I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. I am the newest addition to the Star Trek Online team here at PWE. I've very recently taken on the role of Product Manager.
I want to say that I'm very excited to join the team, interact with all of you, and hopefully help everyone make STO even greater than it already is.
I want to thank all of you for your feedback and support for STO.
In the meantime, if you have questions for/about me feel free to reply to this post. I'll grab a few of the good questions and answer them in between all of the work being done for STO.
Thanks and great to meet you all!
Aaron "Adamanteus" Biedma
Product Manager
Star Trek Online
Fancy title.
Does that mean you're doing the whipping or are you on the receiving end of that whip.

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
I'll be the (intended) first to say welcome to the team These forums can be... very vocal (<- understatment), but most of it is simply fueled by a love of ST, and who want the game to succeed.
And I guess the most simple question would be; what does a Product Manager do, exactly?
Was named Trek17.
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!
The nut who actually ground out many packs. The resident forum voice of reason (I HAZ FORUM REP! YAY!)
normal text = me speaking as fellow formite colored text = mod mode
I have no clue... (about many things actually, but that's a whole different thread)
With a name like that... I'm going to assume that you've already been paying attention to the forums lately.

Thank you for taking the time to post here. I hope we will see you here regularly. There's a huge vacuum between these forums and the people at PWE that someone needs to fill. I hope your job as Product Manager means you will be a voice for reverting about 90% of what DR has brought into this game...but hope is a lost luxury here.
Welcome again. Hope you enjoy it...and that you'll be here for many years (if you catch my drift).
Given the last weeks, this name can easily be misunderstood as a declaration of war towards the community.
I hope that it really is just misunderstoodable...
Actually, it's probably most appropriate for a new guy at this time...
He's gonna need all the protection he can get from STO FORUM RAGE!!

The question should be what do we not do. We have many hats that we put on and change even minute to minute. We interface with all of the different teams/departments to get stuff done, do a lot of game and data analysis, and keep the bio-neural gel packs in their optimum efficiency so to speak. Plus a lot more of top of all of that.
Welcome to the oven that is the STO forums, I hope you have plenty of equipment capable of withstanding high levels of heat and a good dosage of toxicity.
On a more serious note... what exactly does a "product manager" do?

What are your current priorities in regards to Star Trek Online?
In other words, what hats are you wearing the most right now?

Hmm, data analysis and team management, as a few of many things you do - be careful; players might just look to you as the new spokesperson to give ideas/demands to the others

I kinda agree; his name doesn't speak 'declared war' in any way that I can possibly think of. In fact, it reminds me far more of the Adamantoise species from FF - which for anyone who doesn't know is this giant turtle-dinosaur race that are tough beasts (even more so than the final bosses in some games) :P

I have a question for you. Currently Mac users cannot play the game as it keeps crashing. There seems to be no dev supplied information that I can find regarding what is happening.
As a life subscriber who has paid a lot of money on this game I feel frustrated that I cannot play the game through no fault of my own and that I cannot find any information regarding when this frustrating situation may end.
Can you please provide some information about what is happening and what a rough ETA for the fix may be?
Tell Askray to re-open my thread. Thanks in advance.

We are absolutely aware of the issue and the developers have been looking into the problem. Unfortunately, I do not have an ETA on hand to give out. Hopefully we'll have some better news for you soon but don't quote me on that quite yet.

Hope you brought the appropriate flame resistant items. It's been...toasty around here if you catch my drift.
