In the case of a Galor, it really isn't an enemy ship anymore. Galors are only enemies if the True Way are flying them. My main toon that has one is a Cardassian Defense Force exchange officer, so it makes sense for him to have it so that sometimes he can have his BOFFs serve as exchange officers in the CDF and not always have him as the exchange officer.

For my Undine ship...there is a bit of a suspension of disbelief involved there, though in the story I am writing with my other character, he does actually board the ship briefly as part of an intelligence-gathering mission. As Starfleet's only Devidian, he is well suited for intel work with that particular ship because he comes closest to the Undine's power profile without actually being an Undine, and also having had experience with similar biotech in the form of the Ophidian Cane (which he does NOT use to drain people), he is a logical choice to send on such a mission. In-story he continues to captain a normal Phoenix-class escort, but in-game I do use the Dromias as his main combat ship.

So flying these ships does not make my toons Space TRIBBLE.

(And honestly, if you want to go there historically, my Cardassian toon was Space Widerstand--i.e. German Resistance.)

I did a little something myself for my Lethean character's Nicor. Basically, he's a merc for the KDF, made a living largely by tracking down suspected Undine infiltrators and slaying them if they turned out to be just that: those "almost always fatal" telepathic attacks have to be good for something right? Either way, at some point, he and his crew (also all Lethean) managed to ambush one, cripple it and kill its pilot. They then mentally attacked the ship's neural system and basically telepathically forced it into subservience. From there, they've been utilizing it to spy on the Undine and perform intelligence ops for Counter Command.

Other ships are -far- easier to explain away. Usually involves a salvage op. and a Transponder refit.

Is it an assumption that the cryo-plasma infused warp/singularity cores and the kit modules are available for sale at the ferengi holiday vendor for trading in ornaments and stuff?

It doesn't say that specifically anywhere, does it?

How much a grind is it to rack up A bunch of holiday junk to buy stuff from the vendor?
How much junk do i get per gingerbread man village PvE for example? I want like five things from him.
You'll need a lot for everything.

IIRC outfit boxes(including knit hats, scarfs and jackets) are 15 of each common and 8 of each uncommon.

I'm not 100% sure but IIRC the kit modules are 15 of each common with no uncommons needed.

the core is the most expensive item at 50/15.

Oh and the Breen aren't a hostile faction. SOME Breen are hostile, but the majority aren't.

I, for one, love the new design of the Sarr Thein! When I saw the hologram, I thought it looked crappy, but seeing it now makes sense. It resembles the Breen more, and looks more accommodating to the Plesh Brek than the old model.

Never piloted a carrier should be good and I also have the raider on my KDF alt so guess I can use those fighter pets while I lvl up this Tier 6 until I get the kdf raider and until the roms get a decent tier 6 ship

Actually, it's fairly historically accurate. Throughout history, armies have often used the weapons of defeated opponents; whether to reduce the consumption of their own resources, for a 'special mission' as you phrased it, or simply because they needed to fill out numbers and that was the only equipment they had to do it with.

There is no such reason here. In fact, your character gets his own command at the game's start because the relevant fleet is producing ships faster than they can produce qualified personnel to man them.

An argument might be made that for the Romulan Republic using whatever they can get their hands on, but it's also doubtful that they'd have the technical capacity to get such ships running again and keep them that way.
@Venture-1. @Venture from City of Heroes if you remember that. Yes, that Venture. Yes, I probably trashed your MA arc. You'll have to be specific; for me it was Tuesday.

Knitted hats are available this year! It was on the livestream with smirk but, the warpcore's seem a bit pricey ( a bit but not to much ).

Looks like I get to skip this grind.

While we have come to expect that free ships will be weaker than bought ships, this one really takes the cake! Wow.

    - a tactical themed carrier with 3/3 weapons? When there are multiple 4/3 tactical carriers out there? That *might* have been ok if it had good pets available to everyone that made up for the missing gun, but...

    - to have decent pets you have to have been playing long enough to have earned the other ship and bothered to get it. Why do this to new players, the folks that could MOST use a free ship? If fighters were not so weak, that would be kind of ok, but the difference between fighters and frigates is extreme ... to the point that fighters are borderline useless (die too much) while frigates tend to live forever in most content.

the ship is cool looking, and conceptually pretty nice, just gimped into uselessness by design, esp for those of us who did not want the other ship (and still do not) that unlocks the pets.

It's a fleet T6 - in the top 3 ships in the game at least by title.

Why can you not unlock the frigates? Do them on one character and the carrier on another - tada.

A lot of thought gone into the Summer Event 2014 prize more Risan Luxury Cruiser 4/4 weapons (8), 5 devices, 5 engineering consoles, 2 science and 4 tactical. With the Breen Science Carrier 3/3 weapons (6) 4 devices, 3 engineering consoles, 4 science consoles and 4 tactical. This one has it's own bridge, 2 hangar bay an a couple other features in all not bad the only weakness is the 2 less weapons and turn ratio is slower. RCS 40% VRP would be needed or some other console to beef up the turning ratio. T5-U vs T6 for more bang ading universal slot and intel slot for our Delta Rising Intel VRP BOF award mission.

Breen battleship Science Carrier is more of what we're getting here. Going to be a huge vessel. But to make it nibble would be the goal to use it more.

So now after watching the entire live stream that ran late here, but in all got to see what the Winter Wonderland Event 2014 has in store for my 3 factions. Should be interesting. I am designing I guess non-uniforms to blend into the snowy theme. Science you have evil snowmen and borg evil snowmen and huge borg queen to deal with. I hope all goes well without issues.

But I am looking forward to this event today... Thanks to all who have provided us this new task to grind away at. I'll be grinding again! Break time is over! :D

It's... it has a Commander Sci, not Tac, IIRC? Yeah it leans tactically for one but it's primarily a sci carrier, as I understand them. Even has Subsystem Targeting. Seems in line with other similar carriers...

As I said, it makes it extra frustrating for any new players to earn. I certainly can get them, but it increases my grinding for something that should be part of the package. I should not have to unlock a ship I do not want to get a pet (same is true of the JHAS).

There are no t6 fleet to compare it to yet.
And top 3 in the game? At *what*?! T5u scim, maha raptor, rom intel ship, and fed escort, the lockbox cruiser all have it beat at dps, just comparing stats.

Yeah, I know a lot of people like the winter raider. For me it is just too fragile. I think the first 2 summer ships are much stronger than the first 2 winter ships. I flew the winter warship for about 6 months or more before getting the Vesta and realizing it had been garbage all along! I have one character that flies the love boat and it's perfectly fine though.

It looks to me that if you were brand new and only have 1 character youd have to spend appx 300 lobi on Q pictures to manage both this year - appx 40 days = 1600 pics. Of course if you are insane and manage the 20 hour cooldown perfecltly I guess that goes down under 100 lobi. But easier to just make a level 11 character to help.

I'm basically just impressed it's T6 fleet level. And I suspect my KDF will fly it as main ship as she has no access to any ships for traits besides this.

What I am failing to understand (from a player's viewpoint - I have a good idea as to what a business justification would be, and that seems to be all the rage these days...) is why Lieutenant Eng/Int instead of Sci/Int, meaning we need to get a new bridge officer to make use of the intel abilities.

Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.p3OEBPD6HU3QI.jpg

Ah, I misread it. It *does* have a cmdr sci slot. That is much better!
I withdraw the weapon/tactical complaint, but still not keen on double grinding to get the complete package.

I may do it though. The lack of sci ships makes me go for them whenever one comes around, just because there isn't anything else.

I have the same complaint with the Voyager. Both the carrier and Intrepid have the eng/intel hybrid just after they gave us the sci/intel hybrid officer. Kind of cruel. It seems one has to get the Talaxian officer for 300 lobi to use intel? If so give us an episode replay guys. We usually get one in late october early nov, but not this year.

Looks like I've found the perfect Christmas Present for my Orion Alt :) Had it using the freebie Obelisk until Delta launched, and I already picked up the Raider last year.

Seems like a cool ship :P

You can also just grab a common Intel officer for like, 300 dil or so from Boff vendors and train them up with Intel skills at the Boff trainer. Not like you can slot anything he can't train into a Lt seat anyway.

I am really excited for the winter event!

Does anyone know if the daily run for the ship has to be done on every toon every day? Or will there be a discount on alts after you get all the Q pics on one toon? Sorry if this was answered already, don't have the patience to look though 30+ pages.

From the livestream i saw all the npc's are still fraking loud!!

To answer your question thomasp94232, the discount still works the same as before, it will even work for the carrier ( as long as one toon unlocks it first ).

I know what this answer to this *should* be, but it's Cryptic so.....
Are the unlocks retroactive? Already having the two ships on one toon do I need to regrind to unlock them?

A player with 3 characters could get all the ships for all their characters in 27 days or less, depending on their free time.

so we only have to wait till your maintance is over ... and so long Q is alone or what

Like in Sommer Event you need to run it one Time for 40 Q Pictures on the other Cpt if your 1. already has the old or new Ship

maybe if you have them already at T5-U there is a Bug and it dont works we will see

Twitter says we can play but we cant. And Maintance should still run 20 min till 18:30 in my timezone.
18 Cpt on the way to 60: 14 of them are already 50 or over 50, one is 60 and 3 almost 43
