    Season 9 should be a Cryptic Bug Bash so they fix all of the outstanding bugs that already exist.
    No more new content until they fix all the bugs & stabilize the game!

    And some combat UI improvements wouldn't hurt either. The current UI reminds me of my annoying "special" cousin; clumsly, slow on the uptake,doesn't always do what its told and often gets me in trouble!:mad: Something more streamlined with less delay and screen clutter would be good.

    After all, when most of the game's challenge is coming from bugs and poor UI mechanics, some fixing up would do it some good. ;)

    I was thinking about the fleet projects and I think it would be cool to be able to play around with a ship.

    The ship could be called in to support players. It could be found in the space around the starbase, mine, or spire.

    Players could board and use the ship to complete missions to earn Fleet Marks.

    The fleet would be able to upgrade the ships looks internal and external, as well as weapons and shields.


    Another things about the fleets is give us the ability to do things with other fleets ex. declare was, trade, or receive aide.

    Title says it all. What do you want or NOT want from Season 9? My shortlist is cleaning up early-game Fed missions, bringing old ships up to par (see Musings of a Mad Man in my signature, under the Galaxy-X section, for an idea), the long-awaited Crafting revamp (that could possibly be done through the DOff system - I have an idea, but I want to flesh it out before I post it), and no new rep. The new grind every season is getting old fast.

    What do YOU want to see in Season 9, or what DON'T you want?

    More section 31 missions where were the semi badguy mixed with some time travel where we can visit some more of the st past.

    Well not a theme for a whole season, but something Cryptic should take a look at:

    I would like to propose a mechanic which allows us to upgrade/change our ships BOFF and console layout.


    It could work like this, there could be a NPC at the ship section of ESD (FED example here). This NPC could offer a variety of basic Bridge modules for either Escorts, Cruisers and Science ships. A player could change the existing BOFF and console Layout of the current ship via a C-Store token. More advanced bridge modules could also be sold at the C-Store.

    Also, when buying a new ship or a Lockbox ship that BOFF and Console Layout would be open for use on that account.


    With such a mechnaic older ships could be kept up to date and still get some money into Cryptics pockets. Cryptic would still sell truckloads of new ships AND old ones too. Additionally they would get a constant flow of C-Store ship module-change tokens buys.

    We players on the other hand could fly the ships we want and use our favourite BOFF and console Layout.
    Of course these Bridge modules would be restricted to their ship type, so no escort BOFF/console layout on a cruiser or nonsense like that.

    As someone who recently read the Romulan War and part of the Rise of the Federation book series, I like this idea (because of the S31 elements of those books - read them to find out). I could certainly see us going back to the Romulan War, or even just the Dominion War.

    A friend of mine proposed something similar for when the level cap goes up - customizing our ships' upgrades when we reach Fleet Admiral with something similar to a points system. Spend points to add a console slot, a BOff slot, additional base stats, etc. customize your ship how YOU want it.

    Apply Dyson rep system features retroactively to older rep systems

    Also, I renamed/tailored my K'Gans into different identities before season 8, but after season 8, I can't edit their names or background info...

    Console expansion. PS4, X-Box One... For those who might groan at this, you don't have to even acknowledge it if it were available. But for me, it would be the best thing ever to fire up the PS4 and play STO on my 55". Then when i'm done with that, I could just hop right over to my other favorite mmo, DCUO. That would be perfect for me. So, just let me dream please.

    Picard is awesomeness incarnate. If age is an issue, handwave it as a side effect of those metreogenic particles from the Ba'ku homeworld in ST: Insurrection.

    Besides, I don't think that I'm the only guy who dreams of being given orders by Sir Patrick Stewart.

    You could do what I did and hook your PC up to your TV. Most HD TVs support PC inputs. In fact, it's not even uncommon for people to use their TV as a monitor.

    On a console port... it's my decided opinion (and it IS an opinion) that MMOs simply don't work on consoles. The low amount of controls isn't intuitive to games built with a PC keyboard/mouse in mind. For instance, how would you map 3-5 power trays' worth of abilities to a console controller? There's just not enough buttons for everything you'd need. But, if it COULD be done, it might be okay. However, the tech involved would likely take a LARGE amount of time. It almost CERTAINLY wouldn't happen by Season 9. Look at how long the Mac version took, and that's EASY compared to consoles.

    Apologies to the op, I don't mean to hijack his thread with another discussion. I will just say this and let it go. With the new PS4 controller I think it could be done. because of the touch pad. Different swipes could activate a certain ability. I played an mmo on the ps4 where a simple swipe allowed me to do a cool move. Is there a motion sensor in it? You could control your ship or toon by moving the controller. Simply press the for shape buttons to do powers. Want to access the other side of the tray? Press L2. This works good in DCUO. I'm not saying all this and thinking it would easy. I know it would be difficult. Hey, and imagine having an X-Box One... you are playing STO, doing an STF, and skypeing with your team in your private session.

    I suppose something like that MIGHT work. Still, you'd be at a decided disadvantage in the speed of activating powers. And even if you got a control scheme... who knows HOW long it will take to convert the game's engine for console use? Especially two DIFFERENT consoles. We're probably looking at a year, maybe two, down the road.

    Not all that very old - Star Trek has shown humans active at over 130 years of age.

    section 31 will require an elaborate plot. with all respect to the story writers and devs, but creativity so far on their track record hasn't been close to good. time travel has been pretty much been done to death and flogging the dead horse around won't change anything.

    like miranda and connie becoming t5 ships? err yeah, when hell freezes over first. cbs wouldn't allow it.

    a console port for these guys will take a while, they have the engine source code but no console engine source code, obviously but translating all that pc based info to a console based code and getting all the internals to work, graphics and sounds... you could be looking at millions of dollars and about 5 years of work for a workable port for something like xbox one or ps4, there could also be significant bugs translated across from the pc version.

    what i want to see added to the game are a few more sectors in the delta quadrant, adding a few core races like the kazon, borg, devore and hierarchy and build more races on this before long, more sectors. build more storylines, more FE's.. won't cost anywhere near as much as a console port or the hassle for t5 connie and it would be a win win for the pve majority.

    Not a Miranda going T5, no. More like older T5 ships (see LRSV Retro, Galaxy Retro, Galaxy-X, D'Kyr, Nebula Retro, etc) being upgraded to stay competitive. I wouldn't want a T5 Miranda, either. Eww.

    As for the Delta Quadrant, we do have a convenient entry point with the Dyson Sphere (though, the Voth hold the actual entrance/exit on the "surface"). It could be done. The Kazon IMO would be too easy. The Devore would be fun, but we just don't KNOW enough about the Hierarchy to do them. Did we even see one of their ships? Not saying it wouldn't be cool, but it'd be tough.

    My top three season nines.....

    1. The Bug squashing season...nice idea, wont happen.

    2. The KDF season. Finish the faction off properly. Could happen but unlikely.

    3. The Mirror Universe season. Of my three favourites this is the more likely.

    Personally i wouldn't want to have T2 ships become as strong as a regular T5 ship, so the Bridge module system should only apply to Tier 5 ships, fleet ships and lockbox ships (maybe).

    And so begins the "T5 Connie" argument... No. Cryptic has already SAID no to this. Closest you'll get are the Fleet Ships. We're not talking CANON "older ships," we're talking about in-game ships that were PUT in-game a long time ago and have since become obsolete. T1 and T2 ships are obsolete for a REASON: They're designed for early levels, NOT for end-game. The older T5 ships ARE, however, designed for it, and they can't keep up anymore. They need an update to make them do their jobs. T1/T2 ships do their jobs just fine, you're proposing they do other jobs aside that they don't need to do. Ships can be viewed like equipment, in a way - are you proposing that we find a way to retrofit Mk I-Mk IV items to be equitable to Mk X-Mk XII items? Of course not, that's absurd.

    In any MMO, you have gear that is designed to eventually be surpassed as you level up. Early-tier ships in this game are no different. If you're at end-game, you're supposed to be flying a T5 ship. "All or Nothing" is as silly as "An Eye for An Eye".

    Also, I find the Galaxy a LOT better looking than anything at T1/T2. And let's not forget, most of the ships in those tiers were far more frequently shown getting their butt handed to them. Examples include:
    • The Miranda-class in TNG was commonly used as a "ship that is doomed" model. They were obliterated en masse in DS9, during the Dominion War (See Battle of Bajor, aka Battle to Retake DS9, or the two Battles of Chin'Toka, or the Battle of Cardassia).
    • The Oberth was the second "ship that is doomed" model used in TNG.
    • NX-01 Enterprise was ALWAYS outmatched, getting its butt handed to it all the time. For best example, see the Battle of Azati Prime.
    • Need I remind you of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country? 1701-A getting holes blown in it by a B'REL? (granted, a cloaked B'rel, but a B'rel). T2 Cruiser.
    • The archetype of the T2 Escort, the Saber-class, had several ships of the line destroyed at the Battle of Sector 001 (see Star Trek: First Contact). They were only ever seen again as cannon fodder at the First Battle of Chin'Toka.
    • The first Nova-class ship we saw (the T2 Science Vessel) was the USS Equinox (see VOY: Equinox). It was getting its butt handed to it for months and THEN was destroyed by a T4 Sci Ship (the Intrepid-class USS Voyager). And both ship classes were designed around the same time.

    So, if you oppose the retrofit of newer ships ALREADY at T5 because they were "relatively ineffective," let's school you on that.
    • The LRSV-Retrofit, the T5 Intrepid, was seen ONCE in the show. It was all-but immune to Borg attacks and one-shot several Cubes. (VOY: Endgame)
    • The Tactical Escort Retrofit, the T5 Defiant, was the "USS Ben-Sisko's-Mother*******-Pimp-Hand," as Opinionated Episode Reviewer SFDebris put it. It was capable of holding off a HEAVILY-retrofitted Excelsior-class ship (see Defiant vs. Lakota), could take extraordinary amounts of damage (see Battle of Bajor - again, or even the Second Battle of Deep Space Nine {DS9: A Call to Arms}, or the prelude to the FIRST Battle of Deep Space Nine {DS9: Way of the Warrior}, in which the Defiant held off a Vor'cha-class attack cruiser for several minutes).
    • The Galaxy-class in a very similar parralel universe could hold off three Klingon Battle Cruisers for a considerable length of time.
    • The Prime Universe Galaxy-class was, at the time of its launch, the most powerful ship in Starfleet.
    • The only canon sight of the Galaxy-X was in TNG: All Good Things, where it destroyed one Negh'Var Battle Cruiser in four shots and scared another off without almost any damage.

    What we now have as T5 ships from the show were HARDLY impotent. They were stronger, faster, and tougher than anything T1 or T2 has to offer.
