ive said this before and il say it again whining for the 1% of the good gear they don't have defines feds almost as much as the 99% of the gear they do have.
hell as im posting this im in kerrat and 2/3 of the feds(all spawn camping btw real classy) are running BFAW and aux to bat builds. maybe if you try something other than the same build over and over you might have different results. i PvP all the time in my fleet and no one repeat no one calls AA op and they arnt all experts ether and yet the noobiest person in my fleet who has played for a month can counter them.

Others may take issue with it, but I don't, really. Not claiming elitism here or anything like it, I just ignore it. The little explosions are annoying, but that's about it to me. If there's nothing else to shoot at, I'll shoot at an AA. The worst it does to me is ruffle my shields.
However, I will admit that I usually only have to deal with them in PVE, if that means anything. I rarely PvP.

AA does PBAoE damage to targets.
AA target what ever attacks it. High Yield Torpedoes, Pets and players.
AA kills destructable Torps because HY torps have that weakness built into them. Any weapon can shoot down a destructable torp.
PETS die to AA because they target and shoot the AA with energy weapons which increases the AA PBAoE damage output and easily kills weak pets.
AA kills the Breen torpedo becuase the Breen Torp is a destructable torp up until it deploys the multi-warhead effect. Any weapon (and especially BFAW) can shoot down a Breen Torp before it is fully armed.
The AA does nothing but sit and wait until is targeted. Once targeted the AA becomes deadly.
Do not target the AA. Move away from the AA. Disable the AA with non energy weapons.
Torp spread is good for this and does not activate its high damage. The Borg KCB is very good for this and does not activate its PBAoE. Scramble Sensors is good to redirect its attacks. Jam Sensors will allow you to escape if AA is activated by mistake. TBR will push away AA as well as kill it if TBR is powerful enough. GW will trap AA and eventually kill it. Mines will Kill AA.
AA is not the end all be all ultimate weapon. If it was all KDF would be using it as much as the Leech is used in a build.
AA is just fun to use against players who do not have the knowledge or self control to counter its simple Tarbaby design.

THIS! For a single console to have the power to deny an entire ship build from being effective is flat out nuts. And I know the usual example of fire at will/gravity well and all that being used as an example to justify the AA's OP AOE, but that is a ship BUILD which requires many components to be effective which is easily debuffed directly by a sci! Not a single console which forces you to take valuable time away from your target that you may be spending minutes on trying to wear down and this console just foils all that for just the price of one slot.
Its not at the price of one shot but at the price of the attacker spamming an AOE attack i discriminately with no concern for what dangers have been introduced into the combat.
BFAW spamming builds are their own worst enemy in combat if a AA has been deployed because of that unfocused fire.
CrF using cannons will not activate a AA by accident unless the attacker accidently targets the AA.
CSV will activate the AA if the AA is in the AoE cone of fire.
Stop blindly bfawing and CsVing in a fight.
Stop being a nerfer just because AA makes your BFAW+A2B+DEM+MARION+ETC+ETC spacebar spamboat a threat to itself.

So AA is OP because it disrupts your otherwise damage dealing Science playstyle and should be changed because your Sci is not as effective as a Tac against it even though you do have the option to deal with the AA, even if it means waiting for your opponent to stop camping upon it and fight you?
Why should this one console be changed to make your gameplay more enjoyable just to you?
What of the gameplay feel of the other guy who may use the AA just because many dont stop to out think it in combat when its deployed?
I count at least 8 powers that this one console can do.
* Not bound to one specific ship like a D'kora module is.
* Immune from energy weapons [cannot be overloaded]
1. Stays after owner death
2. It has more drain than a Tyken's Rift, able to shutdown an entire wave of NWS spawn
3. Passive AOE radiation that even affects cloaked ships
4. Active AOE damage when shot
5. AOE explosion damage on destruction
6. Clears all targetable projectiles within a 5km radius
7. Destroys all hangar pets within 5Km radius
8. Can be activated by NPCs to attack Federation targets [Nothing like it when you have just been hit with a Borg Shield Breaker] and you use a sensor scramble to buy time to get hazard emitters going. When Borg targets AA and activates them at the most inopportune time.
* 45-second CD -vs- 1:45 CD for TR3 -vs- in the very least a minimum of a 2:00 CD for every other non-weapon console.
In combat zone there is never just one AA usually you have at least 3 or more people setting multiples off. The result is a irradiated zone of doom usually on the spawn point. See they just don't drop AA they usually have destabilized plasma or throw GW on you. Next thing you know the Rommie Vapers decloak and shoot you with subnuke sending your powers into cooldown. So you can't just run away because you are taking damage. Then some idiot with the FAW build or someone's pets activates every damn thing within 10Km.
Is it OP yeah, what can be done to fix it? Plenty....
1. Make it so that ANY ship Fed or KDF within range takes damage. Make it so that KDF weapony and pets can set it off too just like destabilized plasma.
2. Go back and make it like it was originally a energy drain.
3. Make it available to Feds and give KDF tachyon detection field.
4. Limit the player to one on the field like the bio-neural warhead.
5. Level the playing field with a minium of 2 min cooldown like every other console.
These are just some simple solutions that would reduce the OP. All other universal consoles are much more limited in the scope of what they can do, and limited timewise on the cooldown.
As far as content for KDF who feel slighted that problem is on the Devs. There is plenty they could do to take current missions and change the viewpoint to fit the KDF. Another suggestion which has been largely ignored is to take certain approved Foundry missions and insert the appropiate ones into the exploration replacing the normal kill five mobs. As far as ships go and what is the next uber super ship simply copy exsisting fed and KDF ships and give them different skins. I would be curious to see a Fed version of the Garumba or the Kar'Fi Carrier. Similarly I would love to see a update version of the old B-4 [Fed Avenger stats]. I just hate to see the crappy arms race gotta buy the next lockbox ship so that people can be a uber shield penetrating multi 8 power console. Then you can yell I win because I got the newest toy.
Fairness and balance is something that Cryptic knows nothing of. Frankly, I think the whole Legacy of Romulus was a terrible idea. Rommies should be thier own faction seperate and standing alone from Feds and KDF. They should have content all thier own perhaps a warzone in thier space. If this were the case the KDF and Feds would have a ton more to worry about when entering a warzone like Kerrat. Because there would be Borg and two other factions looking for blood.
For the record the a2b build can be beaten by 3 doffs that reduce resistance to FBP and a combo of RSP/FBP. I let them hammer me and it bounces back to them and then my torps finish them. Then again I am just a weak little sci ship with no chance against a2b FAW build.

LOL at feds getting spawned camped. You guys almost always have the numbers in Kerrat. Not nerfing something I paid for because federation players suck in Kerrat. It's like 3 feds to every 1 KDF. A Sci can do plenty of "real" DPS without targetable Torps or Cluster but NOT with simply smashing spacebar. Learn to play.

Doesn't matter. Even if it had 20sec CD and you could deploy 4 simultaneously, the KDF would laugh and just kill the AA. "Problem" solved.

did anybody mentioned it? it is A O E. If you throw a GW3 an a dying Cube and the Feddy gets caught and drawn to it, he will die in the warpcore explosion. Oh it kills pets, too!

patient you are comparing apples and oranges when talking about abilities and consoles. I am not saying AA is OP however you lose the argument when comparing abilities to consoles. You need to compare like with like so you need to find a console ability to compare it to.
Maybe i'm comparing green apples vs red ones.
How does it matter if i have to waste a Console-Slot or a Boff-Slot ?

If I remember correctly from that episode the enterprise was almost drained to death.
Good thing that Geordi fixed it + the holodeck women. So looking to the ST series facts it needs to get a buff!:D
Because unlike the scramble sensors that cant be targeted. You actualy can target the AA and destroy it. Thats why the 60 sec cd and limit of 2 is justified.
But you being limited too by your choice using only certain weapons and tactics is a another thing!
Like i said 5 pages ago. torp high yeild on proton, quantum or transphasic. Watch AA go boom, move along. Or torp spread. Still torps are the quickest and easiest way to take out AAs.

During the war with the Promellians in the 14th century, the Menthars hid several hundred thousand aceton assimilators in the floating remains of Orelious IX, creating an instant booby trap. What they do now is destroy High Yeild Torpedos and Fighter craft and hangar pets. Passive AOE damage is flat OP why should it drain anything if it has not been fired upon? I cannot think of any other console in the game that does so many different things and has a 45 second cooldown with a life of 5 minutes.
Since I started playing this game over 4 years ago I have seen sci skill after sci skill nerfed like scramble sensors... your opponent is scrambled but can still target you and fire on you...so what was the point of scrambling them?
Flying a sci ship DPS is very hard to produce. The Breen Cluster Bomb and HYT get wiped out by the Aceton Assimilator and energy weapons are useless. More to the point you can move this console to different ships. I can't do that with the D'Kora console.
So why is it that this one console has so many powers and the shortest cooldown? If it were on the fed side it would have a 5 min cooldown with a 45 second life.
AA target what ever attacks it. High Yield Torpedoes, Pets and players.
AA kills destructable Torps because HY torps have that weakness built into them. Any weapon can shoot down a destructable torp.
PETS die to AA because they target and shoot the AA with energy weapons which increases the AA PBAoE damage output and easily kills weak pets.
AA kills the Breen torpedo becuase the Breen Torp is a destructable torp up until it deploys the multi-warhead effect. Any weapon (and especially BFAW) can shoot down a Breen Torp before it is fully armed.
The AA does nothing but sit and wait until is targeted. Once targeted the AA becomes deadly.
Do not target the AA. Move away from the AA. Disable the AA with non energy weapons.
Torp spread is good for this and does not activate its high damage. The Borg KCB is very good for this and does not activate its PBAoE. Scramble Sensors is good to redirect its attacks. Jam Sensors will allow you to escape if AA is activated by mistake. TBR will push away AA as well as kill it if TBR is powerful enough. GW will trap AA and eventually kill it. Mines will Kill AA.
AA is not the end all be all ultimate weapon. If it was all KDF would be using it as much as the Leech is used in a build.
AA is just fun to use against players who do not have the knowledge or self control to counter its simple Tarbaby design.

THIS! For a single console to have the power to deny an entire ship build from being effective is flat out nuts. And I know the usual example of fire at will/gravity well and all that being used as an example to justify the AA's OP AOE, but that is a ship BUILD which requires many components to be effective which is easily debuffed directly by a sci! Not a single console which forces you to take valuable time away from your target that you may be spending minutes on trying to wear down and this console just foils all that for just the price of one slot.
BFAW spamming builds are their own worst enemy in combat if a AA has been deployed because of that unfocused fire.
CrF using cannons will not activate a AA by accident unless the attacker accidently targets the AA.
CSV will activate the AA if the AA is in the AoE cone of fire.
Stop blindly bfawing and CsVing in a fight.
Stop being a nerfer just because AA makes your BFAW+A2B+DEM+MARION+ETC+ETC spacebar spamboat a threat to itself.

Against many fed opponents even if they had usual AOE powers like scatter volley, grav well, BFAW, etc, it was always possible to cope with that as well as debuff them and subnuke those powers to be used far less often. Those fights were always great and enjoyable fair fights. But as soon as I dealt with someone that had that infernal AA console, it all simply became impossible, it could take 3 or so regular plasma torp shots to kill those devices, and by the time you killed it, another one was deployed and you can't use destructible projectiles ever. And you can't just fly away from it, your opponent will camp the assimilator knowing he is completely safe from your most damaging projectiles, it becomes a no win scenario in PVP for a sci torp boater thanks to that console, it's flat out stupid that one console can have that much power over you. Also powers like gravity well and tractor beams also take a LONG time to kill those things as well. Easy if you're a tac captain, but not as a sci.

So AA is OP because it disrupts your otherwise damage dealing Science playstyle and should be changed because your Sci is not as effective as a Tac against it even though you do have the option to deal with the AA, even if it means waiting for your opponent to stop camping upon it and fight you?
Why should this one console be changed to make your gameplay more enjoyable just to you?
What of the gameplay feel of the other guy who may use the AA just because many dont stop to out think it in combat when its deployed?

1. Stays after owner death
2. It has more drain than a Tyken's Rift, able to shutdown an entire wave of NWS spawn
3. Passive AOE radiation that even affects cloaked ships
4. Active AOE damage when shot
5. AOE explosion damage on destruction
6. Clears all targetable projectiles within a 5km radius
7. Destroys all hangar pets within 5Km radius
8. Can be activated by NPCs to attack Federation targets [Nothing like it when you have just been hit with a Borg Shield Breaker] and you use a sensor scramble to buy time to get hazard emitters going. When Borg targets AA and activates them at the most inopportune time.
* 45-second CD -vs- 1:45 CD for TR3 -vs- in the very least a minimum of a 2:00 CD for every other non-weapon console.
In combat zone there is never just one AA usually you have at least 3 or more people setting multiples off. The result is a irradiated zone of doom usually on the spawn point. See they just don't drop AA they usually have destabilized plasma or throw GW on you. Next thing you know the Rommie Vapers decloak and shoot you with subnuke sending your powers into cooldown. So you can't just run away because you are taking damage. Then some idiot with the FAW build or someone's pets activates every damn thing within 10Km.
Is it OP yeah, what can be done to fix it? Plenty....
1. Make it so that ANY ship Fed or KDF within range takes damage. Make it so that KDF weapony and pets can set it off too just like destabilized plasma.
2. Go back and make it like it was originally a energy drain.
3. Make it available to Feds and give KDF tachyon detection field.
4. Limit the player to one on the field like the bio-neural warhead.
5. Level the playing field with a minium of 2 min cooldown like every other console.
These are just some simple solutions that would reduce the OP. All other universal consoles are much more limited in the scope of what they can do, and limited timewise on the cooldown.
As far as content for KDF who feel slighted that problem is on the Devs. There is plenty they could do to take current missions and change the viewpoint to fit the KDF. Another suggestion which has been largely ignored is to take certain approved Foundry missions and insert the appropiate ones into the exploration replacing the normal kill five mobs. As far as ships go and what is the next uber super ship simply copy exsisting fed and KDF ships and give them different skins. I would be curious to see a Fed version of the Garumba or the Kar'Fi Carrier. Similarly I would love to see a update version of the old B-4 [Fed Avenger stats]. I just hate to see the crappy arms race gotta buy the next lockbox ship so that people can be a uber shield penetrating multi 8 power console. Then you can yell I win because I got the newest toy.
Fairness and balance is something that Cryptic knows nothing of. Frankly, I think the whole Legacy of Romulus was a terrible idea. Rommies should be thier own faction seperate and standing alone from Feds and KDF. They should have content all thier own perhaps a warzone in thier space. If this were the case the KDF and Feds would have a ton more to worry about when entering a warzone like Kerrat. Because there would be Borg and two other factions looking for blood.
For the record the a2b build can be beaten by 3 doffs that reduce resistance to FBP and a combo of RSP/FBP. I let them hammer me and it bounces back to them and then my torps finish them. Then again I am just a weak little sci ship with no chance against a2b FAW build.

LOL at feds getting spawned camped. You guys almost always have the numbers in Kerrat. Not nerfing something I paid for because federation players suck in Kerrat. It's like 3 feds to every 1 KDF. The problem is the federation players. They need to learn how to PVP, then they won't have worry about 20 AA's at their spawn. That's all it is. I bet most KDF player are lol'ing at this thread.
Feds have high HP ships, KDF have battle cloak and AA's. Deal with it.
Doesn't matter. Even if it had 20sec CD and you could deploy 4 simultaneously, the KDF would laugh and just kill the AA. "Problem" solved.

EVERYTHING is OP against NPCs ... again and again: cloaked ships are not magically taken out of the Universe or out of phase or whatever! The mighty Scimfart (that cloud after death) should affect cloaked ships to, so are GW,TR .... thats what it SHOULD do! just like GW, TR. oh they all don't need to be shot at...
just don't shoot that bloody thing. ??? didn't ever notice even as a fed like EVERY SINGLE AOE out there like EVERY SINGLE AOE out there did anybody mentioned it? it is A O E. If you throw a GW3 an a dying Cube and the Feddy gets caught and drawn to it, he will die in the warpcore explosion. Oh it kills pets, too!

Roll yourself a KDF, jump to Kerrat. Drop your AA and shoot something. Some secs later you're swarmed by campspawning BFAW Feddys* - boom. You're gone, AA gone. Repeat 100 times then come back and tell us again how OP AA are.

Feds gets everything, tons of Ships, working Tailors, Raiders, Cloaking Devices - even a new ESD.
KDF got a Avenger Copy for BFAW play - great :mad:

If I remember correctly from that episode the enterprise was almost drained to death.
Good thing that Geordi fixed it + the holodeck women. So looking to the ST series facts it needs to get a buff!:D
Because unlike the scramble sensors that cant be targeted. You actualy can target the AA and destroy it. Thats why the 60 sec cd and limit of 2 is justified.
But you being limited too by your choice using only certain weapons and tactics is a another thing!
