It would be nice if they would actually let us know what the issue was and why they keep extending the maintenance.

They are way to busy RPing for that. Maybe it's a sign as to who they do cater to?

As we all wait, I imagine they are making sure the patch is RIGHT/RIGHT/RIGHT !

I imagine failure today on the ship issue = Pink slips to programmers tomorrow.

Because they have to keep their 'bait' to get peeps to their convention booth and livestreams. If you could buy it, you wouldn't need 'them'.

Hasn't it just turned 1200 a few minutes ago over there?

A minute past is nothing to make this much fuzz over?
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

Fifteen pages of "I hate this game", "Cryptic/PWE sucks", "These guys are stupid", "Why am *I* being inconvenienced by a company trying to fix the very bugs I whined and complained about yesterday?!?"... Fifteen full pages of it. Seriously, if your STO experience is so bad, why are you guys here?

guess you missed my first post thanking the devs...

    It's now saying 1:30pm which equates to 9:30 UK:rolleyes:

So based on that I will have just enough time to set DOFF and R&D missions running:mad:

    Rant.....:P

You don't pay for access to the game. None of us do.

Your cable provider sends you free stuff because they have a CONTRACT with you to provide a consistent service. Cryptic/PWE have NO such contract with us, the players, and having spent money on in-game items doesn't give us special rights or priviliges.

That's certainly one way to interpret that.

Now 4:30? Why dont they just take the damn game down for the rest of the day then at this point for christ sake. The 1 day I actually want to play and feel like dealing with Delta Rising is the one they decide to tinker with it all day. Gawd,.

    hate to say it

but if they are working on it and not TRIBBLE off, ok fine, good luck & no one likes a half baked cake

    ****e happens

I know, it's happening more in sto, and that sux too, but what are we going to do? The thing is the thing (meaning, we aren't in control) until ... whenever or something.

    enjoy the time off

EDIT: and when it's up, it's going to be dodgy, so best take the night off (players, players take the night off, not devs/support, heh)

If your cable technician needed to come to your home several times in the last month and was repeatedly late, I'm sure you wouldn't find that acceptable. Then, he arrives two and a half hours late and only tells you it was because the warp core in his vehicle was giving him trouble, that would seem reasonable? Not in my world.

When my cable provider is late, they give you a discount on services. If it happens repeatedly, they give a larger discount. They certainly apologize.

Thing is, does your cable provider have in their Terms Of Service stating that they're not responsible for outages, both planned and unplanned, and will provide no compensation for such?

My apologies then for assuming you were one of those that complain for the sake of complaining whenever there's any server downtime.

Well... in all fairness if it's not part of an announced maintenance I kinda do. And clearly if it's a maintenance that runs over I'm not quiet either LOL. I suppose I could be more restrained ;)

Yup. It's us Europeans who suffer the most every maintenance as it's always during early evening. Cryptic says 'it's the quietest time'. Just makes me laugh when people complain when it's done at 8am in their country! Oh well, least I can have more tea and crumpets. ROFL!!

It isn't 'maintenance', trendy keeps saying warp core checks. Maybe the network guys are too trapped in their RP world to actually get the hamster wheel rotating again. I sure would appreciate a little more professional updates that some RP fantasy explaining why I'm wasting my time doing other things than watching the launcher try to load the game.

    THIS!^^^^

I find it insulting that they or whomever is hiding behind cutsie language like that, give us and yourselves honor by giving some at least partial honesty. "Your satisfaction is important to us and we want to give you the a decent update seeing is how we hadn't given you an update in about a month", "Things took longer than we expected while patching the servers so sorry to have to tell you there has been another delay, you'll be playing in shortly."

If STO staff were a lot more direct with their estimated server down times, there would be a lot less bellyaching.

If they just said, "We're gonna take the servers down for about 7 hours to do maintenance" then no harm no foul...I think where people get frustrated is the constant backpeddling and revising of downtime estimates.

In this case, it helps to err on the side of caution and tell people the server will be down for a long stretch of time...and then if maintenance is done earlier, it's seen as a good thing.

"Warpcore", might refer to server issues... actually, i would bet my pixel hat on it ;)

Maintenance, is a need in any aspect of life....
your car, your TV, your house, even your body, needs maintenance here and there...
Imagine the amount of time youll be spending to go for checkups, if you got a new hip implant O.O

It is no different with interweb games.... This "operation" theyre performing today, seems to have run into some complications... Happens... even happens easier for a game than for a car, thanks to all the tihngs that can go wrong by simply placing the wrong "," on the wrong spot on the screen...

Compensation... Yeah, sounds reasonable, and it WOULD send a message from Cryptic, that theyre saying "Hey folks, something went south, so it took longer to make it work propperly..."
Indeed, nobody asks for huge amounts of compensation that would have a gameplay-altering impact. However, to look good, sending the entire playerbase, 100 Dil, would be a really welcomed handout, and also be of little, if any, practical use.
Plus, it never hurts to go into "public relations" with the players who play the game, in a positive way :)

Do i personally need compensation ?
    Nope, not really.

    Do others need compensation ?
Maybe, i dont really care LOL

Just my two cents on the matter :)

Considering that this IS their forum, and the fact that the launcher directs us to this lovely place...This is absolutely the first place information should be posted.
