    That's been my experience as well, I had to request specifically to have my "consoles gone wild" thread changed to that name from what I had originally.

    Even advanced editing wouldn't allow me to change the thread title.

    Wouldn't it be better that beams weren't as stringently manipulated by so many factors?


    I ask this because on my Sci I've got a staple Recluse setup with power leech, the tech doffs/BO doff and Marion, your rom plasma/experimental array and the omega weapon 2pc bonus, apparently I don't need much more than a borg shield so the borg tractor comes in real handy putting regular tractors to shame.

    Here's my experience though. Under a Sci toon, I have for some time gotten a feel for just how useful these collaborative systems can be and yet, the opportunity cost of becoming 'par' with damage dealing outweighs most of my sci magic flexibility. Obviously I'm not trying to out-dps/dpv anything out there with a sci capt.

    Problem is, anything beyond a tac captain attempting this setup and you've got major opportunity costs to consider. Under this recluse for instance, I can only afford HE, xfer shield strength and science team. Seems to be a perfect combo to deal with the FAW spam that lands on my ship as well as being able to extend a helping hand to team mates that are getting pressure cooked or spike balled.

    That's the problem though, the rest of it is all devoted to keeping 'par' with pressure damage. Now, let's not misread why I'm typing this out here. I could easily flip over to my vesta on that toon and have a wildly different setup entirely making me mostly sci heavy and to that effect I can bamboozle my way through just about any conflict with a long-arms list of science magic tricks to keep me alive/annoy/slowly and utterly stringent focus on chip-by-chip damage. It's not an issue of help with your build as to why I'm mentioning this.


    I honestly don't mind the pressure cooking, I think it's kind of good for the game in a way that doesn't cheapen results too soon but it all comes back down to this beam focus. I had a very long and patient wait for devs to fix beams in a way that make them most useful for all classes without the over-the-top fixes/unworldly releases of content we usually see them produce.

    I've stopped waiting though. My mind's eye on this issue has drawn narrow and for all the wild unfathomable results virus dancer/dontdrunkimshoot are commenting about it only mirrors my experience in a way in which feels as though you've got sherlock and watson (feel free to fight about who's who) investigating a mechanics issue over and over and yet those powers that be can't be bothered to come fix their mess. Kind of feels like you're investigating a murder and albeit you've found the culprit no system is in place to rectify it.


    So wouldn't it be better? Do beams really need to go through a candy land/shoots and ladders to really be that effective for sci/eng? Can't we just have beams stronger and slower and effected by less? Can't we have beams coincide with a stepping ladder of results that can only be manipulated by damage resist/shield bypass/power availability? We wouldn't have to worry about Scimi's and beams too much at that point, right?

    I mean, I'm not crazy for outlining the need for beams to be stronger/slower/manipulated by a specific tree of skills only?

    I remember the stink people put up back when bfaw was 100% accurate and doing more damage than any escort on a ecgy cruiser plus the tank-ability of the cruiser. Now we have the same thing happening i have done stfs in under a minute with a group of these ships. The fact of the matter is people have found a way to make these ships do 2x the damage of a tactical ship puss have the tank-ability of the cruiser.

    We are now in the age of A2B cruisers on line!

    I don't believe you when you say 5 cruisers did an STF in under 1 minute unless you're talking the normal version.

    Now if you said 5 destroyer or escort-cruiser hybrids then sure but I think you're exaggerating it a tad there.

    It is through repetition that we learn our weakness.
    A master with a stone is better than a novice with a sword.

    Has damage got out of control?

    Completely and utterly but then I have a feeling you could do it in 3mins with escorts too.

    I don't have the doffs for the builds but 3 attack pattern doffs for APB3 with CSV2/CRF2 and either a torp skill or just the other type of cannon skill and you'll be getting STFs done in well under 3 minutes too.

    Highest DPS escort I have heard of is one from 20K, the Kumari somewhere in the 24K range. Sure it's not the top but it's still gonna melt face in seconds.

    A little off topic, still to me it's the escort cruiser hybrids, more so the ones with the commander tactical that are hitting the truly stupid end of the spectrum. That's things like the Jem Hagar dread and HEC, scimitar, recluse in a tactical for universal and elite mesh weavers.

    Sure the Lt.Comm cruisers are powerful and make good use of this build and everything but I've not seen one be completely OP. I've seen it be powerful and break the mold (Rck) but not quite as horrible as scimitars with rom tactical captains. Those things are just scary powerful and game shattering both PvP and PvE.

    No need to complain about squinting at a minor reflection on an ocean of truth. Truth being, people will find a way to glean the results they're looking for. It's just too bad we have devs being lead by a monetary goal rather than a quality/monetary goal. I dare not say "fix" but they could improve it in one update if they truly wanted to.

    I'd think that much is obvious as well.

    the cure go in with 5 of these ships well ones that know what they are doing split up 2 go left 2 go right one center the 2 on the left and right alpha faw dem a2b ect then go to center and finish it off you will spend more time waiting for the popup screens to go then actually fighting lol.

    I just wanted to my opinion that FAW is completely out of control.

    You can essentially have it up and running with virtually no pause. The confuse immunity needs to be removed once FAW is activated and a confuse bonus activated (more susceptible to confuse) for its duration.

    It's also not the first "X has killed me and is broken!!" thread in the past couple of months either.

    This! I have noticed since i started pvping, a lot of pvpers on this game are the worst losers i ever came across in any pvp style game.

    Its never their fault. And bug pilots are the worst of all.

    More relative though, the FAW issue has gone crazy popular lately. I also think that after reading about some of the S8 stuff, power creep is just going to get worse. Some of those rep traits are very powerful....

    I haven't seen a bug outside of Ker'rat or STFs do it, but I did see a mogai. Honestly, I'm not seeing many escorts without battlecloak anymore. It's really a shame.

    I miss my Bug, had fun with it in Kerrat in S6, some good fights too, now the game has changed and we have to adapt accordingly. Although I do dust it off for 1vs1 against another bug

    But a mogai doing a faw boat, that's like hanging a neon sign, shoot me, it's so squishy

    After playing my new avenger engineer in pvp matches (Victoria if youve ever fought her yet), and topping damage charts for both sides, as well as almost always being the last to die if at all

    I see the problem this thread was inspired by.

    I am not even using marion and purple techs yet, just blues. (not to mention the only piece of "good" gear on it is the plasmonic leech console, the rest is all TRIBBLE i picked up off the exchange for 40-400k ec each)

    FAW is pretty ridiculous, especially vs escorts and bops.

    That damage is not just washed away, I watch everyone around me slowly melt away to death. Only dedicated healers can last for long. Roms and KDF alike end up having to cloak and dagger just to survive, and rarely can they instapop this toon due to it being an engy.

    I dont know man, this new character is probably the easiest one to play, pretty much a nobrainer. it requires next to no skill to fly, just timing on self heals if i get spiked, no spacebar mash even required and its ridiculous.

    Thats just my two cents on the deal. Im legit scared to get rep/fleet gear and good doffs on it.

    yes, i used a fleet galaxy to do that lol. sorta kinda worked well for this. with the 3 embassy consoles and rom set 2 part i had about 3 and a half tac consoles worth of plasma damage boosting. had room for a DEM, ET, RSP 2 EPt skills, all the things i like to have on these cruisers, +EWP3. something like the fleet heavy could do more damage wile just losing ET1 though, galaxy R still sucks

    Bug ship pilots are nOObs...BoPs are op,we all know that.

    Btw they should buff that 1 bind build with a2b....its not fair to use 1 bind.It should have use all powers without pressing any key ,1 key bind is asking to much from the great kirk and his cruiser.:rolleyes:

    I'm saying that when you're trying to get a kill APA + SNB works better than 2xSNB or 2xAPA. Four sci captains rotating science fleet and scattering field already have a ton of staying power, so a tactical vaper is more synergistic than a fifth science captain. Between those four science captains you can build enough cross healing to counter FAW teams, and you have enough nukes that you can use them defensively while still keeping one or two in reserve to assist the vaper. A four sci, one tac vaper composition has a lot more potential than a five sci team.

    My best scoreboard ever was using the layout of a fleet heavy cruiser (fleet negh), and it starts doing strange things once you go up in the digits :

    The ship is mostly defensive so i suppose you can do much more using a scimitar or monbosh / galor / excelsior. But to score kills you still need alpha strikers in your team.
    Anyway i suppose invisible EWP can be fun :D
