maybe its just me because I own all four advanced escorts in game ( advanced escort, multi vector advanced escort, mirror patrol escort ( looks like advanced escort ), and the fleet advanced escort ), but why the deviation in changing the boff seats? and not just a little deviation, I would think this drastically changes how this ship can be used even more so than simply changing the ltc tac slot to a ltc eng slot.
very annoyed at how 2 ships at the same level both have refits but one CLEARLY has a huge advantage. at this point I would also like to complain that the MVAM console still takes up a console slot, where as this AFT DHC gets its own slot and does not take up one of the 3 aft weapon slots.
its like said before by many people ! They just climb up the creep ladder and dont care about already spent ressources ! They want u to spend more. Even if u think u already got the top of the hill !
Precedent. The gal-x and the arkif both received buffs that were applied retroactively to all extant examples of the gal-x and the relevant arkif variants and rightly so. Granted, the changes weren't a full boff and console layout replacement but the principle is the same.
Could you imagine the rage there would have been if cryptic/pwe turned around and pulled what they've done now, back then?
If it was good enough for those two, then why isn't it good enough for the FPE?
Precedent is irrelevant. The Galaxy-X of old and the revamped Galaxy-X are the same ship because both are Galaxy-X-class Dreadnought Cruisers. The old "Maelstrom-class Fleet Patrol Escort" and the "Maelstrom-class Fleet Patrol Escort Refit" are different because they are named differently.
This is just an excuse for not realizing that they are not willing to give us a logical system how ship progression works. Did u expect that this ship will come ?
Sad enough that we all have to make expectations in buying ships because we cant be sure that one week later theres coming one thats cheaper and better !
Captains! The design specs are in! We're pleased to announce our brand new Patrol Escort! The Tempest and the Maelstrom come loaded up with new Nadion Saturation Bombs, the Fused Aft Tempest gun, and more. Al 'Captain Geko' Rivera shows off the ships in our latest entry of the Season 9 News Dev Blog series.
This is just an excuse for not realizing that they are not willing to give us a logical system how ship progression works. Did u expect that this ship will come ?
Can you demonstrate that it's "just an excuse"? Or are you merely assuming something to dishonestly confirm your own agenda? Or just posting to complain and don't care if other posters try to point things out to you?
are we getting back our 4 fleet modules or not?
because we dint get new version of existing ship, so i have to discard this uslees old version, and buy new one for 5 fleet moduls
damm i never seen ship cost 9 fleet modules
... Damn kids, in my days we had no "reputation system", all we got was the Borg set and we had to do each mission for each part, not just running ISE and there was no seperated space and ground, no sir ... we had to do both in one go and it used to take us FOUR HOURS to do so ...
GET OFF MY LAWN!

OMG This is hilarious!
Our old fleet dogs were recalling the "good old days" (if you want to call them good), and thinking about hovering over a planet and calling out in zone chat looking for a group to play, or finish the match.
This is probably EXACTLY what they're planning on doing. Hell, they've already done it and people are still shelling out money for it. Fleet versions of ships are the exact same ship you usually already have, but with a few tweaked stats. Putting out "Updated" ships to replace unused (because we've just replaced them already) ships is really just another layer of this pricey onion on a stick cryptic is trying to get us all to bite into.
I've already bought the damned ship. I shouldn't have to buy a slightly better version of it once a year or more or ever. If you want to beef up the ships to go along with your power creep, fine, just update it, or charge us a little in game currency to "Upgrade" the existing ships. Don't TRIBBLE over your players and the fans, just for a little extra money, which won't even go back into this game. Don't turn Star Trek into Champions, though to be honest, i really can't say that what you've turned it into already is too far off. The sheer fact that they haven't addressed this yet is pretty much proof that they don't intend to replace the existing ships. Why should they? They're guaranteed to get money from it. They've already proven that they don't care about the fans or the IP. Why should they bother doing what's right by people that already own the ship?
Just look at the people that were early adopters to the galaxy-x and the venture. They've already paid the price of the three pack, but do they get that third ship free? Nope. Full $60 for what people can get now for $40. Thanks for being a fan of Galaxy glass. If they introduce a defiant 3 pack or the intrepid as a three pack, it will be the same story their. "Hey, remember when we were selling all those perks for buying the LTS? Well $@#$ you guys, we've already got your money. You ingrates should just be glad to even have an LTS, let alone any perks!" (what ever happened to stormy?)
Needless to say, while cryptic should do the right thing by fans and by the IP, they won't. They just flat out don't care. They already have your money, and really don't need to worry about anything else, because someone is always going to give them money and that's all they care about.
Period.
...Sigh... reminds me of what they did with the traits in S9 (Oh My, did I just say that?)
Somewhere, someone in PW is singing karaoke to Styx: Fooling Yourself
Wooow, what a surprise, another escort ship for FED.
Finally the feds got a chance against the countless KDF overpowered tactical ships like the err...hmmm.... sor. maybe i forgot all the names
Maybe, the feds need more so they could stand against the mighty romulan sci-ships or the gigantic romulan carriers like the .....ohoh no names again...
Looking at it...They probably should've left the old one in. This is a significantly different ship, while those actually lamenting the loss of the original FPE are in a minority the ships are different enough that I think that both of them could've coexisted.
They're different classes. The old one was just a Fleet Patrol Escort, a fleet version of the RA ship. The new one is a Patrol Escort Refit (BOFF changes and a c-store console), and a Fleet Patrol Escort Refit (fleet version of the Refit, byoc).
With the Assault Cruiser Refit and Fleet Assault Cruiser Refit there was never a Fleet Assault Cruiser...that they were willing to put in game. In fact perhaps wisely they waited for the Assault Cruiser Refit to come out before they released the Fleet Version, which sidestepped this very problem.
In this instance we have a free Patrol Escort, then you had the Fleet Version of that. Now we have a C-Store Patrol Escort Refit and the Fleet Version of that. With the removal of the normal FPE we're now stuck with the Fleet Version of the Refit. I find it fascinating how the Fleet ship costs five modules and no fleet credits.
That's not true, there are seating combinations with dual-Lt that havent been done and make a lot of sense. They could have made the Galaxy dual-Lt tactical, for example, and it would be interesting and unique cruiser seating.
The issue with a dual tactical LT slot on the Galaxy is that it wouldn't have addressed certain issues such as not being able to get the most tactical effect out of a Lt Tac boff. You can't use the highest beam weapon attacks, or even decent cannon attacks.
While it would've been interesting it wouldn't have been particularly effective.
There's also a MASSIVE difference between this and the Galaxy upgrade. The Galaxy upgrade was made with a token recognition that the Galaxy class ships had been left by the way side and needed buffing in order to exist in modern STO. They were only partially successful.
This isn't a direct upgrade the Patrol Escort and it's variants are fine. This is the release of a new product.
I'm surprised that they didn't implement a registration and trade in program for three more FMs or something for people who already own the FPE that want to upgrade.
Yes, but that's a c-store ship vs Fleet ship. The argument is about old fleet ship vs new fleet ship. Different kettle of fish.
The main issue is that the FPE was removed. It's clear that the upgrade path now is meant to be, PE-> PER->FPER, and it's a more expensive path.

waww so that guy explaining he lost his old fleet patrol escort he bough for 4 fleet ship modules when that last patch came out, add to the fact that he spend 2500 zen on a store ship, add the fact that he didnt get the discount when buying a new fleet patrol escort so he also payed 5 fleet ship modules for T1 ship.....
let me do the math :
- 4x500 zen for 1st (old) patrol escort
- 2500 zen for zen store ship
- 5x500 zen for fleet ship modules to buy new Fleet patrol escort.
in zen that's 7000 zen right ? FOR A T1 SHIP right ? & loosing one ? usable on only one char btw !

Escort with 8 weapons. Ok...
Now give my Oddy, and all cruisers, 10 weapon hardpoints.

Yesterday: about 141 dilithium per zen
Today: It was 152 5 minutes ago and just jumped to 154 dil per zen.
I *was* going to trade a little dil for zen today to go with the 2k I payed real money for, but no way in hell now. We're heading towards pre-season 7 levels, which hovered around 160-165 dil per zen.
I think I'll just hang onto my dil for now and/or use it in reputation projects.

The ship sale also comes on the tail of a bonus dilithium weekend, meaning supply is higher than usual as well. This is a great time to buy dilithium if you are so inclined, unless you need your Zen for something in particular. This kind of works out well for the fleets, even if the exchange looks bad from a dilithium --> Zen perspective.
It really just depends on which side of the exchange you're working from
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.

I use zen. I don't sell it usually. I did need my zen I bought. Together with what zen I already had, I bought two 10 key packs in the c-store. Managed to get enough lobi with what lobi I already had, to get the Jem'hadar ground set upgrade for the costume unlock.
I was hoping to trade what dil I had on my toons and hopefully get another key or 2 but sadly the dil exchange is way too much now.
Devs/yellow names are always absent in threads where they've screwed over players - whether they have instructions to steer clear is irrelevant as it simply looks like cowardice.
I bought the old FPE last week using stipend from my paid-for-itself LTS.
It would have been decent of Cryptic to upgrade rather than retire existing FPEs, but that's hopelessly naive with this company.
Oh well, looking forward to next week's dev blogs saying logging in is going to a pay as you go system and all ships will get a hangar fitted with a totally-not-power-creep planet killer hangar pet.

4x500 Zen for old Fleet Ship
2500 for Zen ship

We don't want what the Feds have. We want the equivalent. We want fairer treatment. Concern, desire, greed to some extent, and passionate belief that the enough people would buy KDF items to make it worth Cryptic's while.

His math is right. He specifically said he's talking about a guy who didn't get the discount from the C-Store version, even though he bought it.
And it's 5x500 because the new Fleet Patrol Escort Refit costs 5 FSMs instead of the FPE's 4.

Ifffff. My character was just born and creeping out of his academy and thought he would never be able to afford anything in the C-Store. Plus, buying a ship now by convert dilithium is still cheaper because of the discount.
so even though i have the original fleet patrol escort i cant get a discount at all... there goes 4 fleet modules on a now "obsolete" ship that in 99% of other games if they update something they update everyone's ships of the type they updated.
The ship sale also comes on the tail of a bonus dilithium weekend, meaning supply is higher than usual as well. It's even odder than I originally thought...
As I menioned in my other post, I bought the PER first. I dismissed the dialog box to rename the ship, as I only bought it for the skin (and maybe the console) and had no intention of actually flying it, and moved onto the FPER.
However, the Buy Ship button was greyed out for the FPER, even though I had just bought the PER and already had 1 Fleet Module in my inventory (so should have been eligible). The cost still showed as 5 Fleet Ship Modules. I was sure I'd read in the blog post that it would only cost 1, but I couldn't check again as I was getting an error message when trying to bring up the site, so I just bought the extra modules, the button un-greyed and I clicked to buy.
But checking my inventory today, it turns out I still have the other 4 modules, so it did apply the discount when I bought the ship - but forced me to buy an extra 4 modules (to take me to 5) before allowing me to buy it. So I did have to spend an extra 2000 Zen unnecessarily in order to buy the ship, (and a total of 7000 including the FPE which has vanished), but I suppose I can just hold onto the extra modules until some point in the future when there's another fleet ship I want to buy, so it's not a total waste.
Well that was unexpected. But I'm really loving that Tempest skin.
So does this mean new Starcruser, Luna, and DSSV variants are coming? If nothing else since the release of the Odyssey and Ambassador classes the original Starcruiser could use some love. Also those ships would finally qualify for a fleet module discount.
Also does this mean that KDF fleet ships that don't have a T5 C-Store version will finally be getting one?
actually, if you look at the ship it does not say "U.S.S. Tempest" it says USS Nellore. they were wanting to know the registry of the Tempest, not the posterchild for the class
