Good for you Richie Rich it shouldn't be that way! the mass pay for this game not elite few!

When sto kill over and you can't play with your ship because game shut down remeber its because dev cared more about ripping off player/customer base for every dime... rather then making the game better!

Time and effort? Talk about a epeen moment. Its a RNG drop... the person who got it was lucky thats it. Spending 400k EC is to buy the ship off someone other persons luck is not skill.

No ship should req another ship for a item. It stupid that the Dread req a very rare ship to get a component that only it can use.

I really don't care what was in the "fine print" it was a stupid thing to have required in the first place.

I also don't think the JHAS should be buffed either. It's powerful enough on it's own.

Not to mention that the JHAS has been buffed once already to be "fleet ship" level status.

Stupid? It was genius on Cryptics part, knowing that despite all the complaining they'd make a heap ton of money from people aaand were safe in the knowledge their shameless money grab would not be met with people quitting the game, but moaning and eventually accepting the money grubbing.

I think depending on how well this sale goes... they may at some point decide to relent, but not until they sucked as much money as possible out of the willing.

Not at all, some of us pulled ourselves up by our bootstraps and earned the EC to fork over to buy one on the exchange.

There will always be a market for these things, if someone gets lucky and decides to sell it, sure they're lucky. But those of us who appreciate the finer things in life, its another hard earned item that we spent time and effort to get.

Nova2284 should start saving if he really wants one that badly.

Not me. I'm not even trying to get a Bug. I don't want one no matter how many unrelated unlocks it comes with. And if this is going to be the new normal mode of play I'll just give up. STO is already pretty tired.
I think depending on how well this sale goes... they may at some point decide to relent, but not until they sucked as much money as possible out of the willing.

Except if that's what they are doing, it's terrible science. People go crazy for the Bug even if they don't get anything out of it but owning a Bug, because the ship is just that good. Plus they attached it to something that I have to assume was already selling pretty well because of the unique duty officers it could give. So basically, they see a huge upswing in sales of fleet support packs... How many people are after a Bug, how many people just wanted a sale on fleet support packs, and how many people wanted Bug Pets for their Dreadnaught? This experiment has too many variables.

To be honest if I had the JHAS I'd use it over the dreadnought 9 times out of 10. I would like the pets, not the ship, if there was a way to get the pets without the ship then I would not mind. I also dislike how many JHAS' are probably just being bought to buy the pets and then never flown, quite a bit of a waste but hell if you think this is ok then go ahead and compliment Cryptic.

The question no-one seems to be asking: Is this really a route we want the game to be going down? Where you must purchase multiple ships and items just to get something we previously got for a single purchase. This is a test, there will be more, if the next one succeeds then it will become common place.

It is through repetition that we learn our weakness.

Has damage got out of control?
This is the last thing I will post.

    Basic pet cost: 5,000 EC

Dil shop pet cost: 3,000,000 EC (based on 40K EC per contraband => turn in contraband)

Jem'hadar attack ships pet cost: 280,000,000 EC (current price)

Do you need a visual aid to realize how TRIBBLE this is?

Is there some particular reason you NEED the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship hanger pets? Just use Elite Scorpions, or Advanced Peregrines. The Scorpions will honestly do more damage anyways.

Or wait for fleets to start getting Tier 5 Science and get Elite pets of your choice. Incidentally, those of us who have the JHAS and its hanger pets will have Elite versions of those waiting with the rest, too. :D

I fail to see how its TRIBBLE at all.

The price for bugships is as high as it is because of the huge demand and very little supply, this is the free market at work. When I started gunning for lockbox ships I didn't make threads on forums whining about how expensive they were, I got grinding and got smart about saving my ec and dilithium. After all that, look at me now. I have a bugship, a dreadnought, a Wells, a Mobius temporal destroyer, an Orb Weaver and a Galor. Thats not even including the fleet ships I have. I put a lot of effort in to get those ships, and I fail to see why someone with 'babbys first carrier' should just waltz in and have the same with no effort at all.

If he can't afford a bugship, then perhaps he should make do with some peregrines, scorpions, or danubes like other space poor people do?

Gee Cryptic is making money off the Greed of players who want ships, they don't need but want, and on another ship they don't need but want.

Shame on you Cryptic for knowing your customers:mad:

Sounds like a smart business practice. The Bugship, while ugly as hell to me, is a good ship. Buying it purely for the hanger pets is pretty stupid however. And I say this as someone who did that before this giveaway, knowing full and well it was coming. I could afford to, so why not?

I really don't get why people who knew the Dreadnought wasn't coming with the JHAS pets but that they'd be a synergy option for those who had both suddenly feel entitled to just have them handed over for no fuss, no muss, and no extra effort on their part when suitable alternatives that actually do more damage are, frankly, available for far cheaper.

Get elite scorpions, they are much better, the attack ship hangar is overrated anyways.

Yes, I have a JHAS and a dreadnaught, got 1 JHAS hangar.

Oh get over your self... you can earn 400k in trash loot in 5 to 10 mins doing battleship foundry mission.. so plz get off your high horse and stop acting like it was hard to earn EC.

The point is no ship should be have to buy another ship for a item only it can use. The Jhas gets ZERO use from the attack ship.. there for it should not be req for the dread to use them.

Thats great, but there is a daily limit to how much decent loot drops. You'll hit that 400k in no time, and given the current price of bugships it would only take a mere 700 days to afford one.

Besides, if it was that easy everyone would have one wouldn't they?

Wrong analogy. The correct analogy is that your Kia's transmission won't shift into 3rd gear unless you also buy a half-million-dollar bulldozer.

In which case, I would say "That's stupid", and shop somewhere else. Do we really want to encourage people to shop somewhere else...?

Why is this so hard to understand! I don't care about the Bug. Anybody who wants a Bug is welcome to pay ungodly sums for their Bug and enjoy it as much as their able. They're expensive because they are rare. Fine. I get it. Dreadnaughts aren't rare. You can buy them in the lobi store, or off the exchange for something like 80 million. The two ships are totally unrelated.

I don't have an issue with restricting JHAS carrier pets to people who own the JHAS; that is, if not fair, at least clearly just a bonus to having the JHAS, and all lockbox ships come with bonuses; consoles, special bridges, stats, etc.

The problem that I see with it is that if it is in fact supposed to be a perk of the JHAS, you should be able to mount those hangars on any carrier that can carry frigate pets.

    So.

Let the JHAS pets be mounted on the Atrox, Recluse, Dreadnaught Carrier, Kar'fi, and Vu'qov!

The JHAS isn't a lock box ship, but it still has its own bridge...or well the Jem'hadar bridge and its the best escort in game so I don't think it needs a console now in the game.

Wow. That's an awful analogy. The better one might be "you can use those really nice sports rims off your 2011 model car on the new 2013 model if you really want to!" if you HAVE to force a car analogy. Which is an awful thing to do.

But they are. Cryptic made them related. They're both Jem'Hadar ships and feature cross-compatibility. The console from the Dreadnought Carrier (and the JHEC!) are usable on the bug, and owning a JHAS in turn lets you use JHAS pets on your Dreadnought. This was never a secret. This was in the FAQ on the ships from the get-go.

This is also inaccurate. You bought a car in 2011. You used it. It was good. Then they released an updated model, and you can carry over some parts. That is also good. It's all about ease of upgrade, making a new model easier for existing customers to justify because they don't feel like they are starting over from nothing. Cryptic has already done this in the past by making Fleet ships able to use the unique consoles and features of their non-Fleet predecessors.

Dreadnaught captains don't actually want to fly the Bug. This should be self evident, because they bought a Dreadnaught and not a Bug. So it's a bulldozer. Something completely unlike a car, something completely useless to somebody trying to buy and use a car.

If you want to stick with your rims, then the Bug Pets are like rims that you have to buy an entire car to get. A car you don't intend to drive. And costs 4 times more than the car you want to put the rims on.

Or, like buying an expensive parts car. It happens, especially if the parts are hard enough to get.

You can get anything in this game with either time or money or combination thereof. Sound like you have an issue with the ratio. Nothing is pay to win, so if anything it sets a goal for you to encourage playing.

After all this is a game and you are supposed to be having fun.

Time and effort have zero to do with it. Either pure luck, or spending hundreds of dollars will do it. Better yet, spending hundreds and playing the exchange, because it is possible to spend $500.00 and get nothing.
