Who are you to say that LTS shouldn't have priority?!? We paid $300 (for the most part; I know there were sales.) in support of this game for a subscription.
So you, probably some F2P person, feels that it's not fair that the people actually paying/paid for this game get special privileges included, such as Closed Beta access?!?
Apparently Cryptic needed a certain kind of player for the first wave of Closed beta,, some lifers made it some didn't , just becasue you're a LTS does not mean you're entitled to everything.

As someone who's done beta testing before, a closed beta isn't a free, privileged content preview or symbol of status, regardless of companies' PR departments, game journalists, and some of those in a closed beta would have you believe. It's work; you're testing a pre-release product, which means playing beyond your typical style(s) to ferret out bugs and various issues with a greater level of attention and detail especially for mechanical issues, and provide detailed feedback with detail and credibility. You're there, as a player, to do QA; to ensure the product is the best, and most bug-free, it can be at release.
I get that the definition of an alpha or beta product is murker these days than it used to be, with games like Minecraft that launch in alpha and revenue from game sales are used to continue development; games like Dwarf Fortress that are independently developed and just launched alpha with meandering development after that; or worst, developers/publishers like Blizzard who really just QA in-house and use "closed betas" for at-best balance tweaking (and free advertising and content demoing).
I would think LTS would prefer to be exempt from this round of testing, since they've already paid $300 to not do what amounts to pro bono work for PWE or Cryptic. I'm sure LTS will get preference in later rounds, when it turns from actual testing to "testing" in the sense of it being a content demo, and free advertising. So, keep your knickers out of a bunch, and be thankful you're not actually in round 1 of testing, since depending on the product and its release schedule can get pretty hectic. Cryptic and PWE doesn't need to placate its LTS, who may or may not have testing experience or even feel obliged to test during the closed beta since "they paid to be here, dammit"; if anything, the position you feel entitled to be in the closed beta without demonstrated willingness to do for what you would be there, is reason enough. Cryptic needs to release the expansion in the best-possible it can be.
Somebody getting uppity about canon? No problem! Just take a deep breath, and repeat after me:
Just curious -would not someone who is not a veteran tester also be desired -they will play/approach the game in a different way and discover issues as well?
That's just an observation
Separate to that I do feel as life time subscriber (having been offered this option and paying $300 for it) that I should have consideration for options like closed betas
Hate to say a free to play game is not some all are equal ideal -the game makes its money by offering items at the store-these items boost your in game play in myriad ways -or offers like LFS.
So as customer/Player who has invested financially in the Game -i feel i can ask that it has return/rewards-if the devs say no with reason to a expectation/suggestion i have so be it.
I have faith they will deliver on the returns-like i had faith purchasing the game than the LFS.
So I do feel LFS should have access to closed betas-and I will glady accept the work of testing the game and new content. Just because I subscribed means -i just sit by and expect all is well, I too would like to see the final released product of good standard and help in that.
Not sure how they picked who to send the invites out to but, and mind I am not complaining. I recieved a Beta invite. In the email it said because i have tested in the past. Here is my expierence with the beta invite...
1. I downloaded tribble 2 weeks prior to my invite cause i was asked to by Fleet leader to set up a fleet on tribble for recruitment purposes
2. After downloading and setting up the fleet I never went back to tribble
3. I have never payed to play the game.
As to some of the posts saying LTS should have gotten invites, I actually agreee. It should have been a perk to paying for the game.
A little clarification since I've seen a few questions about who got in the beta and why. First, as dStahl mentioned, we'll be getting more players in before the launch of Legacy of Romulus, including an open beta period. We can't wait for you all to be able to try it out and sincerely appreciate how excited you are by it.
For this first round of Closed Beta invites, they were sent to players who had tested on Tribble during the past several weeks since it's been updated with the new code for Legacy of Romulus, and those who had received Tribble Testing Rewards in the past for the more recent Tribble test weekends. This criteria allowed us to find players who have been testers in the past with the goal of them testing the new content and providing constructive feedback in the forums.
Again, we'll be getting many more of you in as soon as we can, as we know there are many of you who also can't wait to try it out and leave your feedback. Thanks for understanding and see you on Tribble soon!

One word for you: Elitist.
I am not a LTS, but did buy the game when it came it out + bought a lot of zen. Who are you to decide who should get a priority or not.
Thanks for the reply BF, but you're about to get a chain of "I met the criteria but was left out" messages (including here) unless you mean having ALL of the tribble test rewards. I believe I missed only Crossfire & the highest level Doff reward (APU).
There's probably more to it than previous rewards and all... it only tells them that some players have tested previous content and they may be good candidate for this series of beta... As far as I know, Tribble can be accessed by silver players, if I am wrong, please correct me. So, even F2P people had a chance to be pulled in...
Just wait... LoR will be released for all to play... FOR FREE. Right, now, there's bugs, holes and locks... so not all is opened and smooth...

Is it possible you are opted out of marketing emails? If you are, you wouldn't have received an email. Try logging into Tribble and checking if you can make one. You might have to delete your Tribble characters (make sure it's on Tribble and NOT Holodeck!), transfer a new one over, and then see if the option pops up. If it doesn't, you're not in it yet.
LoR will go into Open Beta some time in the next couple of weeks. Everyone will get a chance to play it then - or they can simply wait for it to go live on the 21st. It's not like you get to keep anything you earn while testing on Tribble, so you might as well just wait for it to go live.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
And there are still a fair number of bugs (that cause video and client crashes/typos/etc); so it's not just a 'free preview' per se; there's also no voice over at all as yet (and it'll be interesting to see how well it plays in the for release version), and the current text timing in the cutscenes is pretty quick so you have to skim read to catch most of the dialogue (if you're interested in the story - which I must say has been quite good so far. Tom the point that, unless they've also re-worked the Fed faction start up into a more cohesive storyline in some parts - I hink you'll see Feds complaining that the Romulan story is actually a bit more immersive.)
So far, two of the Romulan 11-20 level missions have been retools of existing FED/KDF 'dailys'. One is a retool of "The Shamir" daily, but they did enough that it doesn't feel like a 100% 'cut and paste' job; and the second is a retool of the Fed/KDF 'Salvage Dispute' - (the Fed/KDF version requires you to have acquired and turned in 10 'Computer Cores' gotten from doing the 'Defense Contract' daily); and this new Rom version is just one of the missions you play through. Thankfully they shortened/condensed the travel time though the cloud so it actually plays faster then the Fed/KDF versions - and again, it's altered enough that it doesn't feel out of place (IMO); and again isn't just a 100% 'cut and paste' job.

Listen folks. The truth of the matter is, if you want to Beta test stuff for STO, you have to play on Tribble/Redshirt. A lot of us play on Tribble and many have actually made Tribble their home. So they are there every time a new patch is added and they provide feedback before it ever makes it to Holodeck. That is why some of you didn't make it into the beta. Some of us have done prior betas for Cryptic, I have done betas or at least been invited to all the Cryptic betas, including Neverwinter and LoR. Still then, there are many players who have a history in the test server forums and are considered goto guys for anything STO related.
These are they types of people Cryptic and other studios want testing features. They want people who know the game inside and out, they want people who tend to spend more time on the test server than they do in Live and they want people who have continuously provided good constructive positive feedback on a consistent basis throughout the development of STO. These are the people selected for closed betas.
You want to be part of it, get on Tribble, call it home. Join the TTS channel, which I dare say is the oldest community channel in STO and is available both on Holodeck as well as the test servers. Make yourself known in the TS community.
Complaining because you didn't get an invite, won't serve to get you one. Changing you habits a little bit and being a part of the community, that will help.

one issue i can say is after switching from map to map all power trays need to be reset and the bo's need to be slotted in stations. wouldn't mind if you going from safe map to safe map . yet when you go from safe map to a map that has ten ships now attacking you and you cant reset your power tray or bo slot its a P.I.T.A.

After trying all of that I have to confirm it is possible to have multiple tribble rewards and not be allowed in to the LoR beta. Not urgent though.
In any case, I strongly feel the paying members should be let in ASAP. They are the base of this great tower -- the people without which this game would collapse, and to devalue their opinion is wrong even if they have chosen not to express it. It is of course subject to your technical limits at the moment.
Nothing sinister here, I know this is all just the art of the possible.

I completed about 7 hours worth of game play on Legacy of Romulus Tribble Test reaching level 11 and thus far like what I am seeing.
The UI Character creation was nice, but took some getting used to. However, I wish I could of had more hairstyle selections, but later after I allied myself with the FED it unlocked additional hairstyle selections (mainly FED).
The story line was hard to follow because the cut scenes had dialogue that was a bit hard to read (needs a dark color for text), but I assume there will be voiceover added for the final release. However, I didn't mind not getting the whole storyline, so I can truly enjoy it when I create and play upon final release.
The changes I like is, at least for a new character, is choosing traits as I leveled up. Before we were given species pre-set traits and asked to pick additional traits upon creating your character, but as I played I felt I picked the wrong traits. Upon the release of STO I had one character that I had leveled up, but decided to delete the character and to start over (big mistake), so I can choose different traits. So I was a great supporter of Cryptic adding a respec for traits. As I play my game play changed and traits I initially chose just didn't work. But now, new players with new characters can level up at points to skills and pick traits, which is definitely in keeping with having a career in Starfleet. So, at least now that I will have the opportunity to create new Romulan characters I can enjoy leveling up and picking the right traits as I play.
The new UI took some getting used to. I don't know if this will be fixed, but the UI color scheme doesn't change between Character. For instance, I went for the Romulan color scheme for my new Romulan Character, but when I switch to my FED Character, which I had chosen the Federation color scheme, well, it was the Romulan Color scheme. So is one color scheme chosen for one character going to be the same color scheme for all my characters?
As far as the game play, it was great. The Storyline for Legacy of Romulus was creative. Not to give out too much, I felt that New Romulus released for Holodeck was a little premature. Legacy of Romulus is a prequel to New Romulus game play in Holodeck. As the episodes unfolded it was a great tie-in the New Romulus in Holodeck. I did feel that it was too soon to have to pick which to ally with (either FED or KDF), but I understand why as the story unfolds. I chose to ally with FED, but I don't plan to use any Starfleet starships for my Romulan character, it just doesn't seem right, so I wish I could have the option get some Klingon ships, especially the smaller ones, instead even if allied with FED. Will the starship NPC be Starfleet personally roaming the interior? After allying with FED-side I received a Starfleet Bridge Officer, which was nice, but I would of preferred another Romulan associated species not wearing a Starfleet uniform. I did look into changing his clothing, but found I could only change it to clothing available to FED Characters. I would of like to be able to change his clothing to Romulan Federation uniform option I was given when I chose the alliance. I do like the Romulan uniform types and hope you will be adding the Classic Star Trek Romulan Uniform later.
I liked the additional of the Suliban and Yridians I encountered in a couple of episodes/missions...will they be some of the Bridge Officer options that will be made available for the Romulan Faction?
I don't know if it is just me, but the Reman in Legacy of Romulus look a little different, in terms of details and skin texture. Don't get me wrong, they look a whole lot better. And spoiler alert...I like finally seeing a Female Reman.
After trying all of that I have to confirm it is possible to have multiple tribble rewards and not be allowed in to the LoR beta. Not urgent though.

Cryptic wants testers people who go on Tribble because they herd something change and want to test it out without being told.
They want testers not people who throw money at the game that's why the people who were picked pretty much go on Tribble without any reason other then to test, even if there is no reward out of it.
The players who throw money and never go on Tribble only will go when there is a reward out of it, and most just log on go AFK and then come back and log off, that's why they have these Beta without rewards first before they open it up to everyone who just wants the reward and to stress test the server.
I tested on season 7, but I guess my error was not posting on the forums as to why I didnt recieve a closed beta invite... oh well I guess I learned my lesson
I tested on season 7, but I guess my error was not posting on the forums as to why I didnt recieve a closed beta invite... oh well I guess I learned my lesson
Testing is not just playing content on Tribble. It's giving comments about the content on Tribble: finding bugs, errors, etc. While you might have "tested" Season 7 I just checked your 9 posts, and none of them are about testing feedback. So not getting chosen for Season 8 probably has more to do with not making any testing comments about Season 7 rather then posting about not getting chosen.

- Graphics, design = B
The homes Romulans use appear to be the similar in design as in Raiderz. I gave it a B because of the originality factor.
- Story line = A
- U.I. = A
- Opening scene when creating the character= C+; the subtitles go too fast for reading in the cut scenes
All in all great job...
people shouldn't get their knickers in a twist if they didn't get an invite. it's pretty pathetic tbh.
