I seldom post on the forums, but I couldn't let this one go without speaking up. The stealth mail limit recent change, that didn't even show up in the patch notes, without any prior warning was already a slap in the face. The recent change to the doff requirements for starbase projects is only a small fix that covers the unbalanced drop rate of the different doff classes. The storage system needs to be better and let us store more stuff.
Oh and Cryptic, don't expect me to pay a single penny on this BTW. There's already a bunch of useless TRIBBLE I won't put out money for on the C-store, paying for extra storage space is not gonna happen. You do understand people will create alternate F2P accounts, with dummy starbases for the fleet bank storage space.
A very pissed off LTS, around since Beta pre-launch in 2010.
Unfortunately I must add my voice to the chorus of dissapointed STOers...I lost about 30 very rare and rare BOFFS with some hard to get abilities...Tachyon Harmonic III, Polarize Hull III, Tractor Repulsors III, Boarding Party III, Reverse Shield Polarity III, Cannon Scatter Volley III.
Part of the fun of this game is 'collecting' all of the hard to get items...I feel like Cryptic just lost part of my baseball card collection
This is all really getting old...
I am in ths same boat - I have about 200 very rare boffs that were stored in the mail and now they are gone - really hope to get them back.
Hey guys, we have an update on this issue for you.
We're still conducting our investigation, but the mailed items that players are reporting are missing still exist in the database, and we will work to get them back in your mail as soon as possible.
This patch introduced an update of our player-to-player mail to a new mail system. As a part of this update, all player-to-player mail had to be transferred over to this system. For most players, this transfer worked as expected, and they should see no change in their mail.
However, for players with a very, very large amount of items in player-to-player mail, this migration failed due to unforeseen technicalities, causing the mail (But not the items in the mail, as they are stored separately from the mail) to be lost. Because the items still exist, we will be able to have them mailed to you, and we'll work to make sure that these items are returned to you as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause in the meantime.
While I am glad this matter is being looked into, I do need to point out the inaccuracy of the above highlighted statement. I had somewhere between 2 and 6 (that I know of) e-mails full of attachments, which most assuredly does not qualify as "very, very large amount of items". Granted there might have been a bunch of newer item-expired e-mails as well, but I couldn't tell you for sure...since it is all gone. Still shouldn't be enough to qualify as a very, very large amount of items".
Further, *all* my old e-mails are gone including text-only e-mails which I had been keeping as they contained some useful info (thankfully nothing too precious).
As has been asked by others several times since the above-quoted post (from page 11 of this thread), are we going to only get back our items, or will we get old text e-mails back and/or the text from the item-filled e-mails as well?
What amazes me is that it took Them this long to finally realize that having all their games on ONE Server is a problem.
Which is what Their attempt to secure STOs' mail, is an admission of.
One would think They would have seen this coming long before NW joined the fray, and would have done something about it then.
In typical Cryptic fashion, They just slapped a band-aid on the problem now and are hoping like hell the players forget-abou-it over time.

No, I'm beginning to think they aren't going to do it either. As pointed out, this isn't sticky, it isn't in the GNN, and there hasn't been any update on status. Frankly I would have preferred a 'still looking into it, will get back to you after the weekend' message as opposed to nothing. I have had to dig this post up twice from the second page of the forum. They seemingly aren't treating this like a big issue, infact other than the one mention of it a few days back, they aren't even treating it like an issue at all.

Very large number? I had 20 messages and only one had items on it.
i think they did this on purpose.. let me explain..
first they put in a 100 attachment limit.. for no reason.. or explanation.
then they "grandfathered" all old emails so they werent part of that limit..
then they decided to delete everyones email.. to clear all those old emails out..
so now everyone has a clean inbox.. with a 100 limit.. just what they wanted.
and the only emails that werent removed were exchange expired ones.. from the last few weeks.
if those are still there, why arent the other ones?

my three mails that arestill there are NOT FROM EXCHANGE...
my brother's mails are all from before LoR...
my friend's mail is mixed up, no linear line / coherent idea why this is still there and that is gone...
so can you please stop whining and generalizing around. They said that they are on it and that the mail is still there and that it will be returned.
I am missing all mail prior to 5/27/13. 98% of what I had in there and was trying to retrieve is gone.
Please make an announcement in game to stop the guess work once this is officially resolved.
Perhaps in an email?

plz fix this i think that just like me a lot of folks used the mailing system as a backup bank option specialy for those doffs and boffs u just could not drop on exchange or wanted to keep in reserve for alts or fleet projects
Just a little reply to make sure the thread stays current...since you know, the problem hasn't been solved yet.
I don't think a response over the weekend was very likely. As I type this the folks at Cryptic are probably coming into the office right now, so let's hope we get some more information today, or maybe a resolution.
I noticed this last night (Yes I am late to the party) and realized that I am missing over 2000 (I am a hoarder) doffs, all green and blue, from my mail. At least they are working on it.
NERF CANNONS - THEY NEED A 50% NERF

In my case. I spent real money to buy fleet ship modules and my artifact are from duty officer pack I bought from zen store. So I will owe you if I can get back they.
I have a different mail-related problem: My old mail is still there, but I cannot receive any new mail, not even text-only messages, from any other source except the Exchange.
Additionally, the "You've Got Mail!" blinkenlight is stuck in the on position.
I refuse to login knowing all my mail will be gone, I'm already getting engaged in other online games. Time is your enemy, soon I will have forgotten why I login to STO and will only remember the bugs, the lag, and all the things I worked for that were stolen.
