportunities but to accomplish most of them is very, very time consuming, a lot of farming which led to even more players quit this game. How far does PWE want to drag the leftovers to work as drones?
Just saying less farm, less dill costs, more content not just 3 new queues each expansion and you probably attract more players and getting old players back in the game.
that LT Commander slot is a Hybrid model so you can use the new command powers in that slot rather than Engineering powers so i think they heard ya
Even so iam not Sure how those new Command Powers will be, i still dont think they can Replace things like BFAWIII / APB / and/or Tactical Team, TSIII, THYIII and so on, the LT could be the Command Hybrid Station, but the LT Commander station should be a Universal OR just make it a LT Commander Command / Universal Station instead of a Command /Engineering, this one Station is what makes a Ship Versatile, if i Put a Tac Boff in it, i can fly it Tac Focused, if i Put a Science in it, i can Fly it Science Focused, and if i Put a Engineer in it, i can Fly that thing even Tankier. Making it a Fixed Engineering Station makes it Useless for People who want to fly a Ship more Science / Tac Focused, and thats a SHAME. An Anniversary Ship that is Supposed to be a "Gift" (well yea with some Grinding) to all Loyal Players should also Appeal to ALL Players, and not just a Portion of them.....i dont get what the Problem is, by Just making it a LT Commander Command / Universal, will that hurt someone??

All for one simple thing... the tactical conversion timeout/CD.
In the case where I am in a heated battle in tactical mode and die, then respawn in science mode... I can't really say I have much of an opinion on that. I don't mind CD then (at least, not too much) or when I switch it back myself. Though, it would be nice to spawn me in tactical mode if I died in tactical mode?
But in the case where it story shuffles me to a new area and drops me in the middle of a battle, in science mode with the CD for switching because I was in tactical mode before the map change... that's seriously annoying. By itself, there's no CD for simply warping into a new area (like from sector space). It just drives me batty.
As for the Kobali ship for this year... I'm not much of a group player, definitely no good at support (but love to flank enemies)... so it probably won't mesh well with my play style either... oh well. If nothing else... it'll be my first t6 ship. yay?

It's exactly the same grind as last year... one character gets 400 on the featured episode then grinds the remaining 600... any additional characters just need 40 per character.
Is it really that much of a "grind" for 600 over the course of (effectively) a month? That's about 21-22 points per day.
Kobali starships are known for their exceptional ability to provide support to their allies in large scale starship combat. The Samsar Cruiser is a durable Kobali Tier 6 cruiser we're giving out during our anniversary event that was outfitted to fill the role of a mobile command center.
Your not giving us anything except the means to earn the ship through a grind, its not free, we have to spend time and effort to get this. People seem to ignore this fact and well as the old saying goes time = money.
This is not meant to be an ungrateful attack, just sayin' ^^
I really do like the design of this ship it is indeed beautiful work and I will be getting it for 2 of my toons.
That being said I probably won't give this ship much combat time due to the boff layout of it, would of been nice to have the command boff as a commander level seat.
At least we will get to experience some of the potential of these new command ships without having to actually pay money for it which is a good thing.
Hmmm well I decided to not rant on about the addition and useful role of command ships in this game in its current state, soo...
First of all, i have to Say that the Design is very well done, the Moment i saw it, i wanted it :eek:, than i had a look at the Stats and.....was Dissaponted .....Commander Engineering OK, its a Cruiser, LT Commander Engineering...why? why not a Universal so everyone can Choose how to Fly it? Players who want to Fly it as a Tank can put another Engineering Boff in there, players like me who like to Fly their Ships more offensive could put a Tactical in there, since this is a Beam Boat, being able to use FAWIII, Beta1 and at least 1 Tac Team 1 would be AWESOME, but by Restricting it like this, you are making a Great looking Ship, unapealing to at least half or a Major Part of the Players, and that is a BIG SHAME. Why not give the Players the Option to choose how to Fly it? Most of the Ships in the Delta Pack have a Lt Com Tac, in this Case just making the Lt Com a Universal would make everyone happy. I Really want to Fly this Ships, but this Layout is a No-Go for me and everyone who likes to Fly Tactical like me, therefore.
I think its because a tactical ship doesn't fit the storyline of the Kobali. They are peace loving/spiritual people and have only been forced to be aggressive because of the war. The recent story blog explains they do not want to be like the alliance members and prefer to keep their peaceful nature.
I can only assume this is why the ship is slanted to a support/defense setup.

I loved the Dyson ship when I first got it... a fairly powerful and FREE ship... but after playing for some time... I simply got frustrated.
not saying this transformer mechanics were any good, but for the first time a ship wasn't just escort/cruiser/science in a new wrapping, but something different, I'd expect end game stuff to be little different and customisable as end-game players are usually experienced and know exactly what thet need to play as they like
but it seems someone "who knows better" says - a cruiser plain and same as first cruiser you got, just little buffed and wrapped in visuals, what a diversity
So let me see here FED, ROM, KDF each one can get this ship just by doing the required missions and talking to Q in this event for 2015. Okay. Sounds fair enough! This new T6 Cruiser looks great 4/4 weapons *8 some other cool features. Is Captain Smirk going to do a Live-Stream to show-off how this handles in space battle any time soon?

For some of us it will be far less. I got the 400 Q bundle on everyone last year, but only certain characters got the ships. Thus I have several characters who are sitting on 400+ Q, just waiting for the event to start.

The ship is beautiful and sleek, like something out of the aliens movies. I will be getting it for my kdf, fed, and kdf/rommie engies. Well done devs. For all of you whining about it, most cstore ships don't even come with a unique bridge so consider yourselves lucky this one came with it.

Look at its Design....thats not a "Ambassador" Support Cruiser Design, or any other "Peacefull" looking Design...like someone allready Mentioned this is a Agressive Looking "Predator" Design, yet the Layout is not Resembling that, and other than that, again as a Anniversary "Free Ship for ALL" (with Grinding) it should at least try to appeal to ALL, and changing the Lt Commander Command / Engineering to a Lt Commander Command / UNIVERSAL will exactly achieve THIS, its not like you are giving it another Tac Console Slot, or a +15 to Weapons Bonus, just a slightly Change, so it works for everyone...cant be to much to ask for right?

So basically do this on mission on all your characters once. Then pick a character to do daily until you have 1000. Once you turn in the other character's events will then switch to 40 commendations? Is that how it's going to work or will we have to bang it out first, then add the event to the other characters once we finish it?
I suppose you can do this initially and get your 400 commendations but do not slot the event or apply them to the slotted event until AFTER you finish it on one character.

While I agree to do this when the winter event was going on I had 100/1000 qmendations toward the tier 6 on an alt and when they finally got the discount working it it changed to 100/40 which was really cool. I mean i knew i could have just reset it but they thought of this particular problem it seems.
