First, no mention of the Breen warp core?

Was listed yesterday with the other event rewards...

Hmm looks like it'll be replacing my carrier specialists' Kar'fi. Good trait though, and imagine combining that trait with the traits from the Guardian and Dauntless Fed-side. Two questions though:

First, no mention of the Breen warp core?

Second, the Plesh Brek pets don't have tractor beams? Thats like the main ability the NPC ones use.

Or the lame fact, that the elite fighters lose a cannon for a turret & tachyon beam!

All I have to say is Another T6 Science ship? Sure it might be fine for our Rom and KFD friends but as a Fed all I can say is I am getting tired of them.

I LOVE the new design. It looks way more Breen than the old, and it's a logical step up from the Chel Grett. I look forward to seeing what they do with the Rezreth next year! :)

One question: will we have the option to remove the USS/IKS/RRW registry?
I would guess so. The other non-faction ships already do. we might even get a special Breen registry this time(like the RXS for Risian ships)

Wow some cool looking items to collect like yeti. The ship I still like to see what they have in mind? They have Kazon Heavy Raider but only T5 with upgrade it's a T5-U. Nice ship to use but limited 4/weapons up front and 2 in the rear. Of course if this has it too okay but the Kazon HR has 3x Universal BOF slots and a nice bridge to go with it. Of course you can't visit anyone DOF on the ship. Does this ship has own bridge too.

Well Livestream tonight then for me! I am be really. See you all there! :D

SO i was always taking a break from sto during winter events and missed all the ships but not this year. I was wondering I have 3 characters if I run the event on each one for a different breen ship will i then be able to get the discount for each one on the other 2? thereby giving me all 3 breen ships on each of my 3 characters?

The discount works exactly like the Summer Event or current Winter Event discount, granting an account discount to 40 Q-Pics once one character spends the 1000 Q-Pics to buy one of the ships... you'll need to do the full run on 3 characters, with two additional laps for each once you have unlocked the discounts. It's a really great feature as it benefits both long-term players with multiple alts and new players that may have missed prior Events. That sort of design should be applied to more aspects of the game, if possible... but that may be overly optimistic. :D

Yup, get 1080 Q pics on all three of your characters = all three winter event ships on all your characters.

The discount, if it works exactly like (rather than merely being "similar to") the Summer Event or current Winter Event discount, will let you do that... you'll need to do the full run on 3 characters, with two additional laps for each once you have unlocked the discounts. It's a really great feature as it benefits both long-term players with multiple alts and new players that may have missed prior Events. That sort of design should be applied to more aspects of the game, if possible... but that may be overly optimistic. :D

Thankfully the price (1000 pre-discount, 40 Q-pics post discount) is confirmed in the blog. So it's the same, not just similar as has been posted before.

In other words, yes, you can get all three ships by doing 27 daily races on each of three chars.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

It's listed as a pulse cannon in the blog; IIRC pulse cannons just fire one shot per salvo, so a turret is indeed a significant upgrade.

Also I shall echo the desire to have the old Sarr Theln as an option for customisation; I don't even ask for kitbashing or a new model, simply a "hull - New Sarr Theln" and "hull - Old Sarr Theln" option. I'm curious which would be more popular.

Don't think they do, Bluegeek - at least, my Ferasa's BoP Hanger Pets never did. I think it's because the game registers them as 'Hanger Pets - Frigates', not as 'Raiders'.

Gotta agree that I'm not too sure about the new look for the Sarr Theln - I was actually hoping for the 'classic' look since it fits said Ferasan better. (He flies a carrier, but his old Mirror Vo'quv was starting to get outmatched and I'm not sure I like the looks of the Kar'fi). Too bad that the 'Classic' Sarr Theln wouldn't be available as an alternate skin for the '2014' Sarr Theln... Speaking of, is it just me or does the news post seem to imply that the Bloth Choas and Plesh Brek hanger pets have been given new looks as well?

If my impression is correct, the pictures are swapped in the blog. Plesh Brek in Blesh Chaos description and vice versa.

The Plesh Brek in the blog is definitely not the Plesh Brek. At least, not the playable one. Whatever they have there looks more like a revamped Bleth Chaos [or whatever, it's a mouthful of Breen nonsense anyway].

Is it an assumption that the cryo-plasma infused warp/singularity cores and the kit modules are available for sale at the ferengi holiday vendor for trading in ornaments and stuff?

It doesn't say that specifically anywhere, does it?

How much a grind is it to rack up A bunch of holiday junk to buy stuff from the vendor?
How much junk do i get per gingerbread man village PvE for example? I want like five things from him.

What is this ongoing fascination with giving players ships from hostile factions?

Flying an enemy ship temporarily for a special mission is one thing. On an ongoing basis? Just no.

It's like completing a mission in a WWII game and getting a +5 SS Uniform of Bullet Resistance for a reward.
@Venture-1. @Venture from City of Heroes if you remember that. Yes, that Venture. Yes, I probably trashed your MA arc. You'll have to be specific; for me it was Tuesday.

    Another question......

Are the frosted boots permanent or consumable?
The STOWiki has the listed under consumable but the description reads "indefinite". Tell me if there's any expiration and I won't get them.

    Thanks.

This carrier, that can launch frigates, might actually get me to abandon my Vesta... if I can get over losing the Aux Cannons. Which I probably can't. Because, Aux Cannons.

And yes you should be able to continue the Project from last year because the 8x10 glossys are the same consumable from previous years.

    Greetings fair Mortals!

It is I, the omnipotent bringer of joy, Q, and this year I am so pleased to present to you the return of my wonderful Winter Event and all its treasures.

It's time to be festive and to celebrate! You are formally invited to join me in my fabulous Winter Wonderland! I have it all - your favorite games and activities are back along with me! We have snowball fights, races, gingerbread warfare, pie eating, and even assimilated snowmen! Come join me starting this Thursday (12/4) as we kick off the festivities.

It's so hard to believe that one of your year has gone by, as time as you know it means nothing to the Q. Which of course you may well have heard from those blessed enough to have encountered my glorious presence before.

For those that haven't enjoyed my parties before, well your paltry existences have just improved immeasurably! Over the next three short days, you will learn more about my winter extravaganza for all it's glitter and pomp, as well as the new dangers that await you.

From Winter Events past you should be ready with your cold weather gear as you mortals call it. I know many of you already have your Frosted Boots, and it thrills me to know how many of you wear them outside of my glorious winter wonderland as you race at speeds never meant for desert terrain, or your shiny new Earth Space Dock. Make sure to bundle up in the latest winter fashions with colorful scarves and winter jackets as well. I would hate to think of sending any of you to sickbay to deal with those meddlesome doctors you are so fond of.

Make sure to arm yourselves with the best in winter weaponry, as you will need it against an all new foe I have concocted to test your strengths. I do so find it amusing to see my favorite toys enjoying this most joyous of seasons together.

Make sure to stop by for pie and treats, and save those ornaments for more goodies this year!

Keep a watchful eye for the upcoming blogs that will bring you all the details you mortals are so feverish for.

We'll be posting new pictures of my amazing party in our official media section here, so be sure to keep your eyes on it!

Starting today! Make certain you to stay tuned for tomorrow, as we show off the great rewards you can snag during the festivities!

Actually, it's fairly historically accurate. Throughout history, armies have often used the weapons of defeated opponents; whether to reduce the consumption of their own resources, for a 'special mission' as you phrased it, or simply because they needed to fill out numbers and that was the only equipment they had to do it with. Look at the history of World War II itself - during his North Africa Campaign, General-Feldmarschell Rommel was known for using captured British tanks and other vehicles; during the Allied European Campaign two years later, at one point some thirty percent of the weapons used by the United States Third Army were captured from the German; even in 1938, the British bombed and sank the French fleet at Oran to prevent the Germans from adding those ships to the Kriegsmarine and using them against the British and Free French.

Because if they're going to the trouble of designing interesting new ships for enemy factions, they want a surefire way of making money off it. That can come in the form of a lockbox, or bringing people into the game so they can spend time earning the "free" ship.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

Likewise. Would it be too much to ask to get whoever's in charge of ship design to say something regarding this, or at least consider actually adding the option?

In the case of a Galor, it really isn't an enemy ship anymore. Galors are only enemies if the True Way are flying them. My main toon that has one is a Cardassian Defense Force exchange officer, so it makes sense for him to have it so that sometimes he can have his BOFFs serve as exchange officers in the CDF and not always have him as the exchange officer.

For my Undine ship...there is a bit of a suspension of disbelief involved there, though in the story I am writing with my other character, he does actually board the ship briefly as part of an intelligence-gathering mission. As Starfleet's only Devidian, he is well suited for intel work with that particular ship because he comes closest to the Undine's power profile without actually being an Undine, and also having had experience with similar biotech in the form of the Ophidian Cane (which he does NOT use to drain people), he is a logical choice to send on such a mission. In-story he continues to captain a normal Phoenix-class escort, but in-game I do use the Dromias as his main combat ship.

So flying these ships does not make my toons Space TRIBBLE.

(And honestly, if you want to go there historically, my Cardassian toon was Space Widerstand--i.e. German Resistance.)
