A look around the Forums will show that you really couldn't have arrived at a worse time, the bright side of which is that it should be a point where things will only get better. We can but live in hope!
All this communication is a good start, and maybe with some new blood in Cryptic's studios, and a fresh pair of eyes, some of the little challenges that have been 'popping up' over the past several weeks won't be as problematic as they were?
Just remember: we're Star Trek fans... everything you do will be subject to a lot of critique, and everyone has strong opinions on everything. It's all par for the course.
With your job appointment does that mean a swap around in postings like Smirk and Trendy moving to pastures new
It would be good to have a list of who is who within the STO team so we know who does what or who is who just mainly to know who works on the game like put a name to the face kinda thing. . .
Wellcome to the neutral zone. Beware of the random friendly fire.
Jokes aside, it's nice to see a new face posting here, engaging the players and answering some questions. I hope the forums don't scare you off and the communication levels are maintained in the future. The forum tends to be an angry bunch, but generally much more peacefull and understanding when things are explained in time and with detail.
Since you're the product manager, I expect you to ensure ongoing and increasing quality of the product, so we can enjoy STO long in the future.
Once again, wellcome to STO, congrats on your new job and good luck!
BTW, Adamanteus, am I right to guess you are a fan of Wolverine?
On a more serious note, hopefully in a few days' time I intend to post up a comprehensive review of Delta Rising and everything surrounding it, once I have completed the last episode of the storyline. You guys *do* have the opportunity to influence a bit of it through what is currently going on. But over all the goal is going to be to be honest about both the good and the bad. As you seem to be a big-picture type based on the job description, maybe this and some of the videos and posts that take the whole thing together could be of use.
BTW, you'll find that I criticize, poke, prod, and ask enough questions to compete with your 2-year-old, but I don't bite. Really, I promise.

I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. I am the newest addition to the Star Trek Online team here at PWE. I've very recently taken on the role of Product Manager.
I want to say that I'm very excited to join the team, interact with all of you, and hopefully help everyone make STO even greater than it already is.
I want to thank all of you for your feedback and support for STO.
In the meantime, if you have questions for/about me feel free to reply to this post. I'll grab a few of the good questions and answer them in between all of the work being done for STO.
Thanks and great to meet you all!

and keep the bio-neural gel packs in their optimum efficiency so to speak.
I hate to be "that guy" (who am I kidding, i love being "that guy"), but it's kind of ironic that you mention that since to my knowledge there's a bug involving the bio-neural gel packs (in game console) not giving the listed stats. :P
BTW, Welcome to the madhouse.

Can you give tier 5u ships a lt cmdr boff ability so that it can be theoretically competetive with tier 6? As it stands tier 5u can cost more than tier 6 but have consistently weaker performance.
Hello and welcome to the forums, sir. I spent many years as a product manager for a molded plastic products company before starting my own business.
Anyway, I have a few quick questions:
1) We've seen time and again our feedback ignored on Tribble. Going forward, can we either eliminate the whole Tribble process or work out a method for getting our feedback applied to the finished product? NOTHING is more frustrating than saying "hey this is broken" having someone say "yes we're working on it" then six weeks later a buggy broken code-branch is dumped to Holodeck. Quite frankly it casts your QA team in such negitive terms that I can't even come up with a joke.
2) Controllers. Not everyone can manage the keyboard. I myself have to play with a gamepad and mouse due to hand issues. Some people just prefer gamepads. Three major releases in a row now we've had the controller support broken... and in each case it too several weeks for it to get fixed. Going forward, as above... can we address this issue so we don't release new content with broken controller support?
3) Power Creep And The Loss Of That Trek Feeling: So now we are ALL forced to be intel officers? All of us? No choice in the matter is there. What if you don't want that specialization? Some of us remember when Star Trek was about exploration and cooperation, we just took another huge step away from the Trek ideal. When are we going to see a shift back to Trek ideals? And while we are on that subject, when are we going to dial back on the power-creep? I'm sick of hearing about the latest DPS-firehose build and how if you can't beat (content X) in 90 seconds with 50K DPS you aren't playing the game right. Frankly we need to go back to the source material and tone down the combat.
4) Related to above, originality has taken a major hit here. Gateways? Like Stargate or Mass Effect? Check. Soul-bending threat beyond mortal comprehension? From beyond the gates? Check! Time-gated resource harvesting like another major MMO? CHECK!! So when are we going to see STO do something ORIGINAL and TREK LIKE rater than the current trend of cherry-picking existing franchises?
Thank you for your time, I look forward to your answers.
Was your position newly created? Maybe even related to the financial success of Delta Rising?
Yeah, that. Or the other thing. :P
Seriously, though, I applaud Cryptic for taking communication with the community a bit more serious now; enough, at least, to appoint a new guy for it. Far as I'm concerned, looks like they're trying, at least.

We are absolutely aware of the issue and the developers have been looking into the problem. Unfortunately, I do not have an ETA on hand to give out. Hopefully we'll have some better news for you soon but don't quote me on that quite yet.
Thank you for your response. Out of curiosity, how did such a major issue make it past playtesting? I can understand how small glitches can creep through, but I would have imagined that one such as this would have been picked up before release.

I had actually not seen those posts until you linked them, both sound good.
Just please keep us updated when we can expect to see these changes in game as soon as you reasonably can.

Aren't you in a lovely mood?
Look at the patch notes today on tribble, try if it works now.
Aren't you just a little ray of sunshine?
