Anyway... Any other ideas/plans of combating this issue at hand people?
Get over it, because no matter how much you whine you won't get your way and you aren't missing out on anything vital to your continued enjoyment of the pixelated space game?
I think if anything all the whining in this thread has proven that if these people did get these pets they would be wasted on them anyway. If you aren't pro enough enough to get a bugship in the first place (assuming you didn't get lucky from a doff pack) then you aren't pro enough to deserve the pets.
The ultimate irony is that if the people in this thread and (presumably) at risk of flooding their basements with tears spent even a tenth as much time and effort on playing the game in a vaguely competent way as they do complaining, they'd probably have a JHAS within a week.
But that would involve setting a goal and working towards it, two things to which they seem allergic. At least, that's the only rationalization I can think of that justifies 6567-odd pages of petulant demands on the developers of a game they play for free.
Or maybe some people already own a JHAS on a tactical toon but use the carrier on an engineer or science toon, ever thunk of that?
The only skill that is put to test is your skill of either blowing tons of money on the game for the item which you trivialise by calling just pixels. The other skill is making a ton of ec which I would hardly say qualifies you to judge you're "pro" enough to ride the bug or use the pets.
The thing people are so up in arms about is that there was no reason to do this outside of driving up demand for the JHAS before giving a chance to win it. The JHAS on its own is amazingly powerful and is reward enough for owning one, the fact it is the devs favourite and will probably keep getting upgraded for free while other ships are left in the dust (already happened once) is further proof of why JHAS owners did not need another bonus.

It was quite obviously done to balance the fact that the Federation was not meant to have carriers, and when the whiners finally got their way, they weren't meant to have frigates. This is the only cross-faction carrier that can use frigates, and because the Federation isn't meant to have them, they had to be balanced in a way. Too many Federation people using pets not balanced for them would break the game.
But you know what? I guess it doesn't matter now does it? By being allowed to visit their studios Cryptic has pretty much signed off on you and your fleet haven't they? They've said in deed what most of us have suspected for years. They're not going to stop you. They're not going to correct you. You won. After long last, you really, really won. STO is yours and no one is going to do a thing about it. Congratulations.
Or maybe some people already own a JHAS on a tactical toon but use the carrier on an engineer or science toon, ever thunk of that?
Then they should pull their finger out and bootstrap their way to another one. If they are patient this isn't hard, just mildly time consuming. Besides, Elite Scorpions are just as good, at least for PvE.

Hardly. If making tons of EC through careful manipulation of the exchange and keeping an eye out of when to buy and when to sell isn't indicative of some form of skill, then everyone would have their own bugship and this thread wouldn't need to exist would it?

Or perhaps Cryptic recognises the fact they have a dedicated and elite clientele that they have chosen to reward as way of a thank you for sticking with the game for so long. If people don't like it they should farm some contraband, do some Starbase 24, and start buying and selling on the exchange. Then they could have a bugship of their very own, and the corresponding pets. They shouldn't get angry because some of us are better than them.

The sense of entitlement is truly astonishing.
Being "Pro" is not the point.
Raising 300 million EC would take about a week of casual play.
The point is that I should not have to put a Bug ship on my Science Toon that hads no need of it except for unlocking the option to Buy something that can only be used with the Carrier that I already own.
The requirement was not needed and Cryptic could have made extra money just selling the Hanger Bugs in the Lobi store but yet they chose to tie the Hanger Bugs into needing to own a Lock Box ship in hope that it would bring them tons more cash.
For me it's not about having to pay extra it's about how we are expected to pay extra.
I still stand by what I've been saying and that just owning the Dreadnought Carrier should have been enough to have the option to purchase the Hanger Bugs.
Cryptic could have come up with a much better way to make a buck off of the Hanger Bugs but they chose to lottery it and milk us for has much has possible.
You can be has PRO has you want but if being PRO means loosing sight of what's Right and Wrong I'll take a pass.
Elite clientele? Lol funniest thing I've heard, cryptic don't give two hoots about you, they only wish to make money, that's the whole reason behind the move, to make a butt load of money from people buying doff packs. I could raise the money for the Jem bug easily, the point is I shouldn't have to have it locked out by having to have another ship I don't want, for each character that wants the pets.
Raising 300 million EC would take about a week of casual play.
I'm curious errab, how would you go along to get 300 million EC's in one week? What are we assuming? Well the obvious is a subscriber, then does the player have a hoard of dilithium just sitting there? Or even perhaps a large stockpile of Zen?
Please do tell, its an honest question. The only thing I could think of is if someone has like no life, no job, and has the time to perhaps grind out that full week of playing, maybe doing starbase 24's and Gorn Minefield's (assuming you get 1st place ALL the time) for the end rewards, and selling those on the exchange. I know off of dumping your full inventory worth of useless gear that can be sold at a vendor for 50% of its value (assuming you didn't expand you inventory space), you can average about 800k to 1 million of EC's like this everytime.
But please, I would like to hear how in a week you would come up with 300 million EC's
Hi all. My name is Robuille and I own a Jem'Hadar Attack Ship. Why am I telling you this you might be wondering? Because I also own the new Jem'Hadar Dreadnaught Carrier now. You might be saying to yourself..., well..., so what? See the thing is, I own both of those ships but on two different characters. Still, I own both ships so I should be able to buy Jem'Hadar Attack Ship hangars for my Jem'Hadar Dreadnaught Carrier, right?
WRONG!!!
Now let me get this straight..., both ships are extremely different from each other so each requires an entirely different skill tree spec to optimize its performance. So even if I were to own both ships on one character, any time I wanted to switch ships I would have to pay for a new respec token?!? And seriously, if one of my characters has the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship, WHY WOULD I WANT TO FLY ANOTHER SHIP AND ESPECIALLY ONE SO DIFFERENT?!?!?
So to get the special Jem'Hadar Attack Ship hangar bay unlock under the current terms of the promotion, I'd either have to buy one of JUST 6 Attack Ships that are left on the exchange for OVER 400 MILLION EC on the one character I just unlocked the Dreadnaught..., or I could take the one character that I don't want flying ANYTHING BUT my Jem'Hadar Attack Ship, buy him the Dreadnaught and respec him anytime I want to fly the Dreadnaught on the off and TOTALLY ABSURD chance that I get tired of flying my bug.
WHAT IS THAT HANGAR BAY UNLOCK EVEN IN THE STORE FOR?!?!?!?
Is this Cryptic's way of unveiling their new sadistic sense of humor?
Now that we know how upset I am, and I'm sure the other Jem'Hadar Attack Ship owners feel the same way, I offer a solution. If a character on an account owns the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship, the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship Hangar Bay should be unlocked for the entire account and usable only on the Jem'Hadar Dreadnaught Carrier. Reasonable solution? I think so.
I don't think this was an intentional attempt to TRIBBLE us all off. I think it was an oversight and a good idea that never made it to the critical thinking stage of development. You guys just shipped it out without giving any thought to how the "unlock" policy might affect the player. Now the players are screwed and the players would like to know if you plan on fixing it?
I still feel as if they need to be just every other carriers pets obtainable with out having to jump thought every fiery hoop in the game. Just the logic be hide wanting people to spend ridiculous amounts of cash just to get 2 fighter bays. Getting 300mil EC or not is not point tread its idea of forcing people to buy a ship they don't want to get hanger bay they do want is what we talking about.
Now the Attackship if want give it a grandfathering gift to why not make it a [Polaron Quad Cannon][Dmg]x4 useable on any accounts that owns the ship that makes the ship more value by players same should go for the Galor weapons account bound so any character on your account can buy them and use them and Jem'Hadar Console should be same way form lock box ships.
This changes would be welcome by your costumer/player base in game and should be set motion to be add to the asap
Is this Cryptic's way of unveiling their new sadistic sense of humor? Yes what else would it be...
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] DELTA RISING FIXS THERE NEVER COMING WHY I'M I WASTING MY TIME ASKING FOR THEM ???

To be fair the term "Casual" might only apply to players that have been playing this game awhile.
In the intrest of full disclosure I've not been interested in EC in quite some time and I'm currently on sitting on a bit less than 60 million EC.
What I describe below is what I did and what I will still do if I feel the need for EC.
I've been a Liffer since open beta in STO and spent a lot of time playing STO over the past 3 years and I've stocked up on quite a bit of items along the way that I sell from time to time if I feel the need.
Items like Borg Bridge Officers and Borg Science Kits are still going for insane amounts of EC on the Exchange and when they were dirt cheap before the F2P conversion I bought up a bunch of them for next to nothing.
Note:
The Borg Science Kits that use to drop from the full Cure mission (not the mini 8 minuet ones that we have now) did not bind on equip and could be used and then traded whenever you wanted and they can't be obtained in the game in this form anymore unless you get them off the Exchange.
I use to run the Original Cure on with only my Science officers just so I could roll need on the Borg Science Kit that dropped at the end because I knew it might be worth something someday.
I still have 8 of the Borg Science Kits stilling in my Fed Science Officers Bank.
I get about 2 hours a night to play and what I'd do is setup my Doff missions across all my Characters.
With my 8 Characters I'd work on farming Proto Type Consoles and I'd sell the high end ones like Mk XII Very Rare Disruptor Tactical consoles and Antiproton Mag Consoles, even the Rare MK XII can still get you around 10 million EC each.
I was able to convert most of the Dilithium that I earned to Zen and I have not needed to buy anything in the C-Store for RLM in well over a year now.
I don't consider myself a serious gamer but over the years I've learned a lot from my Fleet and the friends that I've made along the way and the things that they taught me stuck.
I generally only play one Main most of the time be it my KDF Science Officer or my Fed Engineering Officer and I'd use the other Characters to farm Doff missions for me.
At the end of the week I'd run through the toons that were farming for me and I'd sell everything that I did not need that I knew was worth something on the Exchange (undercutting the lowest price) and I'd NPC the rest.
Getting EC in this game is not an issue for me and if you build up multiple Characters correctly you can farm your way into more EC that you?ll know what to do with.
When I was actually making an effort to monitor all my Toons it only took about one hour a night to set up all the doff missions I wanted them doing.
If I really wanted the Bug ship because I wanted to fly one I would have had one by now but I have no intrest in flying a Bug ship and I'd only need it because I want the Hanger Options that belong to the Dreadnought Carrier that I already own. (Which ended up on my Fed Tactical Captain so it?s has good has dead to me now)
The only reason that I continue to post in this thread is because I find the way that Cryptic dealt with the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier morally wrong has I think most of the others that are upset by this move do has well.
Has I see it Cryptic is forcing players that might only want the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier to need an Escort class vessel that they might not have ever wanted just to get an item that can only be used on the Carrier that they already own and I can't get passed how wrong that feels to me.
Besides the 20 Fleet Support packs that I bought with EC and converted Dilithium I've made no further effort to get a Bug Ship and I don't plan to unless it becomes available to all without the need to own another vessel to purchase them.
I feel that Cryptic crossed the line with the way they gated the Hanger Attack Ships.
Heck most of us would have bought the Hanger Bugs from the C-Store.
When the Bug Ship was 1st offered in the Holiday Red Box it made Cryptic more money than they could have hoped for and also created fire storms of rage the likes that the STO forums had never seen before.
The 2nd time the Bug ship was release in the Gamma Quadrant Duty Officer Pack it almost went unnoticed and I can only imagine that sales were not what Cryptic had hoped for.
Cryptic needed to do something that hype up the Bug ship so when they decided to offer it a 3rd time that even the players that never wanted one might go looking for it because of all the hype.
I wonder how Cryptic built up all that Hype
Because its not worth using the carrier over your JHAS without JHAS hangars. At least with JHAS hangars it's worth playing with. Whether its less or more DPS is moot. Pretty sure my JHAS will still blow the carrier out of the water.
And, we expect better than broken hangars. My recluse carrier blue pets do more damage, and they're blue.
This is also another fact the Jem'hadar fighter bay we given to buy off Dil store are worst ship I have ever seen for carrier. "My recluse carrier blue pets do more damage, and they're blue" its true they do more damage I also have the recluse carrier its fact.
I don't know one carrier captain who thinks there carrier dose all the damage but fact is that pets will make or break a carrier if your Hangers suck your carrier will suck... case in point Dread Carrier.

I agree 100% that that both the Hanger Jem?Hadar Fighters and the Hanger Attach Ship are craptastic.
Both the fighters and the Attack Ship pale in comparison to the Elite Scorpion Fighters and are nowhere near has useful has any version of the Vo'Quv BOP or Kar'Fi Frigates.
The Hanger Bugs are so junky ATM that it makes the fact that they are locked away from the players that only own the Dreadnought Carrier that more upsetting.
Junk should be given away not gated and elevated to Elite status to help boost sales in some money grab scheme.
Could you imagine the rage if the Hanger Bugs actually did something useful

Wow that Attack ship bay is stack! Oh you paid for keys and got lucky Lock boxes. Try doff packs now and make lighten strike twice good luck suckers ? Cryptic really do want buy me a drink before try movie on us... You must think really lowly customers buy lock boxes...Classic Robbing of Peter to pay Paul and Clearly Paul got paid when open a Doff pack up landing a Attack ship ... TRIBBLE peter he only opening lock boxes...
thank you for stat post ill using it in ever post for now on!
IT'S CLEAR YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS!:mad::mad:
So what is to be done if Cryptic never decides to change anything? What then?
they lose more customers and the game dies about same thing happen about 2 years ago when just end a deal without no warning that gave the Fed Dread when that ship didn't suck... you may dive deep find post about that.
they ran that for about 45 days and just pulled it because of a bug that happen that couldn't fix but fed player could get birds of prey etc same for Kdf players a fed ships... they stuck it to a large group people at same time... who where getting new members for the game still that being said 2 years later there still up to same old tricks. So yeah that what happens...
wow! vvv Directed Energy modulation II... How about *Quantum Torpedoes something thats a sad fighter pet
Will you stop asking that? Most people here are just ignoring you.
Listen. Why don't you mind your own business and pop your mouth back on your Momma's ti*** .... diaper baby.
I'm asking a question for other's opinion on this thread. It's sincere enough. I've already made my point, and there are alot of other posters on this thread and other's I've seen who have directly/indirectly said the same thing about people complaining about this requirement issue.
With that being said I'm interested to see what other idea's people will come up with to post here as an alternative to the current issue they are fighting against.
I'm sorry to tell you guys this but it would appear that kronolah's brief period of rationality is at an end and that he is back to flinging insults.
Awww what's wrong? Did I hurt your feelings? Did you feel the need to write all that to demonstrate some sort of intelligence?
It's quite simple. I expect to be rebuttled with whatever I post so I'm prepared to deal with whoever it is, as should you expect the same if you decide to start with someone who is no longer discussing the complaints, and moved on to make certain inquiries on the post. The point is if you wish to go back and forth wasting time for another dozen pages just to get at me, be my guest.
Moving along, I think if any of you wish to see a step in the right direction, then I did see an idea pages ago about having the requirements unlocked account-wide. That would be a start, then perhaps who knows?
Keep in mind, of games will be like this, where certain items of interest or pre-requisites will be marketed in such a fashion that is intended to generate revenue for the company. Alot of people here see it as exploitation, greed, unfairness, etc... I'm not sure what else you people want to see happen here, but please lets continue, let us know.

I don't see how Dreadcarrier should need you own another ship doesn't makes any point ... to get a fighter bay?
This is a escort why would you place that ship on a character that flying carriers your spec 1st of all you know...
I don't get reason other then they Just want suck ever dollar out someone's wallet?
really why have a ship that you need have a fighter bay to make it useful... Jem'hadar Lockboxs are trash... these Dreadcarrier is most gimp ship ever released next to Fed Dread. Look what is the point of having the ship if you need own another ship just to make it work?
Think of this also they cause there own demand for a Attackship. Setting it up this way which is maybe worst thing ever to happen to this game because you know they already got plans to do it again. I almost want tell the people who get next locks boxes haha?!? Whats the next carrier scam Cryptic...Galor to get fighters bay for a Keldon Carrier?
That alright sit by onside line don't post it maybe next ship you want that there ripping you off? Told you so!

Im going to try and be constructive about this, ok.. The bug ship hanger pets SHOULD be available to anyone who spent money on the dreadnought... /HOWEVER/ i still feel those who have the bugship should have a bonus for having it. The very simple sollution would be to allow the advanced ones to be purchasable only by the ones who have the jem bugship, but still allow the people who obviously spent the money and time to get the dread the ability to have the standard bugship for their hangers because in all seriousness the jem fighters (even the purples) are worthless, DEM is only good when you have MASSIVE dps, and DEM 1 is all but useless, right now even the basic peregrins out dps the purple jem fighters. Either please make a second pass at the fighters to have torps or SOMETHING or give usthe basic bugship please please. This is constructive feedback not whining so please, take it as such.:-)
Why should the owners of the Bug get anything special here? They already OWN THE SHIP. Is that not good enough? If they do not like flying the Bug then they should just sell it (if it is still packed) or switch to something else. There is no need to pile on extra benefits for owning this rare ship. It is already stupid powerful for what in reality should be a throw-away suicide fighter the likes of the S'kul.

Even an account wide unlock, while a step in the right direction does not solve the problem. If the pets had been released in the lobi store to begin with people would be pissed but at least it would be equally accessible. It would also cost the player less in ec or zen but would also provide future new players a way to get said items.
Remember the Jem Dreadnought is the lobi store ship not one that will disappear anytime soon like the wells, orb weaver and Jem HEC. A happy customer who doesn't feel like they're be forced to spend a lot of money will spend a lot more in the long run. Someone who feels they have to spend a lot of money and quickly will get rapidly discouraged.
1) cryptic wants to establish the jhas as a very special to own ship which is hard to get. If i look at exchange prices they succeeded. While current lock box drops range at about 60m, the jhas starts at 300m EC. Thus implies the cost to get one should be noticable higher compared to lock box ship drops. I'm not saying they are, just that thats what the exchange prices imply because basically they say people are willing to pay such enormous amounts for it. Some say that the stats dont really reflect that but of it would be bad noone would care.
BUT since there are and obviously will be more and more escorts all the time in escorts-online.. Making the jhas this requirement for the hangar pets just adds to its value thus kind of restoring the value of the jhas in the face of kumaris and ships like that.
2) cryptic has a policy of making everything extremely expensive. There are soooo many ships/modules/whatever where the relation between the costs for me as a player and the "value" im getting really differ by such a margin basically everyone has to imagine them as a pack of ferengi. For me at least the "unfair" part about it is that those of us already paying for the game with gold or lts are treated the same way as all those silver players. I'm quite sure that by just having like a 10% reduce on all c-store stuff for those already paying would be no problem (well make it 1% per month with continuously running gold membership up to 10%) they could make us feel much better and in a way the monthly 500 zen are something like that but they dont scale.
In the end cryptic is in many ways just bad business. Sure they make loads of money simply by adding a already designed ship to a doff pack which costs them 5 minutes and they earn thousands and tens of thousands with it. They dont realize how offensive this is but it well its maybe not very nice to say that but the usa always had something of ferengi - land for me so its kind of what i expect from them.
As long as we buy it they dont realize how much bad blood they could avoid by some small words here and price drops there.
I really wanted to have the jhas myself but just for the hangar item. But with my 10 opened packs i didnt get it so i let it go. In the end the stats arent worth it anyways cause the elite scorpions are still way better.
At first i really felt good about giving them my money bevause i felt i had to support the game i love to get more content and keep them going. Now i'm a sort of disgruntled customer that tries to minimize the amout of zen im buying because of all this.
It may be a bit harsh but i see them like a homeless man only accepting 5 dollar/euro or more. You WANT to help but he just smiles at you with his doggy eyes but stays firm on only taking 5 bucks or more. Hes hoping that we are kind hearted enough to give in and often we do. But for everyone comes a point where they say well i gave him enough to last many month so we stop giving. For me that point is reached i'm happy with my jhdc und my monthly 500 zen and thats that. The content just isnt worth it and a jhas hangar items with bad stats isnt worth it either.
I doubt they'll learn that in the near future if ever how much more money they could make in the long run just by not being so greedy as strange as it sounds. The problem is just that im just one player and that they will not really notice that the point where i stopped buying zen every month coincided with their jhas - sell.
I like how you think you understand economics, business management and revenue streams better than the company who posted record growth and profits
Here's a hint: You don't matter.
If you're not going to buy anything else as some form of misguided 'protest' then not only does PWE not care, they're laughing since they already have your money. If you were to quit the game in as a result (over not getting your favorite internet spaceship of all things) then you'd be doing them a favor by not wasting their server bandwidth that could be re-allocated to a new player.

Get over it, because no matter how much you whine you won't get your way and you aren't missing out on anything vital to your continued enjoyment of the pixelated space game?
The sense of entitlement is truly astonishing.
But that would involve setting a goal and working towards it, two things to which they seem allergic. At least, that's the only rationalization I can think of that justifies 6567-odd pages of petulant demands on the developers of a game they play for free.
It is through repetition that we learn our weakness.

So what's stopping them getting another for that engineer or science toon? There's plenty on the exchange.

This is the last thing I will post.
DELTA RISING FIXS THERE NEVER COMING WHY I'M I WASTING MY TIME ASKING FOR THEM ???
This is also another fact the Jem'hadar fighter bay we given to buy off Dil store are worst ship I have ever seen for carrier. "My recluse carrier blue pets do more damage, and they're blue" its true they do more damage I also have the recluse carrier its fact.
I don't know one carrier captain who thinks there carrier dose all the damage but fact is that pets will make or break a carrier if your Hangers suck your carrier will suck... case in point Dread Carrier.

DELTA RISING FIXS THERE NEVER COMING WHY I'M I WASTING MY TIME ASKING FOR THEM ???

"If there grass on the field play ball." "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." "Silence is compliance." That 2nd quote maybe a little much but I really don't care.
DELTA RISING FIXS THERE NEVER COMING WHY I'M I WASTING MY TIME ASKING FOR THEM ???
Why should the owners of the Bug get anything special here? They already OWN THE SHIP. Is that not good enough? If they do not like flying the Bug then they should just sell it (if it is still packed) or switch to something else. There is no need to pile on extra benefits for owning this rare ship. It is already stupid powerful for what in reality should be a throw-away suicide fighter the likes of the S'kul.
you forgot "Idle hands are devil's playthings"
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

It is through repetition that we learn our weakness.

Has damage got out of control?
This is the last thing I will post.
