We all know it's just going to be a uniform, and a ship for rear admirals for each faction.
Its nice, really, but we know what it'll be.

But hey, free item. Why deny? Because I already have 2 characters or something? No. I'll just do itvanyways because I donated 10 dollars to the game, and want to donate more. Doesn't entitle me to anything but fake money on a game. If you think you're special because you bought a dreadnought cruiser, you aren't. You're just being an *******.

Well it may be the DS9 bundle (available to KDF as well i think?), ship, shuttle, costumes, and I don't see many use this in-game so not a big zen loss for cryptic.

I see Connies and TOS costumes and gear on a regular basis so that bundle I assume still sells and would be a loss to give away and hence unlikely.

Please note that any comments by myself are entirely speculative and anything I speculate may or may-not be included in the forthcoming giveaway, just it would tick the boxes Bran mentioned.

Indeed until such time as details are announced the only thing that is a fact for people to maon about is it will be appox 7500 worth of zen.

No one uses the odyssey cruiser, because it is said to be TRIBBLE, so it won't be a loss, right?
I really want a better ship, but I'm poor...

I like the Oddy that one of my toons got for free during an Anniversary Event, but then I like running a beamboat with Fire At Will on both of my tac officers, and throwing mines out the aft end. It doesn't matter so much then that it turns like a cow on skates.

This is a good promotion, thank you for the free items.

I dont mind if they are of lower value. Free C-stores items are still free, no matter which ones they are. We already know there will be ships, so I am sure there will be something useful.

Edit : Well expect in the case someone has brought every C-store item available already, of course : )
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

Just in case the other guys don't see it, I'll post this here: (From speculation thread, didn't see like a good place to put it.)
I'm kinda confused, this is the right place for it. If I claim an Odyssey (if they have one), can I keep that item forever? Or is this only for the giveaway?

Because, if there's a CMDR Nebula, I can't use it on my Admiral SCI. I do have a LT SCI, when she gets to CMDR I want to be able to use it. Do we know if we can do this yet?

Once you claim an item, it's yours. It's just like buying it from the C-Store, only it costs you 0 Zen. And they will all be account-wide unlocks, we have been assured. They have to be claimed by a toon that meets the minimum requirements, so for instance in that example the Admiral would have to claim it, but it would then be available whenever the LT makes CDR. The only catch is that the Admiral would need to have an available ship slot; I don't know how much of a burden anyone else would consider that, but I have no problem dismissing ships I haven't used since I started my career. (What in the name of the Great Bird does my Admiral need with a beat-up old Miranda-class, anyway?)

From all the anger in this thread, you'd think someone assasinated the Pope. Let me boil it down for the raging 4 year olds:

I'm a relatively new subscriber, F2P, on a budget. I've bought some ships, yeah, like the tac Vesta, the Haakona, and the Charal. I also bought the T'varo and T'varo Retro. I can understand some frustration that other people are being given what you paid good money for *before this Friday*.

But here's how I see it: They're not giving away the good ships. You won't get a Vesta or a Bortasqu' class. They aren't giving away retrofits, because retrofits *technically* have a value of 3500z (2000Z for the retrofit, reduces the cost of the fleet retro by 1500Z). So they're giving out stuff like the D'Kyr that doesn't have a retrofit or added value, plus are kind of underpowered but fun as a curiosity.

If you bought these ships/costumes before now, congratulations! You got to play them before the entire rest of the playerbase got their hands on them. You paid for that privilege. This wasn't a publicized event, so there's no way anyone could have known before now that those ships would be free for a limited time only. Quit whining. If you didn't buy these ships/costumes before now, excellent! New toys to play with, and if you've never bought from the C-store this is a chance for you to see what you're missing.

Personally, this has given me the motivation to level a KDF character to 50 so that I can get my hands on whatever shiny klink ships they hand out. Including the Toh'duj for any future klingon-allied Romulans I make.

Mirandas are pure eSTF LOL-ness. :)

In all seriousness, though, dismissing a ship is usually disasterous (ahem), in that all trays/stations of all your remaining ships become messed up! (Something to do with Cryptic having tied those to the physical order of your ship slots, instead of to the ships themselves). It's a long-standing bug, and will likely never get fixed, as they'd rather you just buy extra ships slots.

Still, even needing new ship slots is nothing to blame PWE for, in this instance. As i said earlier, doing so is like getting a free new car, and then faulting the giver for needing a garage to store it in.

Day one has been confirmed as a fed only reward. Klingons can use the mercenary outfit ever since they gained offduty costume slots. We have it confirmed that Monday's reward cannot be used by Klingons and has no Klingon counterpart.

    I'm guessing:

    Day 1: Jupiter Uniforms
Day 2: Formal Wear (which Klingons and Feds can both use -- and Romulans for that matter)
Day 3: Yellowstone runabout To'Duj Fighter
Day 4: Tier 2 ships. I'm gonna guess:
Saber-class Escort Refit (nice synergy with the Risian Corvette) and Qaw'Dun Refit
Day 5: I'm going to buck the trend and guess Odyssey and Bortasqu'.
But just one of the three each. So maybe Odyssey Science Cruiser and Bortasqu' Command Cruiser. So you wind up tempted to buy the other two for the set bonuses.

Bran has made numerous specific references to "t3 ships." I doubt a t2 will be in there, besides the Klink t2 is kinda newish.

I love how everyone is complaining about free stuff.
I personally love that they are doing this, I only wish I had heard of this game earlier so I could have access to everything.
But honestly, I don't mind that I wont. I LOVE Star Trek Online. Sure there are the occasional bugs, but I will buy things that I want in the future if I miss out on them now.
Seriously, all you guys complaining about free items.
I think all of YOU are Ferengi.

Jonsills, I too love my free Anniversary Oddyssey (haven't take it out much since I "earned" the free Chel Grett) but I'd say it turns more like a double-decker bus with marmalade wheels :D.

Anyway, on topic for a moment.

It occurred to me last night that Cryptic/PWE could (I'll stress that, could) be about to do something none of use expect and give away completely new stuff none of us own.
Greatcoats (which, since Picard wore one, could be cross-faction), a K'vort, the outfits of the "girls of TOS", a tier 4 connie (yeah, I know) and something else my sleep-deprived brain could not think of at 3am with a poorly child.

My point is, we simply don't know until it happens what will happen, why pour vitriol on the forums until we do know?

I re-read it and I cannot find any signs of it being a competition, it is a give away, to everyone.

On one level, I will be grateful for something free, but Cryptic you worry me too.

This may crash your profits, I cannot see how this benefits you in anyway at all.

    ===================================================

That aside, it is possible they could be giving everyone something that is not in the C-store already, like a low tier ship, and then post an updated version for T5 later!

Now that would be interesting, and would make them money.

What ever you do STO , I hope you the best finical outcome from this.
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.

    I hope STO get's better ...

They most likely will give away items that are seldom purchased.

Like how no Romulan thing is given away, since those are new and sell well.

    I dont mind this.

It's just like when they gave away ships at the beginning of Season 5. Thanks for the clarification.

That is exactly what this will be. The only reason to give anything away is if they are things no one wants to begin with. Case in point? The TOS Command Uniform and the Oberth Science Ship will likely be the stuff given for day one and two.

So anyone who bought a PC game and then it ended up as freeware was punished?

That is not what this is.

No you are the one that did not get it. I was a paying customer and being a paying customer was excluded from the promotional giveaways. No if and or buts about it. To be eligable to get a free $1000 TV you must sign up for a store card. I already being a customer already had the card so I was excluded. No if's and or but's i was excluded and had not a snowballs chance in hell of winning the TV that week and It would have gone nice in the living room as the purchased one went into the family room.

The difference here is that was a contest, I already told you your analogy was wrong and supplied you with the correct one for the context of the giveaway.

You can twist it any way you like, but you're basically complaining about free stuff. Period.

I'm not complaining, I'm simply pointing out something to people who choose to be ignorant. I may or may not get anything from this giveaway, who knows.
Oh, and you're being rather petty about it. I bought Tombraider 2013 recently, from STEAM, for 49,95 euros. Should I complain vociferously now, just because STEAM will offer it to others for 20 euros soon?

You can always get it again for the discounted price. Not that you would want to, but still.
So, what if PWE were to offer me a free Science Vesta? (not all that likely, but still). I would simply smile and say: "Sweet gesture, but no thanks, already got one!" Maybe you should do likewise!?

Or maybe your 'side' should stop insulting people who have a different opinion than you do. Seriously, you all sound like this is Democrats vs Republicans here.

Incidentally, I don't believe that many of you are as altruistic as seem to claim to be so. It isn't human nature to be altruistic, and certainly isn't gamer culture. In addition, the people getting worked up over what I'm saying are clearly bothered by all this... they would just rather be seen championing this whole thing rather than being the devil's advocate. I merely stated my opinion about all of this, same as anyone else. Keep your ad hominem to yourself.
STO would have been better as a Stargate MMO than it is as Star Trek. Go figure.

Altruism!? Who's talking about altruism? Or do you perchance think not complaining about free stuff constitutes altruism? If so, then your mind works in mysterious ways.

Fact remains, however convoluted you want to make this, that PWE is offering free stuff, and you're complaining about it. Even you cannot deny that... except by not complaining about the free stuff any more. :P Win-win for everyone.

    Free stuff is awesome service.

If I already have the item offered, that probably means I liked it enough to buy it already and already enjoyed using it before now. In which case, good for the people who don't have it yet: they can now share the stuff I was already enjoying using. If I don't have it yet: nice, new stuff, for free!

Your complain is this, you spend "money" on something and then it got discounted or given away for free ... I actually got Portal for free when Valve decided to give it away at one point, should everyone that brought it have a refund because some people at a certain date got it for free?

    Good analogy!

Even closer to his case is me having gotten Portal 1 for free with my purchase of Portal 2. Except, I already possessed Portal 1. Now, if I were chainfall, I should have to feel shafted by STEAM for not offering me something else for free, instead. I called that 'petty.' Still do.

Quite frankly I can remember in one of the rants someone was calling some people freeloader which quite frankly I found insulting. So you bought LTS or a gold Subscriber. So what you bough zen and got the ship or product and now there giving it for free.
I for one will not complain if for the uniform they give the terran empire bundle or for the tier V ship they give the b'rel retrofit.
