So with all the problems introduced with DR you decide that the most productive thing you can spend your time doing is changing xp numbers in such a way to have zero impact on anything.
Missed a slight, but key piece of info, the fact that they are raising the skill points needed to level, lol
Oh I'm very aware of that, see my earlier posts in this thread. I was pointing out that the patch notes left that part out. So it adds to the confusion of that PWEnglish OP.
Join date is wrong, I've actually been around since STO Beta.
True alters don't have a "main". Account wide unlocks for all unique event rewards!!
All those words to say, in the end, NOTHING is really changing as far as what the player is experiencing with the slow grind. This warms my heart, really, when I stop and think how many alts I have. My mistake.
I think I just read the biggest load of bollocks I've ever seen (except that report from Al Gore...) from a dev that is....
So You (PWE/Cryptic) are going to maintain the speed of progression (glacially slow) and just change the numbers people see pop up to give the illusion that they aren't making less XP than before the DR release...
Sorry but it's not 3 missions per level in DR. It's closer to 20. THAT'S NOT F***ING FUN.
Whoever came up with the maths per reward there (probs the OP) needs to go back, play the game for about 2 days non-stop (with a bit of sleep maybe) and see if they actually find it fun/enjoyable instead of a boring grindfest. Oh do it on elite too, I'd love to see how you guys cope with that with a moderately geared lvl 50 toon just starting the content...
Oh and God mode is banned...
Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."
i just hope all the level 60s will be alright, and the the grind struggle for points that will cap anyway is not so bad ...
In interpreting the post, the amount of progress in post level 60 -> (psuedo) level 61 will not be lost. If you are 75% of the way there, you will still be 75% of the way there. The only thing changing are the numbers.
I'm just waiting for this change to backfire because someone missed a bit of code and we relive the Taw Dewa fiasco all over again... GAME ON, cant wait!!

You know that crossed my mind as well, I am sitting here hoping it does happen but then, we all get punished again even if we aren't logged in to reap said mistake.
Happy days are here again! I am very glad to have read the entire post on the next patch for 11.20.14! Just to know there will be a fixed for skilled points being total correctly for your current level.
I'm befuddled by these words before me. Are you essentially telling us that we're hoping you don't notice things aren't changing but just look like it? Or are you putting out your graduate thesis on running for US congress?

I can't tell if your trolling or just didn't read everything.

No no no, they're telling us that they're hoping that we don't notice that things aren't changing but just look like it. Totally different. And because...
While there are a lot of numbers changing, we have taken extra care to make sure that the speed at which players level up will remain the same as it is now.
...everything will change to be exactly the same.

My guess would be that there are [SARCASM] and [/SARCASM] format markers missing from that post, but that's only a guess.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
But I hit 60 already without this. Mostly attained from other legal sources within this game. 80% from non DR content.
Just going to say, from cryptic point of view on leveling not playing DR = Exploit. lol
On a serious note here is what this says.
Fixed the doff exp to show a correct amount of exp awarded.
More exp for killing stuff the higher your level, assuming its equal level or higher. (Tis good thing).
The amount of time it took you to level from 50-60 will be the same before and after the patch as they moved the exp required up to meet the current pace.
TL;DR
Now here is what all that realllly boils down to.
Players - "The grind from 50-60 blows its so slow and not enough content for it, its completely unlike the first 1-50."
Cryptic - "Ok we hear you, so what we are doing is fluffing the numbers to make it look like we really did something when we really didn't. The grind will remain sh*t. Kthxbye."
Classic cryptic ignore all the player feedback, then throw the patch to live untested. I mean its worked out so great in the past right?! *listens to crickets*..... Oh well TRIBBLE maybe they should clean out their ears.....
*Gives them a jumbo box of Q-Tips*
Okay... I've read that wall o' textz and... "We are gonna put a dollar in your front pocket, while simultaneously taking a dollar out of your back pocket... 'cause we want you to have the same monies after we give you monies."
Seriously, you should buy everybody here a bottle of bourbon so we can enjoy that same twisted view of the game you have.
Okay... I've read that wall o' textz and... "We are gonna put a dollar in your front pocket, while simultaneously taking a dollar out of your back pocket... 'cause we want you to have the same monies after we give you monies."
This is what I got from the OP.
Issue: skill point values between levels were misleading (to what was actually happening in the game.)
Solution: Fix skill point numbers (so they better relate to what's actually happening with leveling). Progression working as intended, but front-end needs some adjustments.

"So we will fix it. BUT it wont change anything regarding missions and you still have to do the same amount. You wont notice anything but if you do the same amount of missions is needed...."
I am not sure WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT! SPEAK CLEARLY!
you talk about " drastic changes" but state before...
This means that if a player chooses to level up from level 51 to 52 using exclusively missions and it currently requires that they play 3 missions to do so, then after the update it will still take 3 missions to level up from 51 to 52 if you use them as your sole source of skill points.

I think I can translate
Numbers misleading, fixing numbers, don't worry no one is losing progress (but you also won't be gaining any either).

While there are a lot of numbers changing, we have taken extra care to make sure that the speed at which players level up will remain the same as it is now.
Well this change is largely pointless, then, isn't it?
The fix for this is that we will be updating the skill point rewards throughout the game so that they will at least maintain the values seen at earlier levels, or in the case of critter kills increase in skill point rewards as you increase in player level. In order to maintain the desired rate of progression we spent a lot of time fine tuning while developing Delta Rising the required amount of skill points for each player level will also go up.
While there are a lot of numbers changing, we have taken extra care to make sure that the speed at which players level up will remain the same as it is now.
So nothing is changing at all... some numbers on the screen that you hope will make people feel better. You guys pretty much have taken the crown now. You have honestly taken it put it on your heads and are now dancing and laughing.
Throughout the creation and testing of these additional levels, much of the teams attention was focused on whether or not the rewards and the progression felt correct.
It felt so correct that I gave up... all my alts got parked first, and I started playing one toon only. Then I thought to myself this SUCKS. Even when I manage to get where I want this toon to be I can't play just the one toon forever... No way I'm leveling another 5 or 6 toons like this.
Bottom line I'm gone... you can find me in EvE where believe it or not I can enjoy the game and feel like its less of a grind. Let that sink in if you managed to read this. I find EVE, yes spread sheets in space.... the game where people have invested years of grind. Less annoying to play. (having fun in fact... something I stopped having in STO right around the time Delta launched)
I'll admit, I'll be pleased if this update doesn't go south with unintended after-effects.
But this game has a lot of moving parts and a lot of custom work under the hood, and I won't be surprised if something gets missed. I've got a bad feeling this hasn't been burned-in on Tribble first... the announcement doesn't say.
As I already explained in post #64 of this thread it 'most likely' will hit the efficiency of playing borg alerts big time. And as others have pointed out make the skill bpnus pools even more laughable than they are now.
So nothing is changing at all... some numbers on the screen that you hope will make people feel better.
No, it seems they're hoping people will see more sense in the leveling system. If I'm ranking at a consistent rate then my earned skill points shouldn't go DOWN between levels.
Superficial problem (ie. one dealing strictly in interpretation) gets a superficial solution. Cryptic doesn't seem to be trying to make any other case here (whatever else you may be hoping for.)

(but we also increased the amount of XP you need to level up)

Wow this coming from a "Super Moderator"...I don't think it's possible to loose any more respect or faith in anyone or anything from Cryptic.
Would you recommend STO to a friend?
That doesn't make him wrong.
Huh? What bluegeek said was, albeit a mite trite, a simple fact.
Whether the OP's ingenious double-speak was in any way, shape, or form meaningful, well, that's another matter altogether.

where is Dan Stahl?
Hell I will even take Julio Torres at this point.
You know what, you're absolutely right. It doesn't make him wrong.
Doesn't change my opinion though.

I think that he DID read it, understood it, and is not terribly unhappy with the proposed change.
